soalive Service Catalog a simplified approach to describing discovering and composing situational enterprise Services
International Conference on Service Oriented Computing, 2008Co-Authors: Ignacio Silvalepe, Revathi Subramanian, Isabelle Rouvellou, Thomas Mikalsen, Judah M Diament, Arun IyengarAbstract:SOAlive aims at providing a community-centric, hosted environment and, in particular, at simplifying the description and discovery of situational enterprise Services via a Service Catalog. We argue that a Service community has an impact not only on users and Services, but also on the environment itself. Specifically, our position is that a Service Catalog adds value to users, and is itself enriched, by its incorporation into a community-centric Service hosting environment. In addition, analyses of web Services directories suggest that a Catalog Service for enterprise Services can be better provided by using a simpler content model that better fits REST, taking advantage of collaborative practices to annotate Catalog entries with informal semantic descriptions via tagging, providing a mechanism for embedding invocations of discovered Services, and allowing syntactic descriptions to be refined via usage monitoring. The SOAlive Service Catalog defines a flexible content model, a discovery function that navigates the cloud of tag annotations associated with Services in a Web 2.0 fashion, and a Service description refinement function that allows the actual use of a Service to refine the Service description stored in the Catalog.

RCIS - OWL-SOA: A Service oriented architecture ontology useful during development time and independent from implementation technology
2010 Fourth International Conference on Research Challenges in Information Science (RCIS), 2010Co-Authors: Wagner Arnaut, Káthia Marçal De Oliveira, Fernanda LimaAbstract:The implementation of Service oriented architecture (SOA) has proven to be one of the main initiatives for organizations in gaining necessary agility in the area of information technology. However, in one particular area this process has presented a significant challenge: the implementation of a Service Catalog. Ontologies have been used to organize Services in repositories, as proposed by of OWL-S (Ontology Web Service Language) and WSMO (Web Service Modeling Ontology). Meanwhile, these ontologies have two broad restrictions: they are used on runtime only, and deal only with Web Service technology for the implementation of Services. This study proposes an ontology for SOA with an emphasis on the implementation of a Service Catalog in the development phase, and considering any type of Service implementation technology. This ontology was created based on the existing ontologies and literature. The resulting ontology was instanced with Services of a large multinational organization.

ICEIS - Evaluating the Accessibility of Websites to Define Indicators in Service Level Agreements
Enterprise Information Systems, 2009Co-Authors: Sinésio Teles De Lima, Fernanda Lima, Káthia Marçal De OliveiraAbstract:Despite the evolution of the Internet in the past years, people with disabilities still encounter obstacles to accessibility that impede adequate understanding of website content. Considering that Web accessibility is an added value to the website, it is important to have in place monitoring mechanisms and website accessibility controls. Service level agreements (SLA) can be used for this purpose, as they establish, by means of a Service Catalog, measurable indicators that certify the fulfillment of preset goals. This paper proposes a way to evaluate the accessibility of websites through a practical approach utilizing software measures, with the purpose of collecting data to define indicators for a Service Catalog of an SLA of website accessibility. Initial application of the approach was conducted on Brazilian federal government websites with the participation of ten users with visual disabilities. The study shows the viability of defining indicators.
