  • Ensuring the Blind Signature for the Electoral System in a Distributed Environment
2020 IEEE International Conference on Power Intelligent Computing and Systems (ICPICS), 2020
Co-Authors: Segundo Moisés Toapanta Toapanta, Darío Fernando Huilcapi Subia, Milton Andrés Cepeda Aveiga, Luis Enrique Mafla Gallegos
    Abstract:

We analyze several alternatives of blind digital signatures, for an electronic electoral system in a distributed architecture environment, in view of the persistence of blind signature problems in electoral processes. The objective is to recognize and propose an alternative of a blind signature scheme to improve privacy, confidentiality for the voter and in this way reduce any type of vulnerability with respect to the information of the same. The Deductive Method is used to summarize the information of the scientific articles studied. It results in a blind signature prototype based on algorithms to mitigate the vulnerabilities of voter information. It is concluded that, in order to guarantee privacy and confidentiality, several blind signature schemes must be implemented together to obtain the benefits of each of them, thus reducing the risks to which the voter's information is exposed in this process.

  • impact on the information security management due to the use of social networks in a public organization in ecuador
    2020
Co-Authors: Segundo Moisés Toapanta Toapanta, Felix Gustavo Mendoza Quimi, Leslie Melanie Romero Lambogglia, Luis Enrique Mafla Gallegos
    Abstract:

It analyzed the management for the dissemination of government information in social networks and security management models applied to communicate with society. The problem is the lack of a model that integrates a security scheme to expose information from a government organization on social networks. The objective is to define a generic algorithm prototype for security policies application. It used the Deductive Method and exploratory research to analyze the information of the reference articles. It turned out the following: Guidelines for defining information security policies, General scheme of information security policies, Mathematical description to measure impact, and Generic algorithm prototype for the security policies application using flowchart techniques. It was concluded that for the exposure and socialization of information from a government organization to society, it is recommended to have alternatives that allow mitigating the risks, threats, and vulnerabilities of information such as integrated security models, security policies, responsible, technologies, and adequate cryptographic algorithms to improve the confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity of the information based on its mission, vision, strategic objectives of each government organization, and legal provisions such as the LOTAIP 2017 among others.

  • Impact on Administrative Processes by Cyberattacks in a Public Organization of Ecuador
2019 Third World Conference on Smart Trends in Systems Security and Sustainablity (WorldS4), 2019

    Abstract:

The problems of information security regarding the impact on administrative processes due to cyber-attacks in public and private organizations in Ecuador and globally persist despite having first-class technological infrastructure. It defines a group of cybernetic vulnerabilities that are evident in public organizations. The objective is to identify the impact of cyber-attacks in various administrative processes in public organizations in Ecuador. The Deductive Method was used to analyze the information of the different articles related to the topic and the exploratory research. It resulted the definition strategies to prevent the infiltration of external users to obtain the information for their benefit; these strategies can be used as alternatives to lower the cyber-attack. It was concluded that in the public organizations of Ecuador there are problems because of cyber-attacks since they have an adequate technological infrastructure for information security, they do not have defined a strategic approach to protect cyber-attacks.

  • Algorithms for Efficient Biometric Systems to Mitigate the Integrity of a Distributed Database
2018 International Conference on Computer Information and Telecommunication Systems (CITS), 2018
Co-Authors: Segundo Moisés Toapanta Toapanta, Luis Enrique Mafla Gallegos, Alvaro Andrés Coca Cruz, José Antonio Orizaga Trejo
    Abstract:

The problems of information security are persistent in the business environment and public and private institutions for this reason, in this research biometric algorithms are considered as an alternative to mitigate the security of information; through biometric authentication used for the identification and verification of users based on the physical characteristics of the individual such as fingerprint, face, iris and voice. The objective is to perform the analysis of efficient biometric algorithms to mitigate the integrity of a distributed database. The Deductive Method was used to analyze the information of the articles related to this investigation. It resulted from this research an alternative of modified algorithm that can be applied in different types of authentication by biometrics, but not in all functions efficiently. It was concluded that, depending on the type of authentication that will be implemented; fingerprint, facial recognition, iris, voice, an efficient algorithm of the analyzed was used; with the objective of mitigating the integrity of the information in a distributed database without relying on the technological infrastructure.

    Social Science Research Network, 2015
    Co-Authors: Eliana Cristina Rosa
    Abstract:

English Abstract: To understand the universe of research is essential to grasp the relationship between epistemological positions and the scientific Methodology, supported by observations with a cyclical flow in the construction of knowledge. The research aimed to understand the scientific knowledge on the Methodology and the hypothetical Deductive Method as a Methodology tool in the construction of hypotheses in research and its premises. Acquiring this way new knowledge for further research and dissemination of Methodological knowledge. As a result, we have the speech of various thinkers with the unanimous view of the Method as a key over the issues to be investigated, because knowledge is presented not ready and finished, playing this way an important role in the lives of men, science and knowledge in the educational universe.

  • An Energy Optimization Framework for Sustainability Analysis: Inclusion of Behavioral Parameters as a Virtual Technology in Energy Optimization Models
    Mechanism Design for Sustainability, 2013
Co-Authors: Roman Kanala, Nathalie Turin, Emmanuel Fragnière
    Abstract:

This chapter introduces an innovative approach that combines the Deductive Method used to construct normative energy-economy models and the inductive Method of social sciences. Consumer behavior is described via technological attributes and used in virtual process technologies in an energy optimization framework. The main finding is that it is possible to evaluate consumer information and behavior together with technological progress and integrate them on the same modeling platform. The approach eliminates the systematic error on the demand side where the efficiency of demand-side management measures is over optimistic, which may lead to inaccurate decisions and poor policies. Thus, this Method paves the way to a new stream in energy modeling.
