  • an empirical research on the application of coconut leaf sheath on jewellery products mohd faiz jalaludin
    2017
    Co-Authors: Mohd Faiz Jalaludin
    Abstract:

This research focused on experimental application of recycle material on jewellery products. This research experimented on suitable techniques to be applied on recycle material of jewellery products and the suitability of the recycle material to be applied on jewellery products. This research aims on how to test the durability and suitability of the recycle material being applied on jewellery products. The researcher has chosen the coconut leaf sheath material to be applied on jewellery products. A variety of experiment has been done to coconut leaf sheath that produces improvement and added value to the recycle material and at the same time suitable to be applied on the jewellery products. This research was done based on the objective which is to generate a faster profit and side income while waiting for the slow coconut palm growing process, to fulfill the manufacturing industry that needs renewable raw material especially in fiber industry, to utilize the wastes of natural fiber into profitable and marketable raw material especially for rural entrepreneurs and to introduce the improvement and new added value of mix media method to Malaysia’s jewellery industry. The methodology used is experiment method in order to explore various options of technique and material used to achieve optimum results. The experiment includes coloring, shaping, forming, designing, and preserving that recycle material in order to make it ideal for application on jewellery products. The researcher only focused the experiment on the surface and not into micro molecule treatment just to make sure this experiment is easy to handle by anyone who is interested to commercialize it. This research concluded that the enhancement of recycle material will generate faster profit and provide side income to the rural coconut entrepreneurs and contribute to the development of renewable fiber in manufacturing industry. At the same time, it will provide a lot of work opportunities and a lot of vacancies for Unemployed Person. The researcher also concluded that the waste of natural fiber can be transformed into profitable material and the application of coconut leaf sheath on jewellery products with some new added value will be a spectacular identity of Malaysia as the largest agriculture country.

  • future outlook and financial strain testing the Personal agency and latent deprivation models of unemployment and well being
Journal of Occupational Health Psychology, 2005
Co-Authors: Peter Alexander Creed, Jan Klisch
    Abstract:

Two hundred and thirty-nine Unemployed adults were administered scales tapping well-being, financial strain, future orientation, the latent benefits of employment, neuroticism, length of unemployment and whether the Person was the principal income earner in the household. First, the study tested the relative contributions of the Latent Deprivation Model and the Agency Restriction Model in predicting psychological well-being of Unemployed people. Second, the study tested whether financial strain interacted with future orientation to predict well-being, or whether financial strain was mediated by future orientation. The study found support for the Agency Restriction Model over the Latent Deprivation Model, but concluded that examining internal Personal agency processes in the context of the individual's temperament and situation is needed to explain the decline in well-being associated with unemployment. No interaction effects were identified and future orientation did not mediate the influence of financial strain. The contextual variable of the Unemployed Person being a principal income earner influenced well-being directly, the latent benefit of social support influenced well-being indirectly via future orientation, length of unemployment influenced well-being indirectly through negative future orientation, whereas the Personality variable of neuroticism had a direct effect on well-being and an indirect effect via future orientation. Practical implications are also indicated.

  • experiencing the meaning of life among young Unemployed Person
    2018
    Co-Authors: Lana Brezovec
    Abstract:

This magistrate thesis speaks about what young Unemployed people think about life purpose. At the same time I compare their point of view with employed people and their life purpose. As a start position I took theory of Victor E. Frankl, psychiatrist and humanist, who says that a Person as human being is constantly looking for a purpose in life and if it doesn't find it it's high possibility to get mentally sick from a life despair. Theoretical part says about theory of Victor E. Frankl and basic importance of logo therapy. That part is followed by early stages of adulthood and main goals that should be achieved by young adults. Researches show that becoming adult is harder if young people are Unemployed. They show that young people feel guilt, they don't see future as bright and they feel life is hard and complex as well. For that reason in empirical part I decided to research correlation between being employed and purpose of life. Unemployed people are less motivated and because of that they think their life has no purpose. For those who are Unemployed, one of the important factors in life is support of their family. I was curious finding out if family support has a positive impact on life of Unemployed young in general. I used qualitative approach for this research. Results show differences in feeling the purpose of life between Unemployed and employed young adults are minimal. There is exact strategy that helps young Unemployed adults to find out the purpose in their life. The value of this research is in facts that we need to respect and pay attention when working with Unemployed. At the same time I want to show the importance of theory of Victor E. Frankle The theory is about meaning of life and accepting responsibility and is importantin future work of social pedagoguish.

  • An evaluation of active and passive labour market policy
    Applied Economics, 1998
    Co-Authors: Kornelius Kraft
    Abstract:

This paper reports results of an empirical study on the effectiveness of labour market policy. Data from Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Sweden and the United States are used to apply a simultaneous equation model with wages and employment being the endogenous variables. In order to explain employment, the amount of unemployment benefits per Unemployed (passive labour market policy) and payment for wage subsidies and training per employed and Unemployed Person (active labour market policy) are used in addition to real wages and output. Wages and output have their expected impact on total employment. It turns out that passive labour market policy has a negative, and active labour market measures a positive, effect on the number of Persons employed.

  • Long-term Unemployed People as Co-producers
    Engaging Public Sector Clients, 2009
    Co-Authors: John Alford
    Abstract:

Being Unemployed was an infrequent and a transient experience in most OECD countries in the postwar periodup to the late 1970s. Unemployment usually only affected a very small percentage of the workforce, and it was largely a cyclical phenomenon. The unemployment benefit was seen as a temporary income support during the brief interval before the next job. Typically, an Unemployed Person could expect to get another job within a matter of weeks, or at worst a few months. The few people who had been Unemployed for a long period were seen either as unemployable for some reason — such as disability, psychological problems, or alcoholism — or as simply unwilling to work.20
