Automatic Service Provision in Network Smart Space
2009 International Conference on Research Challenges in Computer Science, 2009Co-Authors: Zhong Dong, Zhu Yian, Lei WanbaoAbstract:A semantic and automatic framework for network smart space is proposed in this paper. In the framework, techniques of spontaneous Service Provision, context-aware, semantic reasoning, and pervasive Service management are smoothly synthesized. A six-layer conceptual architecture is introduced on the basis of functional characteristics of framework. It enables objects in network smart space to interact spontaneously, provides semantic-integration context awareness, and supports meta-Service based adaptability and scalability. We illustrate our ideas through a scenario of conference travel Service in network smart space, which demonstrates the feasibility of our framework.

Secure Service Provision in smart grid communications
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2012Co-Authors: Daojing He, Jiajun Bu, Chun Chen, Sammy Chan, Yan Zhang, Mohsen GuizaniAbstract:The smart grid provides a platform for thirdparty Service providers to remotely monitor and manage energy usage for consumers. At the same time, the involvement of Service providers brings a new set of security threats to the smart grid. In this article, we first identify the cyber security challenges on Service Provision in the smart grid. Then we present two main security issues related to Service Provision and provide potential solutions. The first one is to establish a secure communication procedure among the electric utility, consumers, and Service providers. The second one is to provide a privacy-preserving yet accountable authentication framework among the smart grid entities without relying on any trusted third party. Finally, we suggest directions of future work on secure Service Provision by describing several open issues.

Fog-Enabled Smart Health: Toward Cooperative and Secure Healthcare Service Provision
IEEE Communications Magazine, 2019Co-Authors: Wenjuan Tang, Kuan Zhang, Deyu Zhang, Yaoxue Zhang, Xuemin ShenAbstract:The rise of smart health promotes ubiquitous healthcare Services with the adoption of information and communication technologies. However, increasing demands of medical Services require more computing and storage resources in proximity of medical users for intelligent sensing, processing, and analysis. Fog computing emerges to enable in situ data processing and Service Provision for smart health in proximity of medical users, exploiting a large number of small-scale servers. In this article, we investigate fog-enabled smart health toward cooperative and secure healthcare Service Provision. Specifically, we first introduce the overall infrastructure and some promising applications, including emergent healthcare Service, health risk assessment, and healthcare notification. We then discuss the challenges of fog-enabled smart health from the perspectives of cooperation and security. A case study is presented to demonstrate efficient and secure health data sharing through Naive Bayes classification and attribute-based encryption with assistance from fog computing. Finally, by exploring interesting future directions, more attention can be attracted to this emerging area.

Autonomous decentralised M2M application Service Provision
2017 Internet Technologies and Applications (ITA), 2017Co-Authors: Ulrich Trick, Bogdan Ghita, Michael Steinheimer, Woldemar FuhrmannAbstract:In this publication a novel concept for M2M Service platform architecture is presented enabling decentralised and autonomous M2M application Service Provision. This publication introduces the functional architecture of the approach and describes the system structure and application creation process. Additionally several M2M Service platforms are evaluated regarding requirements necessary for decentralised M2M application Service Provision with end user integration. This publication describes also a decentralised M2M application Service management process and the corresponding formal notation of M2M application Services.
