  • The Effect of Ethanolic Extract of Spondias Mombin on the Vagina Cytology, Haematological Parameters, Gross Appearance and Histology of Reproductive Tract of the Female Rabbit
    2012
    Co-Authors: Adepoju Rotimi Ajayi
    Abstract:

Ten female experimental cross bred rabbits were utilized in determining the effect of ethanolic leaf extract of Spondias mombin on the Vagina Cytology, haematological parameters, gross appearance and histology of reproductive tract of the female rabbit. They were divided into two groups - test (A) and control (B) groups - each comprising five (5) rabbits. Fourteen days of acclimatization was observed during which the animals were pr.ophylactically treated for endo and ecto parasites. After, Pretreatment Vaginal Cytology was carried out for fourteen (14) consecutive days on the Test group. At the expiration of the 14 days, blood was collected from theTest group for pre-treatment haematology. The Test group was then administered 800mglkg body weight of ethanolic leaf extract of Spondias mombin (Irnl) for fourteen (14) days simultaneously with another round of Vaginal Cytology. After, blood samples were .collected for post treatment haematology and the animals sacrificed for gross and histological studies of the reproductive tract. The control group was administered 1 ml of distilled water for 14 days at the same period with extract administration and was also sacrificed alongside the test group. The Vaginal Cytology patterns demonstrated at both pretreatment and treatment test were both regular. The extract did not alter the regularity of the pattern. The Vagina Cytology pattern was plotted and there was no significant difference before the administration of the drug and after administration of drug. The reproductive organs harvested too did not show any significant difference in length, width and weight. The average weight adjusted diameter of the right ovaries of the test group was 0.506, while that of the control was 0.429.The average adjusted weight of the right ovaries of the test group was 0.068, while that of the control group was 0.079. The average weight- adjusted diameters of the left ovaries of the test and control group were 0,506 and 0.420 respectively. Comparing the mean diameter of treated ovary (right and left) and control, the difference was significant (p

The average weight- adjusted diameters of the left ovaries of the test and control group were 0,506 and 0.420 respectively. Comparing the mean diameter of treated ovary (right and left) and control, the difference was significant (p<0.05). The average organ/bodyweight ratio of the left ovaries of the test group was 0.056, while that of the control group was 0.062. This difference was not significant (pwhite blood cell count of the test animals before and after treatment were within normal range: The same for red blood cell count, granulocytes, lymphocytes and monocytes. However, the packed' cell volume of the test animals before treatment (19.2%) and after treatment (15.2%) were far less than the normal value of 38.0 - 40.0%. The work established non- interference of leaf ethanolic extract of Spondias mombin at dosage rate of 800mg/kg BW with the estrous cycle of the rabbit hence non-interference with estrus. Also, the leaf extract had no deleterious effect on the different segments of the reproductive part grossly and histologically, it rather appeared to enhance folliculogenesis in the rabbit. Therefore it was concluded that leaf ethanolic extract of Spondias mom bin at dosage rate of 800mg/kg BW is safe for medicinal use in non-gravid adult rabbit and is a potential agent for increased folliculogenesis hence increased possible number of ova available for fertilization in the rabbit.

  • Significance and deficiency of comparison between routine assay of Vaginal secretion and infection factors in uterine cervix/Vagina Cytology examination
Maternal and Child Health Care of China, 2008
    Co-Authors: Hu Zheng
    Abstract:

Objective:To discuss the significance and deficiency of the comparison between routine assay of Vaginal secretion and infection factors in uterine cervix/Vagina Cytology examination. Methods:Vaginal secretion in back vault and shelled epithelium in uterine cervix canal were collected to make smears routinely. They were used in routine assay of Vaginal secretion and uterine cervix/Vagina Cytology examination. The difference of infection factors of them were analyzed through reviewed comparison. Results:The coherence positive rate of the two assays(examination) was 92.15%,while abhorrent rate was 7.85%.The reason of the disagreement:①Mistake of routine assay of Vaginal secretion being due to technical personnel factors occupied 4.71%;②Disagreement of sampling position occupied 2.09%;③Methodological reason occupied 1.05%.Conclusion:The comparison between routine assay of Vaginal secretion and infection factors in uterine cervix/Vagina Cytology examination may improve the pathogenic examination quality, while decreasing the exam mistake. But the comparison still has some deficiency.

  • the observation and inquiry of precancerous cell lesion in cervixes Vagina Cytology ii
Chinese Journal of Birth Health & Heredity, 2004
    Co-Authors: L Yin
    Abstract:

Objective and Methods: The cervical secretion of 250 cervical erosion women has been stained by somatic fast stain. Infammatory, precancerous and cancerous cells were micrographed. Results and Conclusion: We researched process of precancerous cells and cancerogenous cells on the basis of relative theory and practice, it is considered that the scale cell forms should be classified into three types: Inflammatory, precancerous and cancerous cells.
