Development of automated crop and soil agronomic information system.

AdekayodeAbstract:The use of C# computer programme to develop automated agronomic information system was demonstrated using Microsoft Access 2007 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 suits. The database table listing such essential agronomic information as crop name, scientific name, crop category I, crop category II, planting date, crop spacing, crop population per hectare, maturation, yield, common diseases, common pests and soil requirement was created in Microsoft Access and saved with .accdb file format. The Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 was launched and a new project created with Windows Forms Application Templates and C# project type. The design and user interfaces were created after activating the Toolbox for the Application of the Label, Text and Button controls. The double click on the Add button displayed the code page for coding the information while the debugging displayed the user interface. When the crop name was entered in the space provided in the user interface and the Load Information button clicked, the agronomic information on a particular crop already stored in the database was displayed while the Reset button cleared all the information for a reentry of another crop name. Click once method of Application Publishing was used for programme Publishing and installation on another computer. IMPLEMENTATION OF COMPUTER Application SOFTWARE FOR SOIL pH IN THE DETERMINATION OF SOIL NUTRIENT STATUS

AdekayodeAbstract:The nutrient status of soils based on the soil pH was determined using the C Sharp (C#) computer program to develop an Application software that revealed the relationship between the soil pH and the available essential elements in the soil. The databases were created using Microsoft Access as backend and Microsoft Visual Studio as the frontend. The database table listing parameters of Upper and Lower pH limits, Category of soil pH, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium, Calcium, Magnesium, Sulfur, Iron, Manganese, Zinc, Boron, Molybdenum, Copper and Cobalt was created in Microsoft Access and saved with .accdb file format. The Design and User Interfaces were created in Microsoft Visual Studio. When the pH was input in the space provided in the User Interface and the Load Information button clicked, the pH category and availability status of each of the essential elements were generated and displayed. The four options for the nutrient availability status were abundant, moderate, slightly and sparingly. Click once method of Application Publishing was used for program Publishing and installation of the software on another computer.

Joining a smartphone ecosystem: Application developers’ motivations and decision criteria
Information and Software Technology, 2014Co-Authors: Stefan Koch, Markus KerschbaumAbstract:Abstract Context The ecosystems surrounding current smartphones operating systems, especially the Application markets, provide significant value for customers and therefore possibilities for provider differentiation. Why do independent Application developers and innovators join these ecosystems, and which factors influence their choice between different platform options? Objective This paper evaluates why innovators publish Applications for smartphone operating systems, and which factors influence their choice between the two most common platforms, Android and Apple iOS, and leading them to join this respective ecosystem. Method A quantitative questionnaire containing questions related to demographics, motivational factors, factors impacting choice of platform and Application Publishing history. 113 Application developers from all over the world responded, relatively evenly split between the two operating systems. Results The main motivations are the experience of fun and intellectual stimulation during the process itself and learning of new skills or know-how. Financial gain, on the other hand, was found to be of less importance. There are also significant differences between the developers according to their preferred platform, e.g. iOS developers are more often motivated by financial gain. In choosing which ecosystem to join, network size, openness and entry barriers play major roles, and according to these criteria the two ecosystems are perceived to be significantly different. In addition, the toolkit quality is one of the most important factors for developers, but not a point of differentiation between the two ecosystems. Conclusion This paper complements prior research with the viewpoint of the developers themselves, focusing on how they perceive both technical and economic, as well as governance related aspects. In addition, most research so far has focused on one aspect only, mostly Application markets, while this study assess the perception of the whole ecosystem, including end user device, markets and OS. It is concluded that the motivations and perceptions of developers comprise a major component in the creation and management of a large and diverse ecosystem, and that there exists a significant group of user innovators, who are not motivated by financial gain. There are several other aspects besides network size that drive the choice of platform. In addition, developers perceive hardware, software, marketplaces and other aspects as one single construct. Any platform owner therefore has to carefully consider and manage their expectations and perceptions.

Creating a dynamic data center with Microsoft System Center

Microsoft System Center is a suite of tools that builds upon the five core components, which include System Center Configuration Manager R2 , also known as ConfigMan , System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), System Center Data Protection Manager , System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 , and System Center Essentials. One of the technologies that are fairly widespread in most industries for the creation of dynamic datacenter is published Applications. Publishing an Application to remote users consists of a fairly complex and sometimes large infrastructure; this can be even larger depending on the Applications published. Common among servers, but even more so among published Application environments, is the evolution from its initial design to what it is today such as, a farm that was initially designed to publish Application “X” 5 years ago may now publish Application “Z,” and not even publish Application “X” anymore. The major vendors of Application Publishing software provide tools and guides that help identify the true usage of the Application servers.

DEXA (1) - Organizing Scientific Competitions on the Semantic Web

Modifiable "Forkable Open-source programs" on code sharing platforms make Applications Apps utilizing data ready for reuse. In order to organize a web-based scientific competition, platforms for both semantic data resources and Application programs need to be integrated so as to yield a creative cycle between data publication and Application development. We developed the LinkData.org platform to integrate both data and Application Publishing platforms by recording dependency graphs, the utility of which we tested by organizing a scientific competition for synthetic biology on the platform. It was found that participants to the competition generated many dependency graphs by forking pre-existing Applications or reusing schema of pre-existing datasets. These creative activities could not be observed explicitly without being recorded such as by dependency graphs among the datasets and Applications on the platform. Hence we suggest a worldwide system needs to be established to record and harvest such dependency graphs from distributed data platforms and Application-development platforms around the world, so that our intellectual and creative activities using open datasets for Application development may be recorded properly.
