  • central artery tunnel project standard Temporary Bridges
    Pci Journal, 2000
Co-Authors: Keith Donington, Ted Wisniewski, Vijay Chandra
    Abstract:

Precast, prestressed concrete is used at many locations for a multitude of locations throughout the multi-billion dollar Central Artery/Tunnel Project in Boston, Massachusetts. One major aspect of this project is the need for Temporary bridge structures to keep traffic flowing smoothly during this long construction period. This article describes four superstructure design choices which can be used for these Temporary Bridges.

  • Multifunctional Footwalk for TMS, MS and MMS
2019 International Conference on Military Technologies (ICMT), 2019
Co-Authors: Martin Benda, Jakub Vrbka, Patrik Scudla
    Abstract:

The paper presents conceptual design of the multifunctional footwalk to Temporary bridge such as TMS (heavy bridge set), MS (bridge set) and MMS (modernized bridge set). Multifunctionality means possibility of using footwalk to a selected Temporary bridge. Due to the different constructional arrangements of the selected Temporary Bridges, the design of the footwalk beam is a key step. The footwalk bearer is the main carrying element directly connected to the selected Temporary bridge. The proposal design is based primarily on an analysis of the deficiencies present footwalks used on selected Bridges. The design concept is built to meet current standards and requirements for usability in a civilian environment.

  • Armed Forces of the Czech Republic and Temporary Bridges
    Key Engineering Materials, 2017
    Co-Authors: Martin Benda, Marek Hanak
    Abstract:

The article deals with the provisional bridging systems that are being used in the Czech Republic area. The main and mostly deployed bridge sets owned by one of the Czech agencies are covered. Every bridging systems is described, along with the way of construction, deployment and a list of main advantages and disadvantages. An evaluation of conTemporary usability of the bridging sets is conducted at the end of the article.

  • Temporary Bridges used in the czech republic
International Conference on Military Technologies, 2017
    Co-Authors: Martin Benda, Pavel Manas
    Abstract:

The paper presents Temporary bridge constructions, which are owned by state organizations in the Czech Republic. These bridge constructions would be used in case of replacement of permanent Bridges during crisis. The structures are compared especially with regard to their load capacity, the possibility of building by units of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic (ACR) and amount of material in warehouses.

  • complex aid tool for designing Temporary Bridges from the mmt bridge set
International Conference on Military Technologies, 2015
    Co-Authors: Marek Hanak, Martin Benda
    Abstract:

The article deals with designing Temporary Bridges from the MMT Bridge set. It focuses on this particular bridge set closely and describes another Temporary bridge constructions in general. The incorporation of the MMT Bridge set into the IPEC library is described either. Altogether all designed components create complex aid tool for designing Temporary Bridges from the MMT Bridge set. Moreover, two specific cases of bridge construction were examined thoroughly.

  • case study for buckling design of Temporary Bridges using system buckling analysis
Journal of Korean Society of Steel Construction, 2007
Co-Authors: Yong Soo Kyung, Byoung Hoon So, Jin Hwan Bang
    Abstract:

Generally, main girders and steel piers of Temporary Bridges form the steel rahmen structure. In this study, the rational stability design procedure for main members of Temporary Bridges was presented using a 3D system buckling analysis and second-order elastic analysis. Six types of Temporary Bridges, which can be designed and fabricated in reality, were chosen and the buckling design for them was performed in consideration ofload combinations of dead and live loads, thermal load, and wind load. Effective buckling length of steel piers, transition of 3D buckling modes, and effects of second-order analysis were investigated through a case study involving six Temporary Bridges.
