immunohistochemical detection of c5b 9 m in myocardium an aid in distinguishing infarction induced ischemic Heart Muscle Necrosis from other forms of lethal myocardial injury
Forensic Science International, 1995Co-Authors: H Thomsen, H HeldAbstract:Abstract Immunohistochemical detection of C5b-9 (m) is a reliable marker of very early cell necroses due to myocardial infarction. However, it is conceivable that it is also present in myocardial cell necroses caused by other types of hypoxic injury or by direct external trauma. If so, this would greatly limit the diagnostic value of C5b-9 (m) in forensic practice. To clarify this issue, we performed immunohistological staining for C5b-9 (m) in myocardium of 67 cases of ‘direct' or possible ‘indirect' myocardial injury not due to infarction.

Should the patient with myocardial bridge be advised not to performe extreme sport effort? Case of a patient with troponin I elevation after exercise
Kardiologia Polska, 2020Co-Authors: Krzysztof Jankowski, Ewa Ożdżeńska-milke, Łukasz Jankowski, Ewa Rzewuska, Edyta Ilnicka, Małgorzata Kobylecka, Piotr PruszczykAbstract:Elevated levels of cardiac troponins are an established method of diagnosis of Heart Muscle Necrosis. A case of a long distance amateur-marathon runner, who showed significant elevation of plasma troponin I after extreme physical effort is reported. The diagnostic examinations did not reveal atherosclerosis burden, but myocardial bridging of coronary artery. The authors describe the significance of the pathology in the view of extreme sport effort performed by the described patient.

Effects of ethanol on the development of experimental atherosclerosis and cardioNecrosis in rats.
Alcohol, 1990Co-Authors: Teresa Wrzolkowa, Teresa Rudzińska-kisielAbstract:Abstract The influence of chronic ethanol intoxication upon vitamin D-induced damage of cardiovascular system in rats was examined. Eighty rats, divided into 16 groups according to sex and age, were intoxicated with ethanol as the only source of liquid. Control rats drank water only. After 6 months of ethanol intoxication, part of ethanol and part of water-drinking rats received 3 × 100,000 IU vitamin D/rat, in order to induce atherosclerosis and Heart Muscle Necrosis. The results of the described experiment revealed that the degree of circulatory system damage after chronic ethanol intoxication and vitamin D treatment was dependent on the age of the animals at the beginning of the experiment. Ethanol intoxication intensified vitamin D-dependent Heart Muscle Necrosis in young individuals. In old rats chronic alcohol intoxication diminished atherosclerosis induced by vitamin D.
