  • Diversity of Drosophilidae parasitoids in organic raspberry crops in Tafí del Valle (Tucumán), Argentina
    2020
Co-Authors: Escobar Lorena, Gallardo, Fabiana Edith, Funes, Claudia F., Ovruski, Sergio M., Kirschbaum, Daniel S.
    Abstract:

The diversity of Drosophilidae and associated parasitoids were studied in organic raspberry crops in Tafí del Valle (Tucumán, Argentina). Fruits were harvested periodically near maturity, placed in plastic trays covered with voile cloth and held 15-20 days at H»25°C and 60- 70% RH. Additionally, insect samples were collected with an entomological aspirator, from berries attached to plants. Drosophila spp. females and males emerged from the puparia obtained, as well as parasitoids of the genera Ganaspis and Dieucoila (Hymenoptera, Cynipoidea, Figitidae, Ganaspini), which were also found in the samples collected with the aspirator. Ganaspis is cited as a parasitoid of the genus Drosophila but Dieucoila lacks host registration. Specieslevel identifications are in progress.

  • A new genus and species of Eucoilinae (Hymenoptera, Cynipoidea, Figitidae) parasitoid of Euxesta eluta Loew (Diptera, Otitidae) attacked Bt sweet corn in Argentina
    2019
Co-Authors: Gallardo, Fabiana Edith, Reche, Vanina Anadina, Bertolaccini Isabel, Zarate Brenda, Curis Cecilia
    Abstract:

Euxestophaga Gallardo, a new genus of Eucoilinae (Hymenoptera, Cynipoidea, Figitidae) and Euxestophaga argentinensis Gallardo, sp. n. from Argentina, are described and illustrated. This new genus belongs to the Ganaspini and morphologically resembles Epicoela Borgmeier and Striatovertex Schick, Forshage and Nordlander. A key to differentiate these genera is given. Specimens were reared from pupae of Euxesta eluta Loew (Diptera: Otitidae), attacked Bt sweet corn in Santa Fe province and other in Tucumán province (Argentina).El material suplementario de este artículo puede accederse haciendo clic en "Documentos relacionados".Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Muse

Co-Authors: Norma B. Díaz, Fabiana Edith Gallardo, Emilia Paulina Hernandez, Vanina Anadina Reche
    Abstract:

N ABSTRACT. In this paper we apply biodiversity indicators for the diagnosis of the Cynipoidea collection of Museo de La Plata, Argentina, in order to set objectives and future policies regarding this collection. The indicators used, taxonomic identification, taxonomic and geographic representativeness and the percentage of biologic associations, showed the following results: 75% of specimens identified to species level; taxonomic representativeness of taxa present in the Neotropical region, as follows: families 100%, subfamilies 100%, genera 58% and species 15%; the best represented group quantitatively as well as qualitatively is Figitidae Eucoilinae. Geographic representativeness is 78% for Argentina and 33% for the Neotropics. Only 32% of the hosts of the preserved specimens are known.

    Abstract:

In this paper we apply biodiversity indicators for the diagnosis of the Cynipoidea collection of Museo de La Plata, Argentina, in order to set objectives and future policies regarding this collection.
