  • formal representation of meta Operation of chemical plants
    Systems Man and Cybernetics, 2007
    Co-Authors: Hossam A. Gabbar
    Abstract:

The synthesis of standard operating procedures (SOPs) of production and manufacturing plants is a complex process, which requires time and effort by process experts to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the target operating procedures. This research paper proposes a formal approach to structure and represent SOPs, which are used as a base to develop an automated Operation management solution. Stimulated from the formal methods, and to overcome the complexity of plant Operation, the concept of meta-Operation is introduced as a set of Generic Operation libraries, which is used to simplify the definition of complex Operation and to validate SOP. SOP formal language (SOPFL) is proposed to represent SOP as well as meta-Operations in English-like formal statements, which includes vocabulary and rules. A SOPFL-based editor and parser are developed to automatically synthesize and validate the syntax and semantics of SOP for production plants. The proposed solution is used to synthesize SOPs and meta-Operations of different case studies from batch and oil and gas plant processes.

  • An Analytical Model of the Switching Behavior of 4H-SiC p $^{\bm +}$ -n-n $^{\bm +}$ Diodes from Arbitrary Injection Conditions
IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2012
Co-Authors: S. Bellone, Francesco G. Della Corte, L. Di Benedetto, Gian Domenico Licciardo
    Abstract:

An analytical model of the switching behavior of SiC diodes is presented. The model gives an accurate description of the current and voltage transient for a wide range of reverse to forward current ratios and allows one to evaluate the spatial-temporal distributions of carriers density, current components and electric field along the base at a Generic instant of the whole transient. Using this model, a large-signal circuit is derived that is useful for circuital analysis of diode under Generic Operation conditions. The accuracy of the model is verified by comparisons with numerical simulations and experimental results.

  • A order mix decision model for make-to-order enterprise
2009 International Conference on Management Science and Engineering, 2009
    Co-Authors: Chao Wang
    Abstract:

Make-to-stock and Make-to-order are two Generic Operation modes commonly used in the manufacturing world. The make-to-order enterprise makes the production systems to produce a product only after it is ordered. The enterprise must decide which orders can be accepted to get the optimal profit and meet the due time. This paper addresses a order mix decision model in a make-to-order Operation environment. The mathematical model is proposed to select a set of customer orders to maximize the Operational profit such that all the selected orders are fulfilled by their deadline. With a given capacity limit on each resource type and its cost rate, solving this model leads to an optimal production mix for the orders over a given time horizon. The conclusion shows that it is not a optimal choice to accept all customer's orders although they can be produced before deadline. This paper tells the enterprise how to select the order mix according to the cost and production capacity planning.

  • Based on Capacity Planning of Order Selection Decision Model in Make-to-Order Enterprises

    Abstract:

This paper addresses an order selection decision model in a make-to-order Operation environment based on the short- term capacity-planning problem. • A Simple Unified Model for Generic Operation of Dual Active Bridge Converter
IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2019
Co-Authors: Suyash Sushilkumar Shah, Subhashish Bhattacharya
    Abstract:

This paper presents a simple and Generic model of a dual active bridge converter valid throughout its range of Operation. It is suitable for all operating modes and modulation strategies such as phase-shift, extended phase-shift, dual phase-shift, or triple phase-shift modulation. It hypothesizes that any mode of its Operation characterized by the duty ratios ( $d_1$ , $d_2$ ) of the two full-bridge converter ac voltages and the phase shift ( $\phi$ ) between them can be decomposed into four parallel dual active bridge circuits operating in simple phase-shift modulation. The hypothesis is proven mathematically; the average and small-signal models are derived and validated through simulations and experiments on a hardware prototype.

  • Achieving convergence, causality preservation, and intention preservation in real-time cooperative editing systems
ACM Transactions on Computer-Human Interaction, 1998
Co-Authors: Chengzheng Sun, Xiaohua Jia, Yanchun Zhang, Yun Yang, David Chen
    Abstract:

Real-time cooperative editing systems allow multiple users to view and edit the same text/graphic/image/multimedia document at the same time for multiple sites connected by communication networks. Consistency maintenance is one of the most significant challenges in designing and implementing real-time cooperative editing systems. In this article, a consistency model, with properties of convergence, causality preservation, and intention preservation, is proposed as a framework for consistency maintenance in real-time cooperative editing systems. Moreover, an integrated set of schemes and algorithms, which support the proposed consistency model, are devised and discussed in detail. In particular, we have contributed (1) a novel Generic Operation transformation control algorithm for achieving intention preservation in combination with schemes for achieving convergence and causality preservation and (2) a pair of reversible inclusion and exclusion transformation algorithms for stringwise Operations for text editing. An Internet-based prototype system has been built to test the feasibility of the proposed schemes and algorithms
