simple Fabrication Method of hierarchical nano pillars using aluminum anodizing processes
Current Applied Physics, 2009Co-Authors: Jong Tae Kwon, Hong Gue ShinAbstract:Abstract A simple Fabrication Method for the antireflective surface was developed. In conventional Methods for antireflective surface, coating Method with low refractive index has usually been used. In this paper, we suggested the Fabrication Method of antireflective surface by the hot embossing process with porous anodized aluminum oxide (AAO). Periodic nano-pore structures were fabricated on a pure aluminum layer. Pore diameter of AAO is about 175 ± 25 nm. In order to replicate antireflective structure, hot embossing process was performed by varying the processing parameters such as temperature, pressure and embossing time. Silicon substrate with periodic nano-pore structures (20 mm × 20 mm) were used as a mold stamp of hot embossing process. Finally, antireflective surface can be successfully replicated on PMMA. Nano-pillar arrays were measured by using FE-SEM, AFM and spectrometer. Antireflective structure by replicating hot embossing process can be applied to various displays and automobile components.

low cost and large scale Fabrication Method for an environmentally friendly superhydrophobic coating on magnesium alloy
Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2012Co-Authors: Zhongwei Wang, Zuxin She, Funan Chen, Qing Li, Longqin LiAbstract:A low-cost and large-scale Fabrication Method to an environmentally-friendly superhydrophobic coating on magnesium alloy is reported in this paper. The rough surface structure could be facilely obtained by electrodeposition of copper. Then the rough surface could be changed from hydrophilic to superhydrophobic via modification with lauric acid. The as-prepared coatings were characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), electrochemical corrosion test and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The as-prepared superhydrophobic coatings have ultra-low slide angles (2°) and contact angles of 154°. Our Method is of great value for the industrial Fabrication of superhydrophobic coatings. It has an excellent anti-corrosion effect and self-cleaning effect.

a new Fabrication Method for borosilicate glass capillary tubes with lateral inlets and outlets
Sensors and Actuators A-physical, 1997Co-Authors: M A Gretillat, F Paoletti, P Thiebaud, S Roth, M Koudelkahep, N F De RooijAbstract:Abstract In this paper a new Fabrication Method for borosilicate glass capillary tubes is presented. As the interest in miniaturized total chemical analysis systems (μ-TAS) is increasing, the need for fluidic paths is growing and thus the study of microchannels, microtubes and microcolumns is an important topic of the microfluidic area. The capillary tubes presented here are fabricated by structuring and bonding three borosilicate glass wafers (7740 Corning Pyrex sR). Microchannels with lateral inlets and outlets have been successfully realized and well-defined size and shape have been obtained. Several capillary tubes with widths from 340 to 940 μm have been realized as well as different section shapes, which can be circular, elliptic or quasi-rectangular. The main Fabrication steps and first characterizations are reported.

influence of test specimen Fabrication Method and cross section configuration on tension tension fatigue life of pmma bone cement
Journal of The Mechanical Behavior of Biomedical Materials, 2015Co-Authors: E M Sheafi, K E TannerAbstract:Different cyclic loading modes have been used in in vitro fatigue studies of PMMA bone cement. It is unclear which loading mode is most appropriate from the perspective of the in vivo loading experienced by the cement in a cemented arthroplasty. Also, in different in vitro fatigue studies, different test specimen configurations have been used. The present work considers the influence of test specimen Fabrication Method (direct moulding vs moulding followed by machining) and cross-section shape (rectangular vs circular) on the tension-tension fatigue performance of two bone cement brands (SmartSet GHV and CMW1), under force control conditions. Two trends were consistent: 1) for each of the cements, for moulded specimens, a longer fatigue life was obtained with circular cross-sectioned specimens and, 2) for either rectangular or circular CMW1 specimens, a longer fatigue life was obtained using machined specimens. A comparison of the present results to those reported in our previous work on fully-reversed tension-compression loading under force control showed that, regardless of the test specimen Fabrication Method or cross-section configuration used, the fatigue life was considerably shorter under tension-compression than tension-tension loading. This finding highlights the fact that the presence of the compression portion in the loading cycle accelerates fatigue failure.
