  • Effect of isolated and combined training of aerobic and yoga on hemoglobin among school students

    Abstract:

    The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of isolated and combined training of aerobic and yoga on hemoglobin among school students. To achieve this purpose of the study, sixty female students were selected as subjects who were from the INDUS International School, Bangalore. The selected subjects were aged between 15 to 18 years. They were divided into four equal groups of fifteen each, Group I underwent aerobic training, Group II underwent yogic training, Group III underwent combined training and Group IV acted as control that did not participate in any special training apart from their regular curricular activities. The subjects were tested on selected Criterion Variable such as hemoglobin prior to and immediately after the training period. The selected Criterion Variable such as hemoglobin was determined through blood samples analyzed through laboratory tests. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the significant differences if any, between the experimental group and control group on selected Criterion Variable. In all the cases, 0.05 level of confidence was fixed to test the significance, which was considered as an appropriate. The result of the present study has revealed that there was a significant difference among the experimental and control group on hemoglobin.

    Abstract:

    The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of plyometric training on muscular strength among Nagaland university students. To achieve this purpose of the study, thirty men students were selected as subjects who were from the various faculties, Nagaland University, Lumami.  The selected subjects were aged between 19 to 24 years.   They were divided into two equal groups of fifteen each, Group I underwent plyometric training and Group II acted as control that did not participate in any special training apart from their regular sports and games practices.  The subjects were tested on selected Criterion Variables such as muscular strength prior to any immediately after the training period.  The selected Criterion Variable such as muscular strength was determined through using Leg dynomometer.  The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the significant differences if any, between the experimental group and control group on selected Criterion Variable.  The 0.05 level of confidence was fixed to test the significance, which was considered as an appropriate.  The result of the present study has revealed that there was a significant difference among the experimental and control group on muscular strength.

    The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of specific training on abdominal thickness among university hockey players. To achieve this purpose of the study, thirty men hockey players were selected as subjects who were from the various faculties, Nagaland University, Lumami. The selected subjects were aged between 19 to 24 years. They were divided into two equal groups of fifteen each, Group I underwent specific training and Group II acted as control that did not participate in any special training apart from their regular sports and games practices. The selected Criterion Variable such as abdominal thickness was measuring by Harpenden Skinfold Caliper.     The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of aerobic dance training on endurance among university players. To achieve this purpose of the study, thirty university women students were selected as subjects who were representing various teams of Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit to participate in the Inter University Competition. The selected subjects were aged between 18 to 22 years. They were divided into two equal groups of fifteen each, Group I underwent aerobic dance training and Group II acted as control that did not participate in any special training apart from their regular curricular activities. The subjects were tested on selected Criterion Variable such as endurance prior to and immediately after the training period. The selected Criterion Variable such as endurance was determined through 8 minutes run and walk test. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the significant differences if any, between the experimental group and control group on selected Criterion Variable. In all the cases, 0.05 level of confidence was fixed to test the significance, which was considered as an appropriate. The result of the present study has revealed that there was a significant difference among the experimental and control group on endurance.

    The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of resistance training on shooting performance among college basketball players. To achieve this purpose of the study, thirty college students were selected as subjects who were from Trivandrum. The selected subjects were aged between 18 to 22 years. They were divided into two equal groups of fifteen each, Group I underwent resistance training and Group II acted as control that did not participate in any special training apart from their regular curricular activities. The subjects were tested on selected Criterion Variable such as shooting performance prior to and immediately after the training period. The selected Criterion Variable such as shooting performance was determined through malty shooting test. Also strata with a common rule are obtained. Common predictors and Criterion Variable describe population in all strata or classes of individuals. Algorithm considers strata structure in tree-building algorithm and combines in each step maximisation of an information content measure for the Criterion Variable in a new binary partition of the population and selection of decisional nodes, based in quality of prediction for subsets of strata. Each decisional tree node is composed of a set of strata and a rule for individuals in these strata that will jointly explain the Criterion Variable. Symbolic data analysis fits the method. Input of the algorithm is composed of classes of individuals. Algorithm is extended to individuals described by probabilistic symbolic objects.     The purpose of the study was to find out the effect of aerobic training, resistance training and concurrent training on resting heart rate among college boys. To achieve this purpose of the study, sixty college students were selected as subjects who were from the Nagaland University. The selected subjects were aged between 18 to 22 years. They were divided into four equal groups of fifteen each, Group I underwent aerobic training, Group II underwent resistance training, Group III underwent concurrent training and Group IV acted as control that did not participate in any special training apart from their regular curricular activities. The subjects were tested on selected Criterion Variable such as mean arterial blood pressure prior to and immediately after the training period. The selected Criterion Variable such as mean arterial blood pressure was determined through using Sphygmomanometer. The analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used to find out the significant differences if any, between the experimental group and control group on selected Criterion Variable. In all the cases, 0.05 level of confidence was fixed to test the significance, which was considered as an appropriate. The result of the present study has revealed that there was a significant difference among the experimental and control group on mean arterial blood pressure.

  • Evaluation of boxers conative status contribution to success of specific motor structures.

    Abstract:

    On the sample of 92 boxers of various weight categories, from the Croatian boxing clubs, the system of 14 Variables was implemented, out of which 8 were Variables of specific motor abilities (the Criterion Variables) and 6 were conative Variables (the predictor Variables), with the goal to determine the influence of the system of conative characteristics on individual Criterion Variables of specific motor Variables in top-level boxers. By means of factor analysis (the direct oblimin) two latent Variables were isolated. The first is interpreted as the integrated latent Variable of specific motor abilities, and the second as the general latent Variable of conative characteristics. Between the isolated latent Variables there is a significant correlation of 0.57. Regression analyses revealed that the predictor system of conative Variables established statistically significant relations with and had the statistically significant influence on all individual Criterion Variables of specific motor abilities at the level of .00 (p). Out of the individual conative Variables only the Variable the regulator of organs’ functions had statistically significant influence on all Criterion Variables at the level of .00 (p). Therefore, it could be concluded, on the basis of the obtained results, that the subjects with better scores in every Criterion Variable also scored better in the regulation of organs’ functions, which was formed by the association of subcortical centres for the regulation of organs’ functions, predominately located in the region of hypothalamus, and to them superior cortical systems, responsible for the regulation and control. In the Criterion Variable SSER100, in addition to the Variable χ regulator, only the Variable the regulator of attack responses (SIGMA) had the statistically significant contribution at the level of .03 (p). It is considered that the regulator of attack responses (σ) is probably located in the limbic system, and similarly as the regulator of defence responses, it modulates tonic excitation, but based on the programme of the destructive reaction.
