2008 Asia Optical Fiber Communication & Optoelectronic Exposition & Conference, 2008Co-Authors: Daru Chen, Weisheng Liu, Yizhen Wei, Hongyan Fu, Sailing HeAbstract:A single-longitudinal-mode erbium-Doped Fiber Laser based on a Fiber-Bragg-grating pair formed by two standard Fiber Bragg gratings is proposed. Stable multi-wavelength erbium-Doped Fiber Laser by using dispersion-shifted Fiber
2007 Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics - Pacific Rim, 2007Co-Authors: Daru ChenAbstract:A multi-wavelength erbium-Doped Fiber Laser with a simple line-structure is achieved by employing a Sagnac interferometer. It is demonstrated to be quite stable at room temperature due to the four-wave mixing effect in the dispersion-shifted Fiber inserted in the Laser cavity.

Passively Q-Switched Thulium-Doped Fiber Laser Using Alcohol
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2018Co-Authors: Baldemar Ibarra-escamilla, Manuel Durán-sánchez, Berenice Posada-ramírez, Ricardo I. Álvarez-tamayo, Jared Alaniz-baylón, Miguel Bello-jiménez, Patricia Prieto-cortés, Evgeny A. KuzinAbstract:A passively Q-switched thulium-Doped Fiber Laser using isopropyl alcohol as a saturable absorber is experimentally demonstrated. The absorber was made of two FC/PC connectors matched into a cannula with the gap between them filled by isopropyl alcohol. The alcohol-based saturable absorber incorporated into a ring cavity thulium-Doped Fiber Laser leads to passive Q-switching Laser operation at the wavelength of $1.88~\mu \text{m}$ . With the maximum pump power of 1.42 W, passive Q-switched pulses with a minimum duration of $1.46~\mu \text{s}$ , maximum repetition rate of 66.7 kHz, and pulse energy of $0.93~\mu \text{J}$ were obtained.

wavelength spacing tunable multiwavelength erbium Doped Fiber Laser based on four wave mixing of dispersion shifted Fiber
Optics Letters, 2006Co-Authors: Thi Van Anh TranAbstract:We experimentally demonstrate a wavelength-spacing tunable multiwavelength erbium-Doped Fiber Laser based on degenerate four-wave mixing in a dispersion-shifted Fiber incorporating multiple-Fiber Bragg gratings. We have achieved stable operation of the multiwavelength erbium-Doped Fiber Laser, which has 0.8 nm spacing ten-channel lasing wavelengths and a high extinction ratio of more than ∼45 dB, at room temperature. The output power of the multiwavelength erbium-Doped Fiber Laser is stable, so the peak fluctuation is less than ∼0.2 dB. By changing the properties such as loss and polarization state of multiple Fiber Bragg grating cavities, we can exercise flexible control of the wavelength spacing of the multiwavelength output. We can also obtain switchable multiwavelength lasing operation by elimination of the effects of alternate single-Fiber Bragg gratings.

1.0–1.7-$\mu$ m Wavelength-Tunable Ultrashort-Pulse Generation Using Femtosecond Yb-Doped Fiber Laser and Photonic Crystal Fiber
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2006Co-Authors: Jun Takayanagi, Toshiharu Sugiura, Makoto Yoshida, Norihiko NishizawaAbstract:A widely wavelength-tunable ultrashort-pulse Fiber-Laser source has been demonstrated using a high-power mode-locked ytterbium (Yb)-Doped Fiber Laser and a highly nonlinear photonic crystal Fiber (PCF). The Yb-Doped Fiber Laser produces 66-fs ultrashort pulse at the wavelength of 1.05 mum. The pulse energy and the peak-power are 2 nJ and 20 kW, respectively. By injecting this pulse into the highly nonlinear PCF, soliton and anti-Stokes pulses are generated in the wavelength regions of 1.05-1.69 and 0.6-0.7 mum, respectively. The generated soliton pulse is 100-150-fs transform-limited sech2-shaped pulse

stable nanosecond pulse generation from a graphene based passively q switched yb Doped Fiber Laser
Optics Letters, 2011Co-Authors: Sida Wu, Quanhong Yang, Pu WangAbstract:We demonstrate stable 70 ns pulse generation from a Yb-Doped Fiber Laser passively Q-switched by a graphene-based saturable absorber mirror in a short linear cavity. The maximum output power was 12 mW and the highest single pulse energy was 46 nJ. The repetition rate of the Fiber Laser can be widely tuned from 140 to 257 kHz along with the increase of the pump power. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report for passively Q-switched sub-100-ns pulse operation of a graphene-based saturable absorber in a Yb-Doped Fiber Laser.
