  • Sharepoint Server 2019 User Experience
Understanding Hybrid Environments in SharePoint 2019, 2020
Co-Authors: Nanddeep Sadanand Nachan, Smita Sadanand Nachan
    Abstract:

Sharepoint Server 2019 is the latest on-premises version of Sharepoint as of today. It is built on the foundational release of Sharepoint Server 2016. This means there are no huge architectural changes in Sharepoint Server 2019 from Sharepoint Server 2016. However, from the end user perspective, the experience has changed a lot. Sharepoint Server 2019 has been updated to a new, modern experience. The modern experience is not new to cloud (Sharepoint online) users, but it can now be experienced in Sharepoint on-premises. In this chapter, you will explore the new user experience in Sharepoint Server 2019 and compare it with the classic and Sharepoint Server 2016 experiences.

  • Sharepoint Server 2019 Upgrade Scenarios
Understanding Hybrid Environments in SharePoint 2019, 2020
Co-Authors: Nanddeep Sadanand Nachan, Smita Sadanand Nachan
    Abstract:

As a Sharepoint administrator and developer, you support customer portals on various on-premises versions of Sharepoint, such as Sharepoint 2010, 2013, or 2016. (Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (a.k.a. MOSS) reached the end of support in October 2017.) You always strive to build future-proof Sharepoint solutions that will support upcoming versions of Sharepoint but every new release of Sharepoint prompts you to upgrade to it.

  • Setting Up Sharepoint Server 2019 Developer VM in MS Azure
Understanding Hybrid Environments in SharePoint 2019, 2020
Co-Authors: Nanddeep Sadanand Nachan, Smita Sadanand Nachan
    Abstract:

Sharepoint Server 2019 is generally available, and it is the latest on-premises version of Sharepoint. Sharepoint Server 2019 is more focused on team collaboration, consistent user experience across various devices, and bringing in cloud features to the on-premises scenario. Sharepoint Server 2019 is built on the same core platform as Sharepoint Server 2016; however, it offers a new, modern experience to users. It also unlocks access to some features previously available only for cloud customers. This blurs the line between on-premises and cloud experiences, which facilitate a smoother transition to the cloud. Sharepoint Server 2019 is a middle ground for customers looking for an on-premises solution that captures many of the benefits of Sharepoint Online while giving customers the control and compliance of staying on-premises.

  • Sharepoint Server 2019 Features Overview
Understanding Hybrid Environments in SharePoint 2019, 2020
Co-Authors: Nanddeep Sadanand Nachan, Smita Sadanand Nachan
    Abstract:

Not surprisingly, Sharepoint Server 2019 adds new features and leaves behind a few old features. Sharepoint 2019 brings the cloud closer to the customer and the customer closer to the cloud. In other words, most of the features that were once only available within the cloud (Sharepoint Online) are now available to on-premises users via Sharepoint Server 2019.

  • Power Automate Integration with Sharepoint Server 2019
Understanding Hybrid Environments in SharePoint 2019, 2020
Co-Authors: Nanddeep Sadanand Nachan, Smita Sadanand Nachan
    Abstract:

Power Automate integration is one of the cloud features that made it on-premises with Sharepoint Server 2019. Microsoft Flow helped to automate tasks by connecting to various systems; Power Automate offers the flexibility to go beyond creating traditional Sharepoint-centric workflows by connecting to various services. Power Automate widens the opportunities for Sharepoint users to automate their processes. In this chapter, you will explore how to integrate Power Automate with Sharepoint Server 2019 on-premises using a data gateway.

    Abstract:

In previous chapters, we have installed Sharepoint and configured our Web Applications and Service Applications. • Business Intelligence with Sharepoint 2019
    Deploying SharePoint 2019, 2019
    Co-Authors: Vlad Catrinescu, Trevor Seward
    Abstract:

Business Intelligence is one of the categories that has seen the most features removed in Sharepoint Server 2019. Whereas Sharepoint Server was the recommended platform to publish Business Intelligence reports, most of technologies depended on Silverlight to render results, and reports were not user friendly to build. With Silverlight support officially ending in October 2021, most Business Intelligence features that we are used to in Sharepoint are no longer available. Table 12-1 gives a summary of features that are deprecated and removed from Sharepoint Server 2019.
