  • sarcosine oxidase encapsulated polyvinyl alcohol silica aunp hybrid films for sarcosine sensing electrochemical bioelectrode
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2014
Co-Authors: Girish M. Kale, Rayna Bryaskova
    Abstract:

The amperometric response of sarcosine was measured in aqueous media containing ferrocene monocarboxylic acid using the redox enzyme sarcosine oxidase (SOD) immobilized in a composite material based on polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and partially prehydrolyzed Tetraethyl Orthosilicate (pphTEOS) at the surface of “in-house” fabricated graphite electrodes. For comparison, separate electrodes consisting of silver and gold nanoparticles (Ag/AuNPs) embedded in the PVA-pphTEOS matrix was prepared employing a novel sol-gel process based on the in situ chemical reduction of Ag or Au ions using PVA both, as a reducing agent and stabilizer. The analytical performance of the enzyme electrodes was studied in terms of linear ranges, sensitivities, response times, limits of detection, reproducibility and stability.

    'Universitas Mulawarman', 2019
Co-Authors: Utomo, Drajat Bangun, Subagyono, Dirgarini Julia R R Nurlianti, Gunawan Rahmat
    Abstract:

Preparation of Na / SBA-15 from corn leaves ash (Zea mays) as a substitute for TEOS (Tetraethyl Orthosilicate) applied as a heterogeneous catalyst in the transesterification reaction of used palm oil and methanol has been performed. The preparation of SBA-15 was conducted by surfactant template method and modification with Na was conducted by impregnation method. SBA-15 from corn leaves ash has a pore size ranging from 4.9 nm to 9.3 nm, a surface area of ??595 m2/ g, a pore diameter of 3.95 nm and a pore volume of 0.99 cm3/ g. The yeild obtained from the first transesterification process was 96.46% with the free fatty acid content of the product 0.16 mg KOH/ g. The two most prominent methyl ester based on the chromatogram of the transesterification product, the two most prominent methyl ester in the product were methyl palmitate (36,32%) and methyl oleat (36,15%).   Keywords : Maize, SBA-15, TEOS (Tetraethyl Orthosilicate), Transesterification of used palm oil

  • stability comparison between microencapsulated red glycosidic pigments and commercial fd c red 40 dye for food coloring
    Journal of Materials Science, 2017
    Co-Authors: A R Hernandezmartinez, D Torres, Gustavo A Molina, R Esparza, Francisco Quintanilla, F Martinezbustos, Miriam Estevez
    Abstract:

In a previous work, we obtained a betalain red dye from Beta vulgaris L. (beet) encapsulated with Tetraethyl Orthosilicate (TEOS) and studied its stabilities against changes of UV light, pH, and temperature. In the current research, we prepared betalain dyes from B. vulgaris L. and Myrtillocactus geometrizans (bilberry cactus), then we studied the effect of TEOS in the chemical structure by STEM and EDS analyses and its performance compared with a commercial dye FDC it is not comparable in color appearance with FD&C Red 40, but its degradation is minimal, and in the yogurt model system, it is similar to the colorant of commercial strawberry yogurt. As a result, the red dye from M. geometrizans is a viable alternative to production in large scale.
