Identification and integration of security activities for secure agile Development

BawaAbstract:Agile Software Development is receiving the attention of Software developers and researchers thanks to its fast Software delivery and flexible Development plan capabilities. The fast release and simplified documentation thus leads to the preference of the agile Development model over several other traditional models. This, however, also raises critical concerns about the security issues. In this research work, we propose a framework for secure agile Development. The selection of Development Methodology among agile versus plan driven approaches and the particular agile Development Method among Extreme Programming (XP), Crystal Clear, Scrum, Lean Development, Dynamic Software Development Method and Feature-Driven Development is made on the basis of the specific requirements of the project using empirical Methods like AHP and PROMETHEE. Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and survey study are used to obtain the authentic industrial feedback, followed by the application of non-parametric statistical tests to identify and select the most suitable and beneficial security activities from well known security engineering processes like CLASP, Common Criteria, Cigital Touchpoints and Microsoft’s SDL. A lightweight Method is also introduced for integrating these security activities identified from SLR and survey study, using a dynamic integration algorithm without compromising the agility of the process. The proposed framework for integration of these security activities is implemented in java to automate the entire process and provides maximum benefit at a low integration cost.

A Roadmap for Agility Estimation and Method Selection for Secure Agile Development Using AHP and ANN

BawaAbstract:The modern Software industry is expected to provide fast Software delivery and because of dynamic environment the customer requirements changes very rapidly, which has lead to inclination towards agile Development approaches over other traditional approaches. It has the advantages like fast release and simplified documents which eventually lead to maximizing profit and productivity. However, it is a mammoth task to make a calculative decision about whether to use an agile approach for a given project or not because of the lack of any empirical decision making process. This paper provides a roadmap for making decision using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with Agility Indicator and if selected, it further suggests which Agile Development Method is better suited for among popular Methods like Feature-driven Development (FDD), Lean Development, Scrum, Crystal Clear, Extreme Programming (XP) and Dynamic Software Development Method (DSDM). It also addresses the major concern about security requirements to enhance the security features by integrating security activities from security engineering processes without degrading the agility of the agile process.

Software Development Method of SOC estimation based on Simulink/Stateflow and RTW
Chinese Journal of Power Sources, 2015Co-Authors: He Ting-tinAbstract:A Software Development Method based on the model developed automatic code generation was introduced to estimate the state of charge of batteries. The estimated of SOC in the traction battery were adopted as the research object, and the simulation strategy model was established in Simulink/Stateflow; three testing conditions were set to verify the correctness of the model simulation; in order to generate the estimated model of SOC to the standard C code, the Real-Time Workshop tool was used; the integrated program debugging circuit board used Freescale MC9S12DT128 chip as the CPU under the environment of Code Warrior IDE Software. The results of simulating the actual testing conditions were the same with the simulation results which were carried out in Simulink, and the size of the generated code met the demand of chip processing power, and the Software could operate effectively and stably.

StrohmeierAbstract:Component-based Software engineering, separation of concerns, model-driven architecture, and aspect-oriented programming are four active research areas tat have been around for several years now. In this paper, we present how these four paradigms can be put together in the context of a new Software Development Method and we show how they can complement each other are different stages in the Development life-cycle of enterprise, middleware-mediated applications. Different Software Development Methods, such as Fondue, Catalysis, KobrA, and the Rational Unified Process, are also analyzed, pointing out their differences and limitations. In the end, requirements for a dedicated tool infrastructure that would support the new Development approach are discussed.
