    Abstract:

    The Internet is undergoing a tremendous change towards the globalized computing environment. Due to the open, dynamic and uncontrollable natures of the Internet, Software running in the Internet computing environment has some new features, which bring challenges to current Software technologies in terms of Software model, Software operating platform, Software engineering approaches and Software quality. Researchers in China have proposed the term “Internetware” to present the emerging Software Paradigm. Sponsored by the National Basic Research 973 Program, several research practices have been done on the Internetware in the past decade. This paper summarizes the progress and status of the Internetware researches. A technical solution framework for the Internetware Paradigm is proposed from four aspects: the Internetware Software model defines what the Internetware is to be; the Internetware middleware determines how to run the Internetware applications; the engineering methodology determines how to develop the Internetware applications; the Internetware quality assurance determines how well the Internetware applications can perform. The paper also discusses the ongoing research issues and future trends of Internetware.

    Abstract:

    In the Software development, most stakeholders cannot clearly and objectively express their needs for the envisioned Software systems. In this paper, we propose a problem-driven collaborative requirements elicitation approach, with the purpose of helping identify and extract the requirements of the Internetwares (a complex and new Software Paradigm). The basic idea of our approach is that the requirements of the Software systems should be stated by stakeholders in an objective way (i.e. problem-identifying-solving way). That is, first identify the problems existed in the as-is problem domain, and then find the solutions to the problems. The solutions to the problems are the requirements of the envisioned Software systems. To this end, we propose the structure of problems and a collaborative process for achieving the solutions.

The tunneling electrons should experience an extra barrier as long as the semiconductor surface is toggled to depletion, leading to a colossal tunneling electroresistance (Fig. 1). Wen and colleagues epitaxially deposited a 3-nm-thick ultrathin BaTiO3 film with an atomically smooth surface on a Nb-doped SrTiO3 oxide semiconductor and then deposited Pt electrodes on top to form Pt/BaTiO3/Nb:SrTiO3 tunnel junctions. These prototype devices show a tunneling electroresistance two orders greater than the best value ever reported in FTJs. The colossal ON/OFF ratio, low operation voltage (3 V for write and 100 mV for read), reliable switching reproducibility and long data retention suggest great potential for nondestructive readout nonvolatile memories. Moreover, the team observed that the tunneling resistance could be modulated continuously by applying voltage pulses with increasing amplitude due to the continuous tuning on the domain structure in the barrier. This novel FTJ can actually function as a memristor, the adaptive circuit element theoretically predicted 40 years ago but discovered only very recently. The use of memristors may pave the way to future neuromorphic computational architectures. The work by Wen and colleagues not only proposes a promising nonvolatile memory structure with potential to overcome semiconductor devices based on charge storage, but provides tremendous opportunities for innovation in nanoelectronics also.

    Abstract:

    As a new Software Paradigm evolved by the Internet, Internetware brings many challenges for the traditional Software development methods and techniques. Though architecture-based component composition (ABC) approach is originated in the traditional Software Paradigm, it supports the engineering of Internetware effectively due to its philosophy, rationales and mechanisms. ABC has three major contributions to the en-gineering of Internetware in detail. First, the feature oriented domain modeling method can structure the “disordered” “Software entities” to “ordered Internetware” bottom-up in the problem space. Second, the architecture centric design and analysis method can support the development of self-adaptive Internetware. Third, the component operating platform is a reflective and self-adaptive middleware that not only provides Internetware with a pow-erful and flexible runtime infrastructure but also enables the self-adaptation of the structure and individual entities of Internetware.

  • Modeling Business for MDA Software Paradigm

    Aimed at resolving the second Software crisis due to increasingly technical complexities and diversities of Software development methods, Model Driven Architecture (MDA) was proposed in the late 2000. However, because of its lacking an effective and well-known modeling process or method, it is difficult to apply and promote MDA in the industry. In this paper, MDA is extended with a business model, and corresponding theory and presentation of the business model are explored, especially the dependencies and transformation mechanism of its sub-models are discussed. And a case of shopping is shown. Based on the business model, CIM is traced. And its advantages are discussed by compared with the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and Dines’ triptych Paradigm. This research is helpful to apply MDA in the industry.

    The sequence diagram can be used to design object-oriented Software; however, its modeling principles are lack of research. In this paper, its application in Software design was studied, and its inherent linkage with object-oriented programming was discussed, and the interactive mechanism among its elements was explored. The modeling principles for it were proposed; and its application in Model Driven Architecture (MDA) Software Paradigm was analyzed; and finally the model represented with it, especially the transformation and traceability of models in MDA Software Paradigm were analyzed. This research is useful to optimize Software modeling and to automate model transformation in MDA Software Paradigm.

    As Software are becoming more and more complex and platforms are increasing of diversity, Software industry has faced some unprecedented challenges, such as interoperability. It is difficult to use objected-oriented methodology and traditional Software Paradigms to meet the challenges. Model Driven Architecture (MDA) has been proposed to solve the problems. In this paper, the principles, the advantages, the disadvantages, key techniques and some important issues of objected-oriented methodology and MDA are highlighted; the mechanism of combining objected-oriented methodology and MDA Software Paradigm is studied, especially the corresponding relations among models, domains, stages and languages are explored, and a modeling process for MDA is proposed. The research is helpful to apply MDA.
