Growth Comparison between First Generation and Second Generation Forest of Eucalyptus Grandis(DH32-29) and Eucalyptus urophylla(U6)
Forest Inventory and Planning, 2011Co-Authors: Huang CongAbstract:By comparing and analyzing the volume increment per unit area per year of the Eucalyptus(DH32-29 and U6) plantations between theirs first and second generation forest at Guangxi Qinzhou city Qinbei District Ping Ji lac forest farm.The results show that: annual forest growth and accumulation of second-generation Eucalyptus Grandis(U6) trees per unit area was significantly lower than the first generation,in the same site conditions,impact on soil degradation was greater as well;while average annual forest stock volume of second-generation Eucalyptus Grandis(DH32-29) forest per unit area was essentially flat with the first generation.It is illustrated that Eucalyptus Grandis plantation is more suitable for further promotion in the test area.

The Establishment of Site Class Table for Pulpwood Plantation of Eucalyptus Grandis Plantation in Sichuan

The plantations distribute in Luzhou, Yibing, Fushun, Hongya, Meishan, Danling, Shawan, Jiajiang, Muchuan cities or counties etc. in Sichuan Province. After comparison and analysis of the model, H=020871+292447A-011921A2, was selected as the option function for the guide cure of site class table of Eucalyptus Grandis. At last, the site class table of the species was established with the help of bisect method. The accuracy fits for the function was tested and the result was satisfactory.

The Establishment of Volume Table with Two Factors for Pulpwood Plantation of Eucalyptus Grandis in Sichuan

With three deferent models, the statistics analysis (SAS program) was conducted and the best fit function v=00000783738d1.71182751h0.99798144 was selected for establishment of volume table with two factors d (diameter) and h (height) for pulpwood plantation of Eucalyptus Grandis. The average error, standard error and rootmeansquare error are -0052%, ±34%, ±085%.

The Site Index Table Compilation for Pulpwood Plantation of Eucalyptus Grandis in Sichuan

The plantations are of different ages and grow in different site conditions. By comparison, the equation: H=2821970 (1-e-0.15600A)0.99310 was selected as the optional model of guide curve of site index for Eucalyptus Grandis. The site index table of Eucalyptus Grandis was complied with adjusting standard deviation. The model was tested and its accuracy could met the requirement.

Study on Soil Fractal Features and Anti-erodibility of Soil Water-stable Aggregates Under Different Eucalyptus Grandis Plantations Styles
2014Co-Authors: Xie Xian-jiaAbstract:In order to explore the impacts of eco-environment changes on the soil structure and anti-erodibility in the conversion of farmlands to Eucalyptus Grandis plantations, soil samples of 4.5-year Eucalyptus Grandis plantations such as pure Eucalyptus Grandis, Eucalyptus Grandis+grain crops, Eucalyptus Grandis+fruits were chosen as researching materials and farmlands as comparison, the fractal characteristics of soil water-stable aggregates and the relationship among soil nutrient, soil stability and anti-erodibility were carried out based on the field investigation and lab analysis. The results showed that the different patterns had different fractal characteristics, the fractal dimension was between 2.142 to 2.296. In the soil depth of 0-15 cm, the order of fractal dimension was farmland Eucalyptus Grandis+fruits Eucalyptus Grandis+grain crops pure Eucalyptus Grandis. There was a significant difference between the farmland and pure Eucalyptus Grandis, instead of the other 3 types. In the soil depth of 15-30 cm, the order of fractal dimension was farmland pure Eucalyptus Grandis Eucalyptus Grandis+grain crops Eucalyptus Grandis+fruits, and there was no significant difference among 4 types. The fractal dimension had a significant negative linear correlation with organic matter, big soil water-stable aggregate, and a negative linear correlation with mean weight diameter of water stable aggregate and water stable index. On the contrary, it had a significant positive linear correlation with soil bulk density and micro-aggregate. Furthermore, the smaller the fractal dimension was, the higher the content of organic matter and the big soil water-stable aggregate, the bigger the mean weight diameter of water stable aggregate and the water stable index, the lower the soil bulk density and the micro-aggregate, and the stronger the anti-erodibility of soil water-stable aggregate. In the other word, the fractal dimension can be used as an important parameter for characterizing the soil structures and properties, also can be used as an indicator of soil anti-erodibility of the different Eucalyptus Grandis plantations.

Impact of Different Eucalyptus Grandis Plantations on Water Stable Aggregate and Aggregate-associated Organic Carbon in Soil
Journal of Soil and Water Conservation, 2013Co-Authors: Xie Xian-jiaAbstract:By the use of mean weight diameter(MWD)of water stable aggregate,choosing soil of 4.5-year Eucalyptus Grandis plantations such as pure Eucalyptus Grandis,Eucalyptus Grandis+grain crops,Eucalyptus Grandis+fruits as researching materials,and farmlands as comparison,the distribution of water stable aggregate and aggregate-associated organic carbon in soil under different Eucalyptus Grandis plantations modes were discussed.The results showed that the influence of different modes to aggregate mainly focused on formation of larger aggregates.The content of0.25mm of water stable aggregates of Eucalyptus Grandis plantations was larger than that of farmlands.It was better for Eucalyptus Grandis plantations to form large aggregates than farmlands.The order of soil structure stability under 4kinds of mode was pure Eucalyptus Grandis farmlandEucalyptus Grandis+fruitsEucalyptus Grandis+grain crops.With the increase of soil thickness,MWD became larger except for farmlands.The content of soil organic carbon of soil water stable aggregates became generally higher with the decrease of particle size,the most content of particle sizes was 0.25~0.5mm and 0.25mm.The organic carbon content of Eucalyptus Grandis plantations was significantly higher than that of farmlands,the order was pure Eucalyptus Grandis Eucalyptus Grandis+grain cropsEucalyptus Grandis+fruitsfarmland.The contribution rate of soil aggregate organic carbon content to soils was(1~2mm aggregate)(2~5mm aggregate)(5mm aggregate)(0.5~1mm aggregate)(0.25mm aggregate)(0.25~0.5mm aggregate).It was better for Eucalyptus Grandis plantations to reserve the organic carbon than farmlands.

Soil Microbial Biodiversity across a Range of Eucalyptus Grandis Plantation Ages
Journal of Sichuan Agricultural University, 2011Co-Authors: Zhang JianAbstract:In order to clearly understand the effects of eucalypt(Eucalyptus Grandis) on soil ecological processes,soil microbial counts and microbial biomass were investigated in the Eucalyptus Grandis plantations with a range of ages from 1 to 10 years.Bacteria quantitatively dominated the soil microbe community in eucalypt plantations regardless of plantation ages,followed by actinomycete and fungi.Microbial counts decreased with soil depths except for the converse distribution in certain stands.The microbial counts decreased in eucalypt plantations from 1 to 4 years,and then increased with the increase of plantation age.Shannon-wiener index and Pielou index increased in the first 3 or 4 years and then decrease with the increase of plantation age,but Simpson index showed an opposite trend.

Primary Study on the Dominant of Microorganisms in Eucalyptus Grandis Plantation
Journal of Sichuan Agricultural University, 2005Co-Authors: Zhang JianAbstract:To investigate the ecological distribution regulations of soil microbes group in Eucalyptus Grandis plantation, the amount and group distribution of soil microbes including bacteria, fungi and actinomycetes were studied in 2004 in Eucalyptus Grandis plantation of Hongya county. With the traditional culturing approaches, the dominant of microorganisms was researched. The results show that the dominant population of bacterial physiological groups is the genus of Aerobic nitrogen fixing bacteria, Rhizobia, Ammonifying bacteria, Organic phosphorus-decomposing bacteria in Eucalyptus Grandis plantation, that of actinomycetes was Genus streptomyces (over 90%) and the dominant fungal genera are Penicillium and Aspergillus. The Eucalyptus Grandis plantation as a kind of tree for the Cropland Conversion to Forest and Grassland (CCFG) has a good ecological and economic benefit.

Visual strength grading of Argentinean Eucalyptus Grandis

BlaßAbstract:The present paper reports the results of an investigation regarding the design of a method for visually grading sawn timber of Argentinean Eucalyptus Grandis . An empirical research project with four samples of beams and one sample of boards subjected to bending, one sample of boards subjected to tension and one sample of specimens subjected to compression, was carried out. The results obtained with specimens in structural sizes show the influence of the more important strength and stiffness reducing growth characteristics and allow to analyse different strength, stiffness and density profiles in comparison with the international strength class system established in the European standard EN 338. The research also reveals particularities for this timber species as the high ratio of modulus of elasticity and strength to density, in comparison with other deciduous species, among others. Dieser Beitrag fasst die Ergebnisse einer Studie zusammen, in der die Möglichkeiten einer visuellen Festigkeitssortierung von Eucalyptus Grandis aus Argentinien untersucht wurden. Die Untersuchung umfasste vier Teilstichproben mit Kanthölzern und eine Teilstichprobe mit Brettern in Biegeversuchen und jeweils eine Teilstichprobe mit Zug- bzw. Druckprüfkörpern. Die Ergebnisse der Versuche mit Prüfkörpern in Bauholzabmessungen zeigen den Einfluss der wichtigsten visuellen Sortierparameter und erlauben die Einteilung von Bauholz aus Eucalyptus Grandis in unterschiedliche Festigkeitsklassen nach EN 338. Die vorliegende Studie zeigt darüber hinaus besondere Eigenschaften dieser Laubholzart wie das hohe Verhältnis von Elastizitätsmodul und Festigkeit zur Rohdichte.

Machine strength grading of Argentinean Eucalyptus Grandis

BlaßAbstract:The present paper reports the results of an investigation regarding the possibility of machine strength grading sawn timber of Argentinean Eucalyptus Grandis . In order to assess the usefulness of each parameter for predicting the mechanical properties of this timber species, and to propose strength, stiffness and density profiles, an empirical research project with four samples of beams and one sample of boards subjected to bending, and another sample of boards subjected to tension parallel to the grain, was carried out. The results obtained with specimens in structural sizes reveal the more important single and combined parameters for machine strength grading this timber species, and allow to analyse strength, stiffness and density profiles in comparison with the international strength class system established in the European standard EN 338. In diesem Beitrag wird über die Ergebnisse einer Untersuchung im Hinblick auf die Möglichkeiten für eine maschinelle Festigkeitssortierung von Eucalyptus Grandis aus Argentinien berichtet. Zur Bewertung der Qualität der verschiedenen Parameter zur Vorhersage der mechanischen Eigenschaften dieser Holzart und zur Entwicklung von Festigkeitsprofilen wurde eine empirische Studie durchgeführt. Die experimentellen Untersuchungen umfassten vier Teilstichproben für Biegeversuche mit Kanthölzern und jeweils eine Teilstichprobe für Biege- und Zugversuche mit Brettern. Aus den Ergebnissen der Versuche mit Prüfkörpern in Bauteilabmessung lassen sich die wichtigsten maschinellen Sortierparameter für diese Holzart erkennen. Darüber hinaus wird eine Einteilung in Festigkeitsklassen nach der Europäischen Norm EN 338 ermöglicht.
