    Abstract:

    Peak to average power ratio (PAPR) reduction of OFDM signals has extensively been studied in the literature. Tone Reservation (TR) is one of the most famous algorithms and has already been included in some digital television standards such as DVB-T2 and ASTC3.0. However, the literature is still lacking theoretical analysis and perFormance bounds for the PAPR reduction of OFDM signals, especially using TR algorithms. For the first time, this paper provides fundamental results establishing the links between TR-PAPR reduction and the remaining signal distortions at the output of a non-linear high power amplifier (HPA) with and without memory effects. We first derive a generic EVM Expression relying on the statistical characteristics of the samples composing the time domain signal and for any PAPR reduction technique. Computing these moments in the case of the quadratically constrained quadratic problem (QCQP) algorithm known as the optimal solution to the TR-PAPR reduction problem allows us to get the lower bound of the EVM of OFDM signals after TR-PAPR reduction and non-linear HPA. As a reference, we also provide the EVM Expression using a clipping-based PAPR reduction method. The obtained EVM Expressions have direct practical meaning since they are in function of the input power back-off (IBO) applied to the signal before the HPA. They also consist in a general analytical framework for OFDM PAPR reduction since they can be further exploited to analyze the perFormance of sub-optimal TR-based PAPR reduction algorithms.

    Abstract:

    In this paper, we investigate and derive a Closed-Form Expression for the power allocation scheme of full duplex (FD) device to device (D2D) communications underlaying wireless cellular network. In this scenario, we consider the FD-D2D pair sharing the uplink resources of cellular users. We first derive a Closed-Form Expression for the ergodic rate of the D2D link. Then we Formulate the optimization problem which aims to maximize the D2D link rate while fulfilling the minimum QoS requirement of the cellular user. We further derive a Closed-Form Expression for the optimal power allocation strategy for both D2D and cellular users. The simulation results show the accuracy of the derived power allocation scheme and provide important insights on the separation distance between the D2D users and the interfering cellular user. In addition, the results provide important conditions to switch between FD and half duplex (HD) D2D modes.

    Abstract:

    In this paper, we analyze the problem of deploying small cellular cells into a large broadcast cell in the framework of the convergence between the Long Term Evolution (LTE) and the Digital Broadcasting Video (DVB) technologies. In this work, a non- cooperative deployment of these technologies is considered in the sense that cellular and broadcast networks interfere on each other. In literature, there is no work dealing with the ergodic capacity of full cross-interfering links in a DVB-LTE convergence scenario. Our contribution lies in two folds: i) the global ergodic capacity is derived in Closed-Form with Rayleigh fading channel on each link. This derivation allows us to evaluate the global data rate of the DVB and LTE in a spectral overlap scenario. ii) The analytical Forms allow the evaluation of the influence of system parameters on the global and broadcast data rate, e. g. mobile and broadcast power, distance between the broadcast receiver and the LTE base station.

    In this paper, we derive a Closed-Form Expression for the inverse moments of one sided-correlated random Gram matrices. Such a question is mainly motivated by applications in signal processing and wireless communications for which evaluating this quantity is a question of major interest. This is for instance the case of the best linear unbiased estimator, in which the average estimation error corresponds to the first inverse moment of a random Gram matrix.

    Abstract:

    We derive an explicit Closed-Form Expression for the exact bit-error rate (BER) computation of generalized hierarchical M-ary pulse amplitude modulations over additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and fading channels. This Expression can also be used to obtain the exact BER of generalized hierarchical quadrature amplitude modulations (square and rectangular). For the AWGN case, these Expressions are in the Form of a weighted sum of complementary error functions, and are solely dependent on the constellation size M, the carrier-to-noise ratio, and a constellation parameter which controls the relative message importance.
