    Abstract:

    F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET) has proven to be useful in the staging, restaging, and assessment of response to treatment in non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and Hodgkin disease. Primary Thyroid Lymphoma is a rare Thyroid tumor that usually occurs in elderly women. The authors describe a patient with primary Thyroid Lymphoma that demonstrated significant increased FDG uptake in the Thyroid gland and a lymph node in the left side of the neck.

    Abstract:

    Objective To investigate sonographic appearance of primary Thyroid Lymphoma.Methods Ultrasonograpic appearances of 20 primary Thyroid Lymphoma were analyzed and summerized.Results All Lymphomas had posterior enhancement.Thyroid was enlarged in 17 cases(85%).The sonographic appearances of the tumor were summerized into 3 types.The first type was nodular type,13 cases(65%) showed as single or multiple nodules of Thyroid,all lesions had irregular margins.The second type was diffuse type,one lobe of Thyroid was enlarged and echoes of the lobe decreased obviously,there was no mass detected in the enlarged lobe.The third type was mix type,the sonographic appearance was between the preivous two types,and was similar to sonographic appearance of Hashimotos Thyroiditis,exchotexture was heterogenously decreased,multiple hypoechoic regions patchily presented in the Thyroid.Conclusions Sonographic appearances of primary Thyroid Lymphoma are various,enlarged Thyroid and enhanced posterior echo are the main characterstics.
