    Abstract:

    A new species of Lathyrus is described. This species occurs in rocky fields, in a restricted protected area from Southern Brazil. Lathyrus ibicuiensis resembles L. linearifolius in having simple tendrils, but differs in ovate to lanceolate stipules, by ramified branches, and by elliptic, oblong to rarely obovate leaflets, as well as in its geographic distribution. A description and illustration are provided together with a key for identification of similar species occurring in Southern Brazil.

    Abstract:

    With the aim of expanding knowledge about the flora of the Upper Parana River Floodplain, especially of the family Leguminosae, was realized a survey of genus Crotalaria L. (Leguminosae-Faboideae). The study area included the upper stretch of this floodplain, located approximately 22o38’ a 22o57’ S e 53o05’ a 53o36’ W, in the states of Parana and Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. The material of the study came from samples taken between August 2009 and April 2012, and from the collection of HUEM herbarium. Six species have been recognized, including three natives: Crotalaria incana L., C. maypurensis Kunth and C. micans Link, one endemic: C. vespertilio Benth., and two subspontaneous in Brazil: C. lanceolata E. Mey. and C. pallida Aiton. An identification key for these species as well their morphological descriptions and illustrations were provided.

    Abstract:

    Floristic inventories in the Upper Parana River floodplain shows the family Leguminosae, Faboideae in particular, with one of the highest richness floristic. This study presents a survey of the genus Aeschynomene L., to this floodplain in the states of Mato Grosso do Sul and Parana (22°38’–22°57’ S and 53°05’–53°36’ W), in the Mata Atlântica Biom. The plant material was obtained by collection and examination of the Herbarium of the Universidade Estadual de Maringa (HUEM). They were recognized eight species: Aeschynomene americana L., A. brasiliana DC., A. denticulata Rudd, A. falcata (Poir.) DC., A. fluminensis Vell., A. histrix Poir, A. montevidensis Vogel and A. sensitiva Sw., and distributed in the sections Aeschynomene and Ochopodium.

    Abstract:

    This paper consists of asurvey of the Fabaceae subfamily Faboideae in the Parque Estadual do Guartela, Tibagi, Parana State, Brazil. Intensive collections were made from October 2006 to October 2007. Thirty-two species and 19 genera of Faboideae were detected. The most diverse genera were Stylosanthes Sw. (five species), Eriosema (DC.) Desv., Crotalaria L. and Desmodium Desv. (three species), Centrosema (DC.) Benth., Machaerium Pers. and Zornia J.F. Gmel. (two species). Aeschynomene L., Camptosema Hook. & Arn., Clitoria L., Collaea DC., Dalbergia L. f., Erythrina L., Galactia P. Br., Indigofera L., Leptolobium Vogel, Ormosia Jacks., Periandra Mart. ex Benth. and Rhynchosia Lour. were each represented by a single species. Descriptions, identification keys, notes and illustrations for the taxa found in the area are provided.

    Abstract:

    Phytogeographic aspects of Crotalaria L. (Leguminosae) in southern Brazil are discussed. The genus presents pantropical distribution, with nine native species and seven introduced ones in southern Brazil. The species of Crotalaria occur on the Paranaense, Atlântica and Pampeana biogeographic provinces. The geographic distribution of the species along the three states in southern Brazil shows a decreasing latitudinal gradient of floristic diversity from Parana to Rio Grande do Sul. The region of Parana State, between the 49o-50o W and 24o 26o S, presents the greatest diversity of species.

    Poecilanthe parviflora is a tree with a good potential for revegetation and ornamental purposes. The objectives of this research were to evaluate biometrical characteristics of the seed, to describe and illustrate morphological aspects of the seeds and seedlings, and to determine the best conditions for the tetrazolium test. For biometric evaluations 100 seeds were used to determine their width, length, thickness and weight. For the description of the germination process and seedlings morphology four replicates of six seeds were sowed in plastic boxes, containing sand. For the tetrazolium test, the seeds were submitted to a pre-imbibition period of 42 hours at 25 oC and then had their tegument removed before immersing two replicates of 10 seeds each in the tetrazolium solution. The tetrazolium solution concentrations were of 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1%. At a temperature of 35 oC, the seeds remained in the tetrazolium solution for 1, 2, and 3 hours. The efficiency of the tetrazolium test was evaluated comparing the results with those of the germination test. Seed length was of 15.8 mm, width of 14.13 mm, and thickness of 3.19 mm. It was verified an average number of 2,399 seeds/kg. The seed is an exalbuminous and its germination of the hypogeal type. The best tetrazolium results were found when the seeds were immersed in a 0.1% tetrazolium solution for 2 hours.

    Poecilanthe parviflora is a tree with a good potential for revegetation and ornamental purposes. The objective of this research was to determine the best temperatures for the germination test. The work took place during 2005 and was conducted at the UNESP, Campus de Jaboticabal, Jaboticabal, Sao Paulo state, Brazil. Two experiments were conducted, simultaneously. The first one used the lot termed JABOTICABAL that was submitted to the germination test under different constant temperatures of 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 oC and alternate temperatures of 20-30, 25-35, and 20-35 oC. The second one used the lots termed USM, SEMEX and JABOTICABAL that were submitted to the constant temperatures of 25 oC and alternate temperatures of 20-30 oC, at a photoperiod of 12 hours.     Abstract:

    Poecilanthe parviflora (coracao-de-negro) e uma planta arborea com potencial para uso em areas degradadas e no paisagismo. Este trabalho teve por objetivo avaliar a qualidade fisiologica de lotes de sementes P. parviflora pelos testes de condutividade eletrica e envelhecimento acelerado. Sete lotes de sementes foram submetidos ao teste de condutividade eletrica por 24, 48, 72, 96 e 120 horas de embebicao, a 25o C, e de envelhecimento acelerado a 42o C, por 72 horas. Foram avaliados a porcentagem e o indice de velocidade de germinacao. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados, e as medias de tratamentos comparadas pelo teste Scott-Knott a 5% de probabilidade. O teste de condutividade eletrica apresentou a mesma sensibilidade que o de germinacao para discriminacao dos lotes de sementes quando conduzido por 96 e 120 horas de embebicao. O teste de envelhecimento acelerado e eficiente na discrimina- cao de lotes de diferentes niveis de qualidade e possibilita a separacao de lotes de sementes de coracao-de-negro de forma mais criteriosa que o teste de germinacao.

    Abstrak Suku Fabaceae adalah tetumbuhan yang memiliki buah bertipe polong. Suku tersebut selain berperawakan pohon juga berupa terna. Anggota suku Fabaceae (polong) banyak ditemukan di sekitar lingkungan manusia termasuk di Kampus Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. Informasi mengenai keanekaragaman tumbuhan polong yang berupa terna di Kampus UIN Syarif Hidayatullah belum tersedia. Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan metode jelajah di kampus I dan II serta studi pustaka. Sebanyak 3 jenis tumbuhan polong berperawakan terna telah didapatkan di lingkungan kampus, yaitu Arachis pintoi Krapov. & W. C. Greg., Mimosa diplotricha C. Wright ex Sauvalle, dan M. pudica L. Jenis-jenis tersebut termasuk ke dalam 2 anak suku (Faboideae, Mimosoideae) dan 2 puak (Aeschynomeneae, Mimoseae). Jenis-jenis tersebut tumbuh di lokasi yang berbeda-beda. Tumbuhan polong yang hanya ditemukan di Fakultas Kedokteran dan Ilmu Keshatan (FKIK) adalah A. pintoi. Mimosa diplotricha ditemukan tumbuh di Pusat Laboratorium Terpadu Fakultas Sains dan Teknologi, Perpustakaan Utama, FKIK, Fakultas Sosial dan Ilmu Politik (FISIP), Wisma Syahida, Pusat Bahasa, dan Sekolah Pascasarjana, sedangkan M. pudica ditemukan Perpustakaan Utama, FISIP, dan Wisma Syahida. Abstract Fabaceae is a plant with a pod-type fruit. A Habit of this family is not only trees but also herb. Fabaceae (legumes) is often found on the human environment around campus included in the State Islamic University (UIN) Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. The Information about the legume herbs diversity on the UIN Syarif Hidayatullah yet available. The study was conducted using survey and literature methods. There were 3 species legume herbs in the campus, viz. Arachis pintoi Krapov. & W. C. Greg., Mimosa diplotricha C. Wright ex Sauvalle, and M. pudica L. All species are differentiated into 2 subfamilies (Faboideae, Mimosoideae) and 2 tribes (Aeschynomeneae, Mimoseae). These species grow in the different locations. The Legumes only found at the Faculty of Medical and Health Science (FKIK) is A. pintoi. Mimosa diplotricha found growing around Central of Integrated Laboratory of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Main Library, FKIK, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Wisma Syahida, Language Center, and Graduate School, while M. pudica found around Main Library, FISIP, and Syahida Inn.     Abstract:

    Se realizo la revision del genero Crotalaria para Venezuela, con la finalidad de actualizarlo taxonomicamente. La metodologia se baso en la revision de bibliografia, en el estudio y descripciones detalladas de los rasgos morfologicos de las especies, lo que permitio su identificacion con el apoyo de las exsiccata depositadas en los herbarios nacionales, asi como los tipos; ademas, se realizaron salidas de campo para enriquecer las colecciones del Herbario Nacional de Venezuela (VEN) y los herbarios regionales. Se determinaron 17 especies y dos variedades (C. maypurensis var. depauperata y C. maypurensis var. maypurensis) distribuidas en el territorio venezolano en un rango altitudinal de 30-1800 m. C. paulina se consolida como nuevo registro para la flora de Venezuela. Se indican descripciones de las especies, acompanadas de clave, ilustraciones del habito y de las estructuras reproductivas, y se menciona informacion sobre los usos, el habitat y la distribucion.

    Taxonomic synopsis of Erythrina for Venezuela was done. The methodology was based on the review of bibliography, study and detailed descriptions of the morphological traits of the species, which allowed their identification with support of deposited exsiccata in Venezuelan herbaria, as well as type specimens; in addition, field trips were made to en rich the collections of the Venezuelan National Herbarium (VEN) and other national herba ria. In Venezuela 11 species are distributed in an altitude range of 50-2500 m above sea le vel, and of these nine new reports by State were found. Described species are accompanied by key, illustrations of the habit, reproductive structures, and information on uses, habitat and distribution are mentioned.

    The review of Crotalaria genus to Venezuela was made in order to update the taxonomical information. The methodology was based on review of literature, the study and detailed descriptions of morphological features of the species, which allowed its identification with the support of the exsiccata placed on the national herbaria, as well as the types; in addition, field trips were done to enrich the collections of the National Herbarium of Venezuela (VEN) and regional herbaria. Seventeen species and two varieties (C. maypurensis var. depauperata and C. maypurensis var. maypurensis) were identified distributed in the Venezuelan territory in a 30-1800 m altitudinal range. C. paulina is consolidated as new record for the flora of Venezuela. The descriptions of the species are accompanied by key, illustrations of the habit of the reproductive structures, and the uses, habitat, phenology and distribution of the species are mentioned.
