  • An Improved Recursive and Non-recursive Comb filter for DSP applications
    arXiv: Signal Processing, 2018
    Co-Authors: Rozita Teymourzadeh, Masuri Othman
    Abstract:

The recursive and non-recursive comb filters are commonly used as decimators for the sigma-delta modulators. This paper presents the analysis and design of low power and high-speed comb filters. The comparison is made between the recursive and the non-recursive comb filters with the focus on high speed and saving power consumption. Design procedures and examples are given by using Matlab and Verilog HDL for both recursive and non-recursive comb filter with emphasis on frequency Response, Transfer Function and register width. The implementation results show that non-recursive comb filter has the capability of speeding up the circuit and reducing power compared to recursive one when the decimation ratio and filter order are high. Using Modified Carry Look-ahead Adder for summation and also apply pipelined filter structure makes it more compatible with DSP application.

  • VLSI Implementation of Cascaded Integrator Comb Filters for DSP Applications
    2006
    Co-Authors: Rozita Teymourzadeh, Masuri Othman
    Abstract:

The recursive comb filters or Cascaded Integrator Comb filter (CIC) are commonly used as decimators for the sigma delta modulators. This paper presents the VLSI implementation, analysis and design of high speed CIC filters which are based on a low-pass filter. These filters are used in the signal decimation which has the effect on reducing the sampling rate. It is also chosen because its attractive property of both low power and low complexity since it dose not required a multiplier. Simulink toolbox available in Matlab software which is used to simulator and Verilog HDL coding help to verify the Functionality of the CIC filters. Design procedures and examples are given for CIC filter with emphasis on frequency Response, Transfer Function and register width. The implementation results show using Modified Carry Look-ahead Adder for summation and also apply pipelined filter structure enhanced high speed and make it more compatible for DSP applications.

  • Dynamic analysis of patterns of renal sympathetic nerve activity: implications for renal Function.
    Experimental physiology, 2004
    Co-Authors: Gerald F. Dibona
    Abstract:

Methods of dynamic analysis are used to provide additional understanding of the renal sympathetic neural control of renal Function. The concept of Functionally specific subgroups of renal sympathetic nerve fibres conveying information encoded in the frequency domain is presented. Analog pulse modulation and pseudorandom binary sequence stimulation patterns are used for the determination of renal vascular frequency Response. Transfer Function analysis is used to determine the effects of non-renal vasoconstrictor and vasoconstrictor intensities of renal sympathetic nerve activity on dynamic autoregulation of renal blood flow.

  • Real-time 2D analog motion detector VLSI circuit
[Proceedings 1992] IJCNN International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 1
    Co-Authors: R.r. Etienne-cummings, S. Fernando, J. Van Der Spiegel, Paul Mueller
    Abstract:

An analog VLSI implementation of real-time motion detection in early vision using a hybrid of the Reichardt and Ullman-Marr models has been fabricated. It has a 5*5 array of photoreceptors, with a receptor fill factor of 0.42. The majority of this circuit operates in strong inversion. The photosensors have squared logarithmic and linear Responses for low and high intensity illumination, respectively. A linear passive resistive grid is used to implement the desired difference of Gaussian impulse Response Transfer Function of the edge detection circuit whose dynamic range is 3 V. These outputs are used to determine the velocities of the translating objects. Velocities up to 2 m/s on chip corresponding to 6 m/s in space have been measured in 2D. The array has been fabricated in a 2 mu m n-well CMOS process. >
