Despite the diversity of security and privacy vulnerabilities, SNS have acquired and are still acquiring great popularity. Cybercrimes exploiting flaws in information technology and the imprudent trust of users, in who they add as contacts, are alarming and can lead to serious consequences in terms of identity theft, harassment, cyber bullying and defamation. People share personal and sensitive information on profiles and trust SNS service providers and friends to keep their information private. Our study reveals that trust in SNS and trust in friends are two different perspectives of the factor ‘trust’ which can be predicted by ‘security’, ‘privacy’ and ‘cyber safety education’ factors. Moreover, trust is a vital factor that affects the intention of a user to participate in the collaborative sharing Pattern. A multiple regression analysis has been used to validate the proposed research framework. The results from 380 SNS users in a school community, including students, teachers, parents and school admin show that perceived privacy and security in SNS are the antecedents of trust in SNS while cyber safety education is the antecedent of trust in friends. Sensible levels of trust aid people in collaborating safely using SNS. ‘Trust’ also influences the intention to use SNS for participation/Collaboration among users.

Most security controls are generic, not country dependent. The country-specific part of the topic relates to the government bodies responsible for suggesting controls and monitoring adherence to them in individual countries. The chapter covers: types of security control – classifying them and determining how the controls to be adopted relate to different forms of sharing; the stages in deciding what security control is appropriate – identifying antecedents, and developing the motivation that prompts parties to adopt security controls; calculation of the cost-benefits of the security measures; and how security data should be logged and evaluated. Other issues, such as the process by which citizens are encouraged to adopt the acceptable usage policy, have been omitted for lack of space. Finally, the chapter looks at the government departments that have a role in security.

Annals of Library and Information Studies (ALIS), 2015Co-Authors: Bharvi Dutt, Khaiser NikamAbstract:Collaborative aspects of research publications pertaining to global solar cell research as reflected in Science Citation Index-Expanded (SCI-E) for the years 1991, 1995, 2000, 2005 and 2010 have been studied. Using various bibliometric indicators, the study examined the Pattern of co-authorship and nature of Collaboration with respect to different types of institutions, countries and prolific institutions. It also looked into impact of Collaboration in terms of citations. The study observed a peculiar behaviour wherein publication from certain prolific countries and institutions emerging from domestic Collaboration resulted in higher impact than those from international Collaboration

Scientometrics of Collaboration Pattern in solar cell research in India

Almost half of the total output emerged out of domestic and internationalCollaboration. Academic institutions had almost equal proportion of output emerging from domestic as well internationalCollaboration. Among the prolific institutions National Physical Laboratory-Delhi of the Council of Scientific and IndustrialResearch had the highest publications emerging out of collaborative research. Indian researchers collaborated with theircounterparts in 31 countries; however, South Korea, Japan, USA, Germany, England, France and Greece were dominantcollaborating research partners. Various bibilometric indicators have been used to examine collaborative research activity.Research Collaboration gained momentum during the later decade. International collaborative output had more impactcompared to domestic Collaboration in terms of citations per paper.

Along with computation of various network features at local and global levels to find the nature of Collaboration, and important positions of researchers in Collaboration network, we intersect the networks from co-authorship in publications and co-partnership in research projects with an attempt to find the important researchers, both with regard to Collaboration in paper and projects. Moreover, we show the difference in nature of Collaboration regarding publications and projects.
