  • ISEC: An information Security Engineering cloud
2012 IEEE International Conference on Computer Science and Automation Engineering, 2012
Co-Authors: Liqing Xu, Yuichi Goto, Jingde Cheng
    Abstract:

ISEE was proposed as an information Security Engineering environment that supports continuous and consistent design, development, management and maintenance of Security facilities of target systems, based on ISO/IEC Security standards. However, the current ISEE only provides services passively, i.e., it can only response to users' explicit requests, but cannot provide useful services to users actively. In order to make ISEE more practical, it is a challenge to provide active services, which can give useful services to users actively in advance but do not give users undesired services. To this end, this paper proposes an information Security Engineering cloud (ISEC), that has all functions of ISEE, and moreover, provides active services to its users. This paper presents the basic ideas, requirements, design, and implementation issues of ISEC.

  • development of isee an information Security Engineering environment
International Symposium on Parallel and Distributed Processing and Applications, 2009
Co-Authors: Jingde Cheng, Yuichi Goto, Daisuke Horie, Junichi Miura, Toshio Kasahara, Ahmad Iqbal
    Abstract:

Security Engineering has some features that are intrinsically different from Software (Reliability) Engineering. Traditional software Engineering environments are not adequate and effective for designing, developing, managing, and maintaining secure software systems. This paper presents our development of ISEE, an information Security Engineering environment we are developing, that integrates various tools and provides comprehensive facilities to support design, development, management, and maintenance of Security facilities of information/software systems continuously and consistently, and guides and helps all users to perform their tasks regularly according to ISO/IEC Security standards. ISEE is the first real information Security Engineering environment.

  • ISEDS: An Information Security Engineering Database System Based on ISO Standards
2008 Third International Conference on Availability Reliability and Security, 2008
Co-Authors: Daisuke Horie, Yuichi Goto, Shoichi Morimoto, Noor Azimah, Jingde Cheng
    Abstract:

Security facilities of information systems with high Security requirements should be consistently and continuously developed, used, and maintained based on some common standards of information Security. However, there is no Engineering environment that can support all tasks in Security Engineering consistently and continuously. To construct a Security Engineering environment, a database that can manage all data concerning all tasks in Security Engineering is indispensable. This paper presents an Information Security Engineering Database System, named "ISEDS," that we are developing based on ISO standards, and shows its some possible applications. ISEDS manages data of ISO standards of information Security and various cases of system development and maintenance. We adopted the international standard ISO/IEC 15408 (Common Criteria) for information Security evaluation as one of ISO standards to underlie ISEDS, and implemented major functions of ISEDS and its application tools to manage and use data oflSO/IEC 15408. Developers, users, and maintainers can create, correct, and verify specification documents of Security facilities with the application tools.

  • ISPEC - An empirical study of quality and cost based Security Engineering
Information Security Practice and Experience, 2006
    Co-Authors: Tai-myung Chung, Myeonggil Choi
    Abstract:

For reliability and confidentiality of information Security systems, the Security Engineering methodologies are accepted in many organizations. A Security institution in Korea faced the effectiveness of Security Engineering. To solve the problems of Security Engineering, the institution creates a Security methodology called ISEM, and a tool called SENT. This paper presents ISEM methodology considering both product assurance and production processes take advantages in terms of quality and cost. ISEM methodology can make up for the current Security Engineering methodology. For support ISEM methodology, SENT tool, which is operated in Internet, support the production processes and the product assurances which ISEM demands automatically.
