    2021
    Co-Authors: Kuikeu Oscar
    Abstract:

an considerable amount of discussions have been said on the interaction between the pandemic’s occurrence and it’s impact on the economy. One of the main and principal channel is by the way of Openess where government due to lockdows close their respective borders in ohther to ajust the main Term of Trade, thus mainly the capital account or the stock of national debt, this asserts into the closed economy by the ajustements of Supply toward demand in order to make change in price or inflation. Nevertheless regarding experience of United States, Senegal in sub Saharan Africa one the obvious challenge implied by the resilience policies against Covid-19 has been the unemployment. Cameroonian economy is one of this case because her national institution are trying to use endogenous drug to the crisis in particular toward the protection against infection who practices implie therefore the operationalization of an process of industrialization unreliable without the concern and prospects towords unemployment. In relation to this aggregate is the concern on the gross national investment who gives to the labor factor all the meaning able to produce. Therefore it’s reliable to assert that the pandemic have mainly reassess the Old relation between Openess and economic growth considering the inference make by this prospect on some concern related to this process of Openess, namely the debt or the current account, the price change or inflation, the investment, and the unemployment. Thus in the line of this prospect the line of this paper is to reassess this relationship for the case of Cameroon an emerging country in which the position toward the foreign partner is mainly realize and make by the agreements on monetary cooperation on the cfa franc who makes thus of this country an interesting case to reassess the unacheive and unbelieve relation between Openess and economic growth taking into account the main trend of the macroeconomic framework mainly governs by the Outbrek at this period of current time

  • La relación entre el comercio internacional y las políticas de inmigración: Evidencia de México y los Estados Unidos
    'Universidad el Bosque', 2020
    Co-Authors: Desilus Bendreff
    Abstract:

This paper concerned is how the Trump administration treats Mexico as Testing Ground in Term of Trade and immigration two major subjects on which the US president promised a radical policy shift. The main objective of this paper is to demonstrate that the announcement of the new immigration law known as the Reforming American Immigration for Strong Employment (RAISE) and the immigration policy as a whole are the reflection of racism and white supremacy of the Trump administration. the current account deficit between Mexico and the United States has been used as an anchor for the immigration policy. We will also analyze the realistic theory of international relations, according to which, power is at the center of all types of freed Trade agreements. We point to these following structural problems (i); the racism and white-nationalism in the Trump administration, (ii) the causes and consequences of power and the degree of exploitation in the Trade relationship between Unites States and Mexico, (iii); the Trade deficit reduction of US with NAFTA partners is not a reflect of Fair Play in a World Trade and therefore is unsustainable in the long Term, and (iv); The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth in the first quarter of 2019 (3.2 percent) of the United States is not the measure of the economy or import tariff, it is a result of a big corporate tax cut which necessarily mean a higher corporate benefits.

  • Current Account Balance and External Shocks in Nigeria
Centre for Economics and Community Economic Development, 2019
    Co-Authors: Kudaisi Bosede, Olomola P. A
    Abstract:

As a small open economy, Nigeria is highly vulnerable to adverse effect of external shocks since independence. These shocks manifest in form of oil price shocks, exchange rate volatility, global financial crisis and Terms of Trade shocks. This paper however investigated the impact of external shocks to oil price, exchange rate and Terms of Trade on the fluctuations in current account balance being an important macroeconomic variable. Multivariate Vector error correction model (VECM) was employed on quarterly data of current account, Terms of Trade, exchange rate and oil price. Data on current account, Terms of Trade and exchange rate were drawn from world development indicator and oil price was sourced from the OPEC database. The result of the impulse response function showed a negative and significant impact of external shocks on the current account fluctuations in Nigeria in the long run. The data analysis confirmed that a positive shock to the variables produce a positive response of the current account which improves it while a negative shocks deteriorates current account. The variance decomposition results showed that a significant portion of fluctuations in current account can be explained by the Terms of Trade shocks. The results also showed that a shock to the oil price produces Term of Trade shock. However, the study suggests a robust and forward-looking policy to cushion the adverse effect of external shocks in Nigeria. Also, there is need for the country to diversify her export base to reduce total reliance on oil export

  • deTerminants of coffee export supply in ethiopia error correction modeling approach
Journal of economics and sustainable development, 2015
    Co-Authors: Hassen Beshir Hussien
    Abstract:

Coffee contributes an average of 65% to total export earning in Ethiopian economy and provides a source of livelihood for a substantial number of farmers. In this study, the deTerminant of coffee export supply in Ethiopia from the supply side is specified and estimated using error correction model. From the error correction model result, the coefficient of the co-integrating equation tells us that about 78.7 percent of disequilibrium corrected each year by change in export supply of coffee.  Ethiopian coffee export supply in the short run is deTermined by real exchange rate, foreign capital inflow, real income and Term of Trade. In the long run it is deTermined by domestic price, real exchange rate, real income and Term of Trade.  In the long run there is high price elasticity but in the short run it is low. Key w ords: Error correction model, Cointegration, Coffee Export Supply, Short and Long run.

  • Nexus Between Financial Liberalization, Balance of Payment And Economic Growth In Nigeria
    'Bilingual Publishing Co.', 2020
Co-Authors: Dastu, Danladi Jonathan, Vincent, Faweya Kolapo
    Abstract:

The objectives of this paper are to examine the nexus between financial liberalization, balance of payment and economic growth in Nigeria. The scope of this study due to data availability, especially on measures of balance of payment, covers the period of 1986-2017. This study adopts econometrics techniques of analysis by using Panel Unit Root Tests and Co-integration analysis which is used to deTermine the long run relationship among economic variables. To test the co-integration relationship this study followed the methodology proposed by Pedroni (1991) who extends the Engle and Granger (1987) two step procedure to heterogeneous panel data framework. The study adopts annual time series secondary data for the period of 1986 to 2017. Balance of payment, official Exchange Rate, Inflation rate (%), Balance of Trade, Trade openness, Real Gross Domestic Product growth, and Term of Trade, all data used were obtained from the World Development Indicators. The findings of this study revealed that an increase in exchange rate, interest rate, inflation rate, and Trade openness have negatively affect economic growth. Hence, changes or movements in these variables do not necessarily prompt the liberalization decision in the real sector. Therefore, the need to address balance of payment is important, in accordance with the low rate of development in Nigeria. We therefore, recommend that government should monitor both Fiscal and Monetary policies’ variables that can significantly influence economic growth in Nigeria. That is, adequate balance of payment that can encourage appropriate financial liberalization should be put in place with, official Exchange Rate, Inflation rate (%), Balance of Trade, Trade openness
