“Send it to ZOOM!”: American Children’s Television and Intergenerational Cultural Creation in the 1970s
Literary Cultures and Twentieth-Century Childhoods, 2020Co-Authors: Leslie ParisAbstract:The premise of ZOOM (1972–1978), one of the most popular American children’s television shows of the 1970s, was that it served as a kind of clearinghouse for content provided by children themselves. This chapter considers ZOOM’s enlistment of its child performers and its young viewers as creative partners in the Creation and dissemination of children’s culture. While ZOOM’s success testified to its ability to connect deeply with a core audience of children who felt invested in its representation of their own agency, it was also the case that adults choreographed, organized, and edited the show’s material as silent but powerful partners. Ultimately, ZOOM advanced a new model of intergenerational Cultural production, in which children were encouraged to advocate for themselves as young citizens.

Publishing without editors or authors? Competing logics, circulation, and Cultural Creation in a publishing firm
Critical Perspectives on Accounting, 2016Co-Authors: Marie-astrid Le Theule, Ioana LupuAbstract:Abstract Two contradictory logics have historically been present in the publishing field ( Thornton, 2002 ): editorial logic and market logic. Based on a qualitative case study within the French publishing sector, our study demonstrates accounting’s colonization of the editorial process. Specifically, we explore the effects of the income statement on shaping the publication of a collection of children’s books. Our study shows that previous traditional editorial logic is marginalized and that the controller has become the key actor in giving an account of the creative process. Moreover, we also note the performative effects of the income statement on actors and their understanding of the creative process. Our case study explains how the widespread use of accounting technologies in this context is sustained by a market logic that it in turn sustains and strengthens.

The Cultural Creation of the feminine gender: An example from 19th-century military households at Fort Independence, Boston
Historical Archaeology, 1993Co-Authors: Joyce M. ClementsAbstract:While military site analyses are prominent in archaeological literature, the roles of women at military garrisons are rarely considered (Gramly 1978; Faulkner 1986; Fisher 1987; Miville-Deschennes 1987; Seidel 1990; Staski 1990). Archaeological excavation from Fort Independence, Boston, however, reveals that women socialized and lived at the garrison during the 19th century (Stokinger and Moran 1978; Clements 1989). The present discussion attempts to review and reinterpret the documentary and archaeological material from Fort Independence to remediate the lack of information pertaining to women at military sites. Beyond making women visible this discussion will consider gender attributes, gendered activities, gendered structures and spaces, and the differential use of material culture associated with gender. In this way the normative nature of gender roles within the military environment is exposed, and support is given to anthropological interpretations of the Cultural Creation of the feminine gender.

a study on the mechanism of the formation and evolution of the Cultural Creation industrial clusters in chinese agriCultural areas a case of painting industrial cluster in wanggongzhuang village of minquan county
Progress in geography, 2010Co-Authors: L I XuexinAbstract:Based on the examination of the developming tendency of the Cultural Creation industrial clustering in urban areas, this paper considers that despite there are many favorable conditions for the development of the Cultural Creation industrial clusters(CCIC) in urban areas, such as the concentration of the market and the large number of universities, research institutions and support industries, the CCIC can also form and develop in agriCultural areas.Through an analysis of the formation and development of the CCIC in Wanggongzhuang Village of Minquan County,Henan Province, the paper finds that the dominant factor is the social capital mainly consisted of relations of blood, kinsfolk, geographical locations and industries. There are accidental factors playing a key role in the formation and evolution of CCIC in Chinese agriCultural areas, but these "accidental" opportunities only favor some "economic elites" with the entrepreneurial spirit in rural areas. The imitation plays an important role in the early formation of CCIC in rural areas, and imitation can easily lead to the development of clusters. For the CCIC driven by the markets in rural areas, government's timely intervention, guidance and support are necessary.By contrasting with the location factors in urban areas, the paper also finds that the dominant factors are different between the rural and urban CCIC,which are mainly social capital and Cultural resources in agriCultural areas. The concepts such as "local buzz, noise, creative milieu, and creative field" in the Western publications are equal to the social relations in the Chinese agriCultural areas, but the perspective of the Western concepts is based on the dissemination of knowledge and technological innovation.Whether the family workshop in the CCIC in agriCultural areas is backward or not,it should enter the industrial park.Such conclusion has not been confirmed.Tthe family workshop in the Chinese agriCultural areas is better than "the studio" in the Western cities.
