The Mind-Tranquilizing and Menstruation-Regulating Method for Acupuncture Treatment of Delayed Menstrual Cycle—A Clinical Controlled Study

The treatment involved three menstrual cycles. The evaluations were done by scoring the symptoms before treatment and at the end of each menstrual cycle.ResultsAfter treatment, significant differences were found between the two groups in the therapeutic effects (P < 0.05).ConclusionThe therapeutic effect of the mind-Tranquilizing and menstruation-regulating acupuncture method is significantly superior to that of the routine acupuncture method for delayed menstrual cycle

A case of self-injection of 1.5 g xylazine by a 27-year-old farmer is reported. He subsequently became comatose, hypotensive, bradycardic, and mildly glycemlc. An intensive supportive therapy including intubation and ventilation was required. The patient made a full recovery over the next 30 h. The largest concentrations measured were 4.6 mg/L in plasma, 446 mg/L in gastric fluid, and 194 mg/L in urine. The calculated plasma half-life was 4.9 h. Kinetic data correlated with clinical symptoms. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of xylazine were done by thin-layer chromatography, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, and high-performance liquid chromatography. These methods allow the detection "of small amounts substance in stomach, plasma, and urine. Liquid-liquid extraction was used for the isolation of drug. The sensitvity is high, and with these methods, a rapid analysis is possible. Xylazine intoxications in humans are rare. We describe the management of acute poisoning and present a review of xyl;~zine toxicity in humans.

Tranquilizing and Allaying Excitement Needling Method Affects BDNF and SYP Expression in Hippocampus
Hindawi Limited, 2017Co-Authors: Peng Zheng, Hongyan Zhao, Bailin Song, Fuchun WangAbstract:Sleep disorder is a state of sleep loss caused by various reasons, which leads to a series of changes, such as emotion, learning and memory, and immune function. “Tranquilizing and allaying excitement” was widely used in clinical treatment of insomnia; however, the mechanism was still not very clear. We randomly divided rats into three groups: control group, sleep deprivation group, and acupuncture treatment group. We observed BDNF and SYP expression in hippocampus in these three groups. Both protein contents and mRNA contents of BDNF and SYP were measured by western blot, immunohistochemistry, and RT-PCR analysis. The sleep deprivation model was established using modified multiple platform sleep deprivation method (MMPM). Our study explored the BDNF and SYP abnormality in hippocampus caused by sleep deprivation and “Tranquilizing and allaying excitement” intervention regulated the abnormal expression of BDNF and SYP caused by sleep deprivation on the short run and the long run. Our study provided a molecular evidence that “Tranquilizing and allaying excitement” treatment in rats with sleep disorder affects learning and memory ability

Chinese acupuncture & moxibustion, 2010Co-Authors: Yan Zhang, Lu Yu, Tie Li, Cheng Chen, Fuchun WangAbstract:OBJECTIVE: To observe the therapeutic effect of Tranquilizing and allaying excitement needling method on insomnia of heart and spleen deficiency and the effect of brain blood flow. METHODS: Sixty cases were randomly divided into a Tranquilizing and allaying excitement needling method group (observation group) and an eight confluence points selected group (control group), 30 cases in each group. The observation group was treated by acupuncture at Sishencong (EX-HN 1), Shenmen (HT 7), and Sanyinjiao (SP 6) with Tranquilizing and allaying excitement needling method. The control group was treated by acupuncture at Shenmai (BL 62) and Zhaohai (KI 6). Their therapeutic effects and changes of brain blood flow were observed. RESULTS: The total effective rate was 93.3% (28/30) in the observation group which was better than 83.3% (25/30) in the control group (P < 0.05). After treatment, the peak velocity of systolic (Vp) and diastolic blood flow velocity (Vd) of middle cerebral artery, basilar artery and vertebral artery were increased in the both groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), with more obvious increase in the observation group (P < 0.01, P < 0.05), except the Vd of left vertebral artery. CONCLUSION: Both the Tranquilizing and allaying excitement needling method and the eight confluence points selected needling method can improve the clinical signs and symptoms. Meanwhile, the therapeutic effect of acupuncture is related with improvement of brain blood flow. However, the Tranquilizing and allaying excitement needling method has better therapeutic effect on insomnia of heart and spleen deficiency.

Industrial Crops and Products, 2013Co-Authors: Zahid Ali, Showkat Hussain Ganie, Alka Narula, M P Sharma, P S SrivastavaAbstract:Abstract Clitoria ternatea , commonly known as Shankhpushpi is an important drug of Ayurvedic medicine used for centuries as a memory enhancer, nootropic, antistress, anxiolytic, anticonvulsant, Tranquilizing and sedative agent. In the present study, genetic variability and variation in Kaempferol, a chemical constituent in eleven accessions of C. ternatea collected from different regions of the country was assessed using 25 RAPD primers and HPLC analysis respectively. Only 7 primers amplified a total of 71 reproducible, clear and scorable bands of which 32 (45%) were polymorphic. The number of RAPD bands per primer was in the range of 7–14 with an average of 10 bands per primer. The genetic distance ranged from 0.02 to 0.28. A dendrogram based on UPGMA clustering method revealed two major clusters. Cluster 1 comprises of the accessions of North India while cluster 2 includes accessions of Central and South India. The Kaempferol content was 9.31–20.01 mg/g dw, being highest in the accession of Kurukshetra (Haryana).
