    Abstract:

    For a firm in an open source software (OSS) ecosystem, the requirements engineering (RE) process is rather multifaceted. Apart from its typical RE process, there is a competing process, external to the firm and inherent to the firm’s ecosystem. When trying to impose an agenda in competition with other firms, and aiming to align internal product planning with the ecosystem’s RE process, firms need to consider who and how influential the other stakeholders are, and what their agendas are. The aim of the presented research is to help firms identify and analyze stakeholders in OSS ecosystems, in terms of their influence and interactions, to create awareness of their agendas, their collaborators, and how they invest their resources. To arrive at a solution artifact, we applied a design science research approach where we base artifact design on the literature and earlier work. A stakeholder influence analysis (SIA) method is proposed and demonstrated in terms of applicability and utility through a case study on the Apache Hadoop OSS ecosystem. SIA uses social network constructs to measure the stakeholders’ influence and interactions and considers the special characteristics of OSS RE to help firms structure their stakeholder analysis processes in relation to an OSS ecosystem. SIA adds a Strategic Aspect to the stakeholder analysis process by addressing the concepts of influence and interactions, which are important to consider while acting in collaborative and meritocratic RE cultures of OSS ecosystems.

    Abstract:

    Purpose: The aim is to assess the impact of various forms of stimulation of innovative activity on the innovative activity of companies in modern conditions of Russia, as well as to determine on this basis the opportunities and directions of innovative development of its economy. As the analysis of activity of business structures has shown, the process of solving the problems of innovative development in reality faces a number of obstacles, which are the result of the lack of effective solutions to stimulate the innovative activity of the personnel of most enterprises. The main objective of the study is to clarify the problems of innovative development and assess the effectiveness of the use of tools to stimulate innovation in the Strategic Aspect. Design/methodology/approach: The main research methods included: analysis of modern concepts of innovative activity, comparative analysis of the practice of innovative activity of a number of regional enterprises, method of systematization, comparative method, questionnaire, methods of quantitative and qualitative data processing. Findings: The main result of the study is the conclusion that the most important problem of the development of innovative activity of domestic enterprises is the low level of motivation of innovators, relatively high efficiency of the methods used to stimulate innovative activity of personnel. In our opinion, the problem of innovation management has a structural character, which affects the entire system of Strategic innovation management. In recent decades, there have been significant changes in the sphere of entrepreneurship and development of market relations, which gave rise to an increasing level of competition and actualized the problem of innovative development and stimulation of innovative activity in the entire market landscape and the regional environment. This is also due to the toughened conditions of competition, complications in interactions with international partners, etc. The article presents the analysis of innovative activity of a number of regional enterprises, describes the ways of stimulating innovative activity of personnel, suggests the use of tools to stimulate innovative activity of personnel in the Strategic Aspect. Originality/value: The originality and value of the article lies in the following: characteristics of process innovation modern, motivational, economic, Strategic and organizational tools, the proposed measures stimulating effect, aimed at innovative development, taking into account the existing experience of domestic enterprises, suggested ways to improve the level of innovation activity of participants of market relations to improve global competitiveness of Russian business.     Abstract:

    Purpose: The innovativeness of enterprises is dependent on many variables, including decisions regarding innovation, possessed resources and competences, and the sector of their activity. Therefore, it should be considered in a Strategic dimension, both at the level of the enterprise’s Strategic innovativeness and overall strategy. Strategic innovativeness, which is a long-term process that takes into account the interpenetration of various types of innovation together with Strategic thinking, can be an effective tool for achieving high operating efficiency and maintaining a competitive advantage in the market. The analysis of literature on the subject, as well as observations, indicates that even within one industry, there are differences in this respect. A plethora of publications focusing on the problem of innovativeness in individual enterprises, sectors, industries, and regions were found. The authors aimed to divide industries classified by NACE (the Statistical Classification of Economic Activities in the European Community) divisions into homogeneous groups in terms of the innovative undertakings of said enterprises in a given industry. Methodology: The empirical part presents the results of own research using the cluster analysis method, while all calculations were performed with the use of R software. Findings: It can be concluded that industries can be grouped into homogeneous clusters in terms of the share of innovative enterprises. The authors can also conclude that clusters listed on the basis of the share of innovative companies that introduced new or improved products and clusters listed on the basis of the share of innovative companies that introduced new or improved business processes are very similar. Implications for theory and practice: The combined value of the considerations presented in the paper is the possibility of obtaining supplementary information about the homogeneity of innovative activities of said enterprises in an individual NACE division. These results can be used for further in-depth analysis of individual groups. Originalityand value: However, there is no study presenting the similarity between industries and their division into homogeneous groups in terms of the share of innovative enterprises. Such a gap became an inspiration for the research, which allowed for the verification of this scientific problem.
