    Co-Authors: John Kaye
    Abstract:

Postcode data for London E17 (Walthamstow) was selected from the Geoindex for years 1996-2001. Data contains postcode, year of archive timestamp and link to archive instance on archive.org's Wayback Machine About the Geoindex http://dx.doi.org/10.5259/ukwa.ds.2/geo/1 The ~2.5 billion 200 OK responses in the JISC UK Web Domain Dataset (1996-2010) dataset have been scanned for geographic references - specifically postcodes. This set of postcode citations, found at particular URLs, crawled at particular times, forms an historical geoindex of the UK web. For more details about how the data was created, its format, and how to use it, see here.
    2015
    Co-Authors: Jacob, Viviany Cardoso
    Abstract:

Abstract : Evaluate the usability of university pages can significantly contribute to improving the dissemination processes, recovery and use of information as it allows to detect and correct usability problems, making websites easier to use. These benefits may be higher considering that academic websites demands of environments characterized by intensive use of information and knowledge. The objective of this research is to analyze the evolution of the usability of the main pages of websites of universities through specialized checklist. Presents the theoretical foundation of the development of the Internet and the web, on main pages, usability and on the checklist usability evaluation technique. It also presents a brief description of the Wayback Machine tool and work related to the theme of this research. With regard to methodological aspects it is an applied research exploratory, descriptive literature and qualitative-quantitative. Proposes a specialized checklist to assess the usability of the main pages of universities that consists of ninety questions divided into three categories: information and university-related services; information for social networking; and information about the general usability. The proposed checklist was applied to historical versions of the main pages of the five best Brazilian universities positioned in the Webometrics ranking: USP, UFRGS, Unicamp, UFRJ and UFSC. For each of these institutions, annual versions available from your main pages recorded were evaluated in the Wayback Machine tool, between the years 1997 and 2014. The results showed that, in all versions of analyzed pages, the proposed checklist allowed the detection of problems usability. Moreover, in general, there was an evolution of the usability of the main pages of the universities surveyed in the 18 years evaluated. It follows that the Wayback Machine tool proved to be suitable for studies with historical versions of the evaluated websites and that the proposed checklist allows you to evaluate efficiently detecting usability problems with reduced costs, the usability of the main pages of universities
