  • SCADA Systems Management Based on WEB Services
    Procedia. Economics and finance, 2015
    Co-Authors: Traian Turc
    Abstract:

Abstract This paper presents a solution for SCADA Systems Management facilities offered by a service-oriented distributed system. The aim of this approach is to propose an architecture that ensures uniform access, optimized, consistent and flexible for SCADA Systems Management. Unlike SCADA clients or remote SCADA clients, SCADA Managements Systems have to collect and send data from different heterogeneous SCADA Systems. In order to ensure uniform access to all SCADA Systems, a service-oriented architecture is proposed.

  • An integrating architecture for networked Systems Management
Proceedings of ICC '93 - IEEE International Conference on Communications, 1993
    Co-Authors: B. Fink, H. Baldus, M. Moller, R. Kraemer
    Abstract:

The authors present an architecture for integrated Management of all resources in a networked system. Looking at the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) Management Framework, the need for a distributed Management information mode is identified which incorporates Management activity. The architecture is then presented in terms of a Management model, structuring principles for Management Systems, and the description of a federated object-oriented system specially suited for the Management system's realization.

  • Systematic measurements: At the interface between information and Systems Management, Systems engineering, and operations research
    Annals of Operations Research, 1997
    Co-Authors: Andrew P. Sage
    Abstract:

One major objective of Systems Management, at all levels of the organization, is to obtain information necessary to organize and direct individual programs associated with the production of products and services. These products and services result from the use of Systems engineering process lifecycles that are associated with: research, development, test and evaluation (RDT&E) Systems acquisition, production, procurement, or manufacturing; and Systems planning and marketing. This information can only be obtained through an appropriate program of systematic measurements and the development of appropriate models for use in processing this information. We discuss frameworks for measurements at the level of product, process, and Systems Management of process and product. Associated with each of these levels are a variety of methods of Systems analysis and operations research, and metrics. There is not an abrupt transition from activity at one level to activity at another, nor should there be. Measurements are needed at each of these levels. In this overview paper, we discuss approaches and frameworks for measurements and models that support organizational success through effective use of innovations brought about in information technology, Systems engineering and Management, and operations research.

  • Systems engineering and Systems Management for reengineering
Journal of Systems and Software, 1995
    Co-Authors: Andrew P. Sage
    Abstract:

Abstract This article presents an overview and perspective on Systems engineering and Systems Management for reengineering and related approaches to organizational and technology revitalization, especially for efforts that involve information technology and software engineering. There are at least three types of reengineering that can be considered: reengineering at the levels of product, process, and Systems Management. We claim that all three are needed, and an approach at one level only may not be satisfactory. Support for this claim is provided.

  • Systems Management for organizational support
Proceedings of IEEE Systems Man and Cybernetics Conference - SMC, 1993
    Co-Authors: Andrew P. Sage
    Abstract:

This paper discusses the role of Systems Management at the process level for support of contemporary organizations in the development of high quality products and services, especially through integrated use of information technology and Systems engineering. >

  • LCN - Specification of a MIB XML for Systems Management
27th Annual IEEE Conference on Local Computer Networks 2002. Proceedings. LCN 2002., 2002
    Co-Authors: A. Soares, M. Thiry
    Abstract:

This work presents an XML application for Systems Management. The main purpose is showing how to map the information from a MIB to a XML document. It introduces the system Management architecture based on SNMP and XML agents. According to the MIB proposed a DTD file, containing the available information structure, is specified to represent the Management information. The mapping from MIB to XML document follows some rules: identifiers are defined to mapping the Management information representation; the script file is created to associate the information from the DTD file to an identifier; The collect file is created to represent the MIB with the information collected automatically from the system Management; the XML file is created from the DTD file using the script (contents) and collect (information) files. A Web application is also presented to show the use of XML document as a MIB and its results.
