  • Rotary forming for the straightening of tubing
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1995
Co-Authors: K. Kawai, Makoto Satake, Yukio Inoue, Haruhiko Sugita
    Abstract:

Abstract A new straightening method using rotary forming with three rollers is proposed. A helical rolling mill with three rollers is used in the experiment. The prebend aluminum seamless pipes are straightened under various working conditions. It is clarified that an attainable straightening ratio of the product can be determined by the pitch and the nominal reduction in radius, and there exists a minimum length of rollers to guarantee the selected straightening ratio. The curved shape can be straightened up to 90% under optimum working conditions. It is also clarified that there exists an maximum pitch to guarantee a certain straightening ratio and the axial feed rate can be selected arbitrarily in practice.

  • Roller Curvature and Straightening Precision on Six and Two-Roller Tube Straightener
    Ironmaking & Steelmaking, 2013
    Co-Authors: Wang Ying-jie
    Abstract:

In order to improve the straightening quality of pipe straightening machine, based on mechanics of materials and metal elastic-plastic theory, the straightening process of ordinary six-roller straightening machine and two-roller Straightener was investigated, and both the advantages and the shortcomings of pipe precision straightening was proposed.A new type of composite pipe straightening machine, six and two pipe straightening machine was presented.A roller-shaped curve and its roll graph were analyzed through Matlab, and theoretical ideal roller curve straightening accuracy was also calculated.Finite element model of the 6+2 pipe straightening machine was built using the finite element software Marc, and the entire straightening process was simulated. On basis of theoretical analysis and numerical calculation,a certain original curvature of the pipe after the straightening of straightness and roundness was analyzed to prove a leveler straightening ability.A new straightening machine was present to improve the quality of pipe straightening.

  • Roller Curvature and Straightening Precision on Two-Roller Bar Straightener
    Ironmaking & Steelmaking, 2012
    Co-Authors: Wang Ying-jie
    Abstract:

In order to improve the straightening quality, the curve shape and straightening precision of double curve shape and three curvature shape was calculated by Matlab and roll shape was drawn according to the theory of elastic and elastic-plastic of bar.Considering the deformation of elastic plastic bar,the elastic plastic model of the specific two-roller Straightener was built by means of finite element analysis software MARC.The working process of the two-roller straightening was simulated and the changing parameters were analyzed during the process of straightening.Through contrasting the straightening results,it was concluded that the straightening precision of curvature shape is better than that of double curvature shape.

  • Simulation Analysis of Power Parameter for Two-roll Straightener
    Physics Examination and Testing, 2007
    Co-Authors: Wang Ying-jie
    Abstract:

Athorough investigation are made on deformation theorg of metal, straightening technique as well as Straightener design.Based on product technique of Straightener and straightening principle, the new calculation model of power parameters of the two-roll Straightener are proposed, using the experience both of other contries and of ours.Simulating the power parameters of two-roll Straightener, the design feature of the machine are expounded.Applied our model to engineering, the effect is well. The calculation model may be worthy of popularization.

  • electric hair Straightener burns an epidemiological and thermodynamic study
    Burns, 2008
    Co-Authors: Wilson N Jones, P Wong, T Potokar
    Abstract:

Abstract Hair Straighteners are a popular beauty product in the UK. An alarming rise in admissions to the Welsh Centre for Burns and Plastic Surgery, for burns caused by hair Straighteners has led to this study. A thermodynamic study was also performed to look at temperature range and cooling profiles of these devices. Thirty-one cases were identified over a 32-month period, January 2003 to August 2006. Ninety-three percent (29 cases) were children with an average age of 4 years. The majority of burns were partial thickness to hands and feet, but 23% (seven cases) required admission and 10% (three cases) required surgical intervention. The hair Straighteners reached a maximum temperature of 145 °C within 2 min of activation and took up to 7 min to cool below a temperature that would burn adult skin with a 1 s contact. Children and crawling babies are at particular risk from preventable burns from hair Straighteners. The frequency of burns from hair Straighteners is rising and even small burns to the hand can have serious sequelae and need to be treated in specialist centres. Health promotion and discussion with the industry is required to stop this new and increasing problem.
