  • An Approach to Product Reliability Apportionment Based on Cost Coefficient Control
    Industrial Engineering and Management, 2012
    Co-Authors: Wang Wan-lei
    Abstract:

According to the reliability apportionment limitations of current engineering application,an approach to product reliability apportionment was proposed based on Cost Coefficient control. After correcting the Relative Cost Coefficient according to the developed products reliability parameters and important products reliability parameters, based on the corrected Cost Coefficient,by employing Lagrange multiplier rule,we obtained product reliability apportionment parameters which met the engineering requirements.Proposing an approach to product reliability apportionment for redundancy system and deriving the expressions of calculation of units' reliability, the rapid calculation speed and easy application is proved by a case.

  • Analysis of the One-Level Sealed Bidding on Effectiveness under Different Bidding Variables
2007 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering, 2007
    Co-Authors: Yang Yao-dong, Guo Ya-jun, Yao Shuang
    Abstract:

The one-level sealed bidding is studied under the circumstance of project construction in build-operate-transfer (BOT) mode, where the bidding variable is considered separately as concession term, toll per product, payment and the total revenue. A game model with incomplete information among tenderers is presented and the optimal bidding strategies of tenderers are given. When the tenderer's construction Cost belongs to uniform distribution, the optimal bidding strategy is related to his Cost, the numbers of all tenderers, his Relative Cost Coefficient, demand in unit time and so on. Furthermore, when the anticipations of market demand among the tenderers are different, the optimal bidding strategies under the above bidding variables may fail; when the operation and maintenance Cost could be ignored, the bidding variable of total revenue is the best choice.

  • Vertical governance of construction projects: an information Cost perspective
    Construction Management and Economics, 2011
    Co-Authors: Kaixun Sha
    Abstract:

A research framework is developed to analyse the vertical governance, or transaction relationships between the client and its first-tier suppliers of construction projects in terms of project procurement route and payment terms. Starting from the particularity of the construction industry, reduced treatments that Williamson used in governance structure analysis are revised, and an assumption of ‘second-order transformation’ is proposed: as the information gap reaches a given level, and the proportion of specialized knowledge to deal with uncertainty exceeds a certain degree, the approach of selecting the governance structure of construction projects might deviate from the path anticipated by canonical theories. Both uncertainty and information Cost are included in the analysis framework, and a principal–agent model is developed to analyse the procurement route and payment terms of construction projects. It is concluded that the information gap and the Relative Cost Coefficient of information are decisive ...
