We must provide the necessary new utilities, tools, and languages that help and Support a user to perform multiple tasks in finding useful information and knowledge. In the Web context, IRSS may be viewed as an important type of Web-based systems Supporting Web Intelligence (WI). The main objective of this entry is to provide an overview of the study of IRSS, covering the emergence of IRSS, the architecture of IRSS, and implementation-related issues

Web Intelligence - DBLP-SSE: A DBLP Search Support Engine

An SSE aims at meeting the diversity needs from different users, providing various Supporting functionalities, tools, etc. for users to perform various tasks beyond the traditional search and browsing provided by current search engines. As an illustrative example, we developed a DBLP search Support engine (DBLP-SSE), and we discuss some concrete Supporting functionalities, namely, search refinement Support, domain analysis Support, etc. Each of the functionality focus on a unique perspective Supporting users finding useful information and knowledge from the DBLP dataset. The search Support engine can be considered as a step towards Knowledge Retrieval (KR) and Web Intelligence (WI).

Information granulation for Web based information Retrieval Support systems
2003Co-Authors: Jingtao Yao, Yiyu YaoAbstract:In this paper, we discuss the potential applications of data mining techniques for the design of Web based information Retrieval Support systems (IRSS). In particular, we apply clustering methods for the granulation of different entities involved in IRSS. Two types of granulations, single-level and multi-level granulations, are investigated. Issues of document space granulation, query space granulation, term space granulation, and Retrieval results granulation are studied in detail. It is demonstrated that each different granulation Supports a different user task.

We submit that rejecting these techniques on the basis of this study is completely unwarranted and potentially damaging, particularly if used in legal proceedings to undermine the value of testimony from children with ASD, who continually struggle to gain access to justice.

Additionally, we use the linguistic instrument 'word field' for defining abstract search keys during the design process.
