Agonistic acts like Head and feather pecks,kicks,chases and pushes were visually evaluated TP-administered birds had significantly (p<0.05) higher ABs and TWGs than the birds in the Control. Effects of estradiol on prostatic hyperplasia induced by Testosterone Propionate in castrated rats
Modern Journal of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine, 2007Co-Authors: Zhao Ru-tongAbstract:Objective It is to investigate the effects of estradiol on prostatic hyperplasia induced by Testosterone Propionate in castrated rats.Method A prostatic hyperplasia model was established in the castrated rats treated with Testosterone Propionate,and estradiol benzoate(2.5 mg/kg) was administered subcutaneously for 4 weeks.After the rats were killed,the prostate was dissected and weighted,the prostate volume was measured and the prostate index was calculated.Result Comparison with Testosterone group,no significantly change was observed in the prostate volume and wet weight as well as the prostate index of the rats in estradiol group(P0.05).Conclusion Estradiol benzoate(2.5 mg/kg) has no inhibitory effect on prostatic hyperplasia induced by Testosterone Propionate in castrated rats.

Journal of Experimental and Integrative Medicine, 2014Co-Authors: Soni Hardik, Mehta Hardik, Jani Deepti, Patel GhanashyamAbstract:Objective: This study aimed to investigate the potenital effect of an Ayurvedic herbo-mineral formulation in a rat model of Testosterone Propionate-induced benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Methods: Male Wistar rats weighing 180-250 g were used. The selected animals were divided into six groups where each group consisted of six animals. Experimentally BPH was developed by subcutaneous administration of Testosterone Propionate (3 mg/kg) dissolved in corn oil for 28 days. The tested herbo-mineral formulation was administered orally for 28 consecutive days at 90 mg/kg, once or twice daily in different groups. On 29 th day, Blood samples were collected to evaluate different parameters like blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine, serum total protein, serum total cholesterol, serum albumin, serum globulin and serum A/G ratio. Prostate glands were dissected out for different prostatic parameters and histopathological examination. Results: The herbo-mineral formulation showed significant effect on urine output and different prostatic parameters. Significant changes in urine volume, prostate weight, prostate weight index, prostate length and prostate width were observed. In addition, positive effects on different biochemical parameters like BUN, serum creatinine, serum total protein, etc were recorded. The used formulation, at both dose levels, also showed significant reversal in histology of prostate glands when compared with disease control group. On the other hand, no side effects were observed according to the administered herbo-mineral formulation. Conclusion: The findings of this study concludes that Herbo-mineral formulation has promising effect on Testosterone Propionate-induced BPH in male wistar rats. © 2014 GESDAV

Furthermore, the identification of biomarkers is very important for rapid and accurate diagnosis of GD in young people. Aim The aim of this study was to investigate gene expression profiles during masculinization of the neonatal female mouse brain by Testosterone and to identify biomarkers related to GD. Methods Microarray analysis was performed using RNAs extracted from the brains of neonatal mice treated by intraperitoneal injection of Testosterone Propionate during the sexual determination period. Sequence motif enrichment analysis for sex hormone receptor responsive elements was performed for the flanking regions of genes that showed significant expression changes following administration of Testosterone Propionate. Main Outcome Measures We revealed a gene set with marked changes in expression during brain masculinization of neonatal female mice following administration of Testosterone Propionate. Results We identified 334 genes that showed differential expression in the masculinized neonatal female brain after Testosterone Propionate treatment. Interestingly, most of these genes are not reported to be expressed in a sexually dimorphic manner. Moreover, sequence motif enrichment analysis suggested that masculinization of the neonatal female brain by Testosterone was controlled more by estrogen receptors than androgen receptors. Conclusions Differences in genes that are expressed differentially following administration of Testosterone injection from known sexually dimorphic genes suggest that many GD-related genes are upregulated during female brain masculinization.
