  • Waste Oil/water emulsion treatment by membrane processes
    Journal of Hazardous Materials, 1998
    Co-Authors: Su-hsia Lin, W.j Lan
    Abstract:

The present work investigated the treatment of Waste drawing Oil which is a high-strength Waste Oil/water emulsion commonly used in the cable and wire industries. Semi-batch ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) processes along with prefiltration by a microfilter were employed to treat the Waste Oil/water emulsion. Experiments were conducted to examine the performances of each of the UF and RO treatment steps. The observed results have clearly shown the excellent performances of the combined UF and RO treatment processes. The water quality of permeate from the combined treatment processes has been consistently excellent which permits direct discharge or can be considered for reuse.

  • THE TREATMENT OF Waste Oil-IN-WATER EMULSIONS IN THE METALWORKING PROCESS
    Safety Engineering, 2018
    Co-Authors: Vesna Lazarević, Miodrag Stanisavljević
    Abstract:

Used water emulsions obtained in the metalworking process contain Oils and grease, organic compounds as well as secondary Oils and anti-corrosion fluids, metal ions and other things. Since they can have a negative effect on the environment before released into the recipients, they need to be processed through the primary, secondary and tertiary phase of treatment. The primary treatment procedure of Waste Oil-in-water emulsions is used for the separation of free and non-emulsifying Oils as well as for balancing the course of Wastewater and Oil concentration. In the secondary phase of treatment of Waste Oil-in-water emulsions, the emulsifying Oil and a large fraction of dissolved Oil are carried out. What follows is the tertiary biological treatment based on the basic biological processes present in nature. Key words: metalworking, Waste Oil-in-water emulsions, treatment

  • Harmless Treatment Technology of Waste Oil–Based Drilling Fluids
    Petroleum Science and Technology, 2014
Co-Authors: S. X. Xie, Guancheng Jiang, Mian Chen, X. B. Huang, Chuan Liang, Xiuping Jia
    Abstract:

Waste Oil–based drilling fluids are hazardous Wastes containing Oil, heavy metals, and organic pollutants. The common treatment methods include pool storage, use of a secure landfills, heat treatment, and use of eel-roasting treatment technology. However, these methods not only Waste many useful resources (because the Oil is discarded rather than recovered) but also increase the pro-environment cost of Oil companies. This article discusses the features of Waste Oil–based drilling fluids and develops a useful recycling and safe disposal technology for Waste Oil–based drilling fluids that not only recycles useful Oil but also reuses and disposes of the rest of the mud and Wastewater. A novel formula of Oil recovering agent and sludge treatment processing formula of the Waste Oil–based drilling fluids was developed. In addition, a cost-effective way to deal with and recover Waste Oil–based drilling fluids was found. The rate of Oil recovery is greater than 90%, and the quality of the recycled Oil is very goo...
