  • comparative study of voided flat plate slab and solid flat plate slab
International journal of innovative research and development, 2014
    Co-Authors: Saifee Bhagat, K B Parikh
    Abstract:

The slab is very important Structure Member in building and slab is one of the largest Member consuming concrete. When the load acting on the slab is large or clear span between columns is more, the slab thickness is on increasing. It leads to consume more material such as concrete and steel, due to that self-weight of slab is increase. To avoid these disadvantages various studies carried out and researchers suggest voided flat plate slab system to reduce the self-weight of the slab.A voided flat slab system is known as one of the effective slab system, which can reduce self-weight of slab. A voided flat slab has hollow void former made from recycled plastic placed within slab in order to reduce self-weight of slab. The voided flat slab and solid slab are consider with interior span ranging from 6m x 6m to 14m x 14m having thickness from 280mm to 600mm having spherical balls into the slabs from 180mm to 450mm. Self-weight reduction, stiffness reduction factor and solid area for punching shear is derived for different cases of voided flat plate slab.

  • Impact characteristics of CFRP Structure Member according to variation of stacking condition and impact energy
    Materials Research Innovations, 2014
    Co-Authors: J-h. Choi, I.-y. Yang, Y-j. Yang
    Abstract:

Carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) circular and square Members were made of eight-ply unidirectional prepreg sheets stacked at different angles (0/90 and 90/0°, where 0° direction coincides with the axis of the Member) and interface numbers (2, 4 and 6) based on the collapse characteristics of the CFRP circular Member. In this study, the impact energies at the crosshead speeds of 5·52, 5·14 and 4·57 m s−1 are 611·52, 529·2 and 419·44 J (at circular Members), the impact energies at the crosshead speeds of 2·16, 1·85 and 1·67 m s−1 are 372·4, 274·4 and 223·44 J (at square Members). The purpose is to examine experimentally the absorption behaviour and strength evaluation, depending on changes in the stacking configuration when the CFRP circular Member with different stacking configuration is exposed to separate impact velocity in addition to considering the impact characteristics.

  • Hygrothermal and impact damage evaluation of CFRP hat shaped sectional Members with stacking angle variation
    Materials Research Innovations, 2011
    Co-Authors: Y-j. Yang, I.-y. Yang
    Abstract:

AbstractIt is important to satisfy the requirements and standards for the protection of passengers in a car accident. There are many studies on the crushing energy absorption of a Structure Member in automobiles. In this paper, we have investigated the collapse characteristics and moisture absorption movements of carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) Structure Members when CFRP laminates are under the hygrothermal environment. In particular, the absorbed energy, mean collapse load and deformation mode were analysed for CFRP Members which absorbed most of the collision energy. Also, variation of stacking angle is important to increase the energy absorption capability. The objective of this study is to evaluate the strength reduction and moisture absorption behaviour of CFRP hat shaped Members. Therefore, we have carried our an impact collapse experiment to investigate the difference of absorbed energy and deformation mode between moisture absorbed and non‐moisture absorbed specimens. As a result, the effe...

  • A Method of Determining Dynamic Stability Load of Steel Structure Member
    2010 International Conference on E-Product E-Service and E-Entertainment, 2010
    Co-Authors: Jingwei Wu
    Abstract:

Based on the theory of elastic stability of Structure, The calculating formula for dynamic stability load of steel Structure Member being in lateral resonance under the axial dynamic load is conducted in this paper. The influence of different parameters on dynamic stability of rod is analyzed, end conditions; slender ratio, rod size; damp force and exciting frequency. Also presented in this paper are some methods of reducing the vibration of rod and advice for Structure design and analysis.
