  • Automatic Recognition System for Numeric Characters on Time-sharing Ammeter Dial Plate
    Computer Engineering, 2005
    Co-Authors: Chen Dequan
    Abstract:

Research on automatic recognition for numeric characters on time-sharing Ammeter dial plate, which is the key problem for Ammeter error analysis system is presented. The difficulties preventing the correct recognition come from: decline of fixing, half character recognition and decimal calculation. An automatic recognition system for numeric characters on time-sharing Ammeter dial plate is constructed. This system uses binary transform, projecting algorithm, open algorithm, close algorithm, edge detection and Hough transform as pretreatment and puts forward two algorithms on whole character recognition and half character recognition. The experiments show that this system is robust.

  • AC Ammeters: B&K Precision 2831E (Part 2 of 2)
    Columbia Gorge Community College, 2017
    Co-Authors: Pytel Jim
    Abstract:

This lecture, published by Columbia Gorge Community College, demonstrates the use of the AC Ammeter function of the B&K Precision 2831E digital multimeter. In the presentation, the Ammeter function is used to "verify the anticipated current draw of a simple single phase AC circuit." The recording runs 3:29 minutes in length and part one is available to view separately

  • A DC current limited Ammeter protection circuit
    IEEE Transactions on Education, 1992
    Co-Authors: C.e. Smith
    Abstract:

Ammeters are always connected in series in the branch where a current is measured. Unfortunately, parallel connection can destroy a meter if connected by mistake, as often happens in introductory electric circuits instructional laboratories. To protect an Ammeter from excessive currents caused by parallel connection, an op-amp/Zener diode circuit has been designed to effectively operate as a current-limited Ammeter. >

  • Communication—On Zero-Resistance Ammeter and Zero-Voltage Ammeter
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 2017
Co-Authors: Lietai Yang, Andrew A. Yang
    Abstract:

Zero-resistance Ammeters (ZRAs) are often used to measure coupling currents. The ZRAs may have a resistance of 50 kohm when they are used to measure currents near 1 nA, so calling them ZRA is only an appropriate when the measured current is high, but not appropriate when the current is low. The term often causes a wrong perception that ZRAs have zero resistance. In fact, the only criterion to determine whether an Ammeter can be effectively used to measure the coupling currents is how its voltage is close to zero. Therefore, such Ammeters have been called zero-voltage Ammeters (ZVAs).

  • ICYCS - Automatic Recognition System for Numeric Characters on Ammeter Dial Plate
2008 The 9th International Conference for Young Computer Scientists, 2008
    Co-Authors: Hongjuan Qian
    Abstract:

The automatic recognition system for numeric character on Ammeter dial plate which can be used on electronic display Ammeter and mechanical Ammeter is proposed in this paper. This system use binary transformation, projecting algorithm, thinning, Hough transformation, open algorithm and close algorithm as preprocessing, put forward nine segment display projection algorithm based on seven segment display to extract digital characteristics and use layered pattern base to realize numeric character recognition. Characters similar in form can be distinguished better by using nine segment display projection algorithm. The experiments show that the accurate numeric character recognition rate is up to 98% by using the system and the recognition time of 6 digits mechanical Ammeter is less than 18 milliseconds. This system is a fast and high accuracy method of numeric character recognition through testing. The system also can be used to other areas such as real time vehicle plate recognition, ID card recognition and passport recognition.
