  • Surface Modification of Fire-Retardant Asphalt with Silane Coupling Agent

    Abstract:

    The theory and method of asphalt Fire-Retardant surface modified with silane coupling agent is introduced and the optimum silane dosage is determined.The structure and performance of asphalt Fire-Retardant before and after the surface modification is characterized through infrared spectrum and thermo gravimetric analysis.Dispersion effect of asphalt Fire-Retardant before and after the surface modification is studied and the influence of surface modification on the hydrophilicity and lipophilicity of asphalt Fire-Retardant is analysed contrastively.It is shown that obvious physical and chemical action occur between silane coupling agent and asphalt Fire-Retardant,which reduce the surface polarity of asphalt Fire Retardant with the optimum dosage of 0.95% for the asphalt Fire Retardant.And Surface modification strengthens the thermal stability,dispersibility and lipophilicity of asphalt Fire-Retardant so as to improve compatibility of asphalt and asphalt Fire-Retardant.

    Abstract:

    The paper introduced the theory and method of asphalt Fire-Retardant surface modified with Titanate Coupling Agent,and determined the optimum titanium ester dosage;the structure and performance of asphalt Fire-Retardant before and after the surface modification were represented through infrared spectrum and differential thermal analysis;dispersion effect of asphalt Fire Retardant before and after the surface modification were studied and the influence of surface treatment to the common performances and Fire resistance.Results showed that: titanium ester reacted with asphalt Fire-Retardant,reducing the surface polarity of asphalt Fire Retardant,and the optimum titanium ester dosage was 1.7% of the asphalt Fire Retardant;surface modification not only increased the thermal stability and dispersibility,but strengthened the compatibilty of asphalt Fire Retardant with asphalt and the performances of asphalt Fire Retardant were improved as well.

  • Development of the Modified Fire-Retardant Asphalt and Performance Evaluation on Its Mixture

    Abstract:

    This paper,based on the analysis of the existing research achievements at home and abroad,developed the Fire-Retardant modifier and modified Fire-Retardant asphalt and proposed their processing technique.The Fire resistance of the Fire-Retardant modifier was researched and its optimum dosage was determined through the testing the influence of the Fire-Retardant modifier dosage on the oxygen index and smoke density of the modified Fire-Retardant asphalt;the comprehensive performances of common modified asphalt,modified Fire-Retardant asphalt and its mixture were analyzed and researched through comparison test.The results show that: the Fire-Retardant modifier had good Fire resistance,the optimum dosage is 5.0% of the asphalt dosage,and the addition of the Fire-Retardant modifier had no bad influence on the comprehensive performances of the modified Fire-Retardant asphalt and its mixture.

    The theory and approach of the surface modified of asphalt Fire-Retardant with silane coupling agent were introduced. The optimum silane dosage was determined, and the structure and properties of the asphalt Fire-Retardant before and after the surface modification were characterized by infrared spectrum and thermo gravimetric analysis. The dispersion effect of asphalt Fire-Retardant was studied. The influence of the surface modification on the hydrophilicity and lipophilicity of the asphalt Fire-Retardant was analyzed. The experimental results showed that there were physical and chemical interactions between the silane coupling agent and the asphalt Fire-Retardant, which reduced the surface polarity of the asphalt Fire Retardant. The optimum silane coupling agent dosage was 0.95% of the asphalt Fire Retardant. The surface modification improved the thermal stability, dispersibility and lipophilicity of the asphalt Fire Retardant, which enhanced the compatibility between asphalt Fire Retardant and asphalt.

  • Fabrication of Three Fire-Retardant Poplar Gluing Composite Lumbers and Evaluation of Their Fire-Retardant and Smoke-Suppressant Performance

    Abstract:

    Wood-based composites is widely used in building and interior decoration field. However, it is easy for wood to get burnt, and abundant toxic smoke generating during the burning process has caused great casualties and property loss. In this study, poplar wood was chosen as test materials, and three Fire-Retardant were selected, i.e. the inorganic X type Fire-Retardant and the organic Fire-Retardant named F type, and the Z type Fire-Retardant which is an ordinary organic and inorganic combination Fire-Retardant and contains element Cl and N. Then after different treated process, three types of gluing composite lumbers were prepared. Thereafter, DSC, TG etc were adopted, and the Fire-Retardant, smoke-suppressant and mechanical performance of lumber were compared and evaluated. The results indicated that : (1) In a certain range of Fire-Retardant concentration, with the increase of concentration, all of these three Fire-Retardant had a much better Fire-Retardant and smoke- suppressant performance while the bonding strength of composite didn't show much variation and met the requirement of GB. (2) For the F type Fire-Retardant, when the concentration and process technique were the same, the Fire-retarded performance of Y type was better than the other two types, and it also had a good smoke-suppressant performance. (3) X type Fire-Retardant had an excellent Fire-Retardant and smoke-suppressant performance when its concentration was relatively large. (4) For Z type Fire-Retardant, it had a good Fire-retarding performance with a relatively small smoke amount, but some toxic gas such as HCl and NH3 was generated.

    Abstract:

    The mechanical and burning property of MDF which added the Fire Retardant and smoke suppression were tested with Mechanical machine, Limit Oxygen Index and Smoke testing apparatus. The result show that: the Fire Retardant and smoke suppression can weaken the mechanical property of MDF. Every 2% increment of Fire Retardant and smoke suppression coupled with 2%~12% inducement of mechanical strength of MDF; The Fire Retardant addition can reinforce the Fire-retardancy property and lowed the smoke generation of MDF, every 2% increment of Fire Retardant coupled with 2%~7% increment of Limit Oxygen Index and 9%~29% inducement of smoke generation.The effect of smoke suppress of MDF is promoted with the smoke suppression increment, every 2% increment of smoke suppression coupled with 5%~15% inducement of smoke generation.
