  • Period of collection and Indolebutyric Acid in the rooting of minicuttings of Surinam cherry
    Universidade Estadual de Londrina, 2015
Co-Authors: Martha Lucía Peña Peña, Flávio Zanette, Luiz Antonio Biasi
    Abstract:

The minicutting is a promising vegetative propagation technique. This study makes a contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the propagation of Surinam cherry (Eugenia uniflora L.) (Myrtaceae), native tree of Brazil, with potential for ecological restoration, exploitation by food, cosmetic and medical industries, and can improve the life in rural communities. The aim of this study was to evaluate the viability of the minicutting technique in the vegetative propagation of Surinam cherry, through productivity and survival of ministumps, and rooting of minicuttings treated with different concentrations of Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) in the successive collections. Ministumps were obtained from seedlings produced by Surinam cherry seeds, which were grown in root plugs, and their tips were trimmed so as to stimulate shoot growth. From these ministumps eight successive collections of shoots (minicuttings) were made. A completely randomized experimental design was used in an 8 x 4 factorial arrangement (eight collection times of minicuttings and four concentrations of IBA), with four replications and 20 minicuttings as an experimental unit. The survival rate of the ministumps was 99.28% with mean yield of 362 minicuttings per m2 per month was obtained, considering 2.5 minicuttings per ministump per collection every 51 days. The greatest mean production of minicuttings occurred in the collection 4 (summer) and the least in the collection 8 (winter). Adventitious rooting was observed ranging from 57.2 (collection 6) to 97.2% (collection 1). The minicuttings derived from the first five collections made up to 247 days after installation of minigarden exhibit significantly greater rooting indices than those derived from the last three collections, in addition to the better quality of the root system. The rooting of minicuttings from seminal origin of Surinam cherry is enhanced with the use of IBA at concentrations of around 2,500 mg L-1.

    Abstract:

The blueberry is a temperate fruit, with great potential for increasing crop in Brazil. However, among the obstacles to expansion in the country is the dif?culty of vegetative propagation. Seeking to provide higher quality and speed of propagation of blueberry plants, the objective of this experiment was to evaluate different concentrations and forms of application of Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) on rooting of semihardwood cuttings of two cultivars, collected in march 2009. The experiment was carried out in a greenhouse, and each cutting was 10-12 cm long, with two half leaves. Cuttings were treated with 1

  • effect of naphthaleneacetic Acid and Indolebutyric Acid on rooting of jambul syzygium cumini l skeels cuttings
Revista Brasileira de Plantas Medicinais, 2010
Co-Authors: Giovana Bomfim De Alcantara, Yohana De Oliveira, Daniela Macedo De Lima, Luciana Alves Fogaca, Fernanda Pinto, Luiz Antonio Biasi
    Abstract:

Jambul usually propagates by seeds, which causes variability in the descendant plants and represents a problem in the formation of commercial orchards. The development of a protocol for vegetative propagation by cuttings would enable the reproduction of all features of the Mother plant, uniformity in populations and easy propagation. The aim of this work was to evaluate the effect of naphthaleneacetic Acid (NAA) and Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) on rooting of jambul cuttings. Twelve-cm-long cuttings from the median region of branches were prepared through bevel cut in the base and right cut above the last axillary bud, keeping one pair of halved leaves. Cutting bases were immersed for 10s in aqueous solutions containing NAA or IBA at 0, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg L-1 concentrations. Plastic trays containing medium sand were used in the planting. The cuttings were kept in a greenhouse under intermittent nebulization and, at 120 days after planting, the following variables were evaluated: percentage of rooted, with calluses, alive (not-rooted and without calluses) and dead cuttings; length of the three largest roots (cm); and number of roots per cutting. The best rooting was observed by using 1000 mg L-1 of both tested plant growth regulators. Rooting percentage was slightly higher under NAA relative to IBA.

    Abstract:

Abstract The objective of this work was to evaluate the rooting of herbaceous cuttings of CAMB-06 and APU-04 acerola cherry selections associated with the use of Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) and a concentration of aqueous extract of coco-grass. Cuttings were treated by immersion with different concentrations of IBA (0; 1,000; 2,000; 3,000; 4,000 mg L-1) and one application of aqueous extract of coco-grass in proportion 100% and placed to root in plastic boxes containing vermiculite. The experimental design was a completely randomized in a 2×6 factorial arrangement (two acerola cherry selections and six solutions for rooting) with four replicates of ten cuttings. After 90 days of cutting, the following variables were evaluated: cutting survival (%); leaf retention (%); rooted cuttings (%); sprouting (%); number of roots per cutting (%); length of roots (cm) and dry mass of roots per cutting (g). It was concluded that the application of IBA at 4,000 mg L-1 presented a better root development, resulting in a higher percentage of rooted cuttings and higher number and dry mass of roots in relation to IBA at 0 mg L-1 for CAMB-06 selection, while the APU-04 selection can be efficiently multiplied by herbaceous cuttings without the use of IBA. Under the conditions that the trials was conducted, the application of 100% aqueous extract of coco-grass was not effective in promoting the rooting of cuttings of CAMB-06 and APU-04 acerola cherry selections.

  • Association of Indolebutyric Acid with Azospirillum brasilense in the Rooting of Herbaceous Blueberry Cuttings
    Horticulturae, 2019
Co-Authors: Renata Koyama, Walter Aparecido Ribeiro Júnior, Douglas Mariani Zeffa, Ricardo Tadeu De Faria, Henrique Mitsuharu Saito, Leandro Simões Azeredo Gonçalves, Sergio Ruffo Roberto
    Abstract:

Association between auxins and plant growth-promoting bacteria can stimulate root growth and development of fruit crop nursery plants, and can be a promising biological alternative to increase the rooting of cuttings. The objective of this study was to assess the viability of producing ‘Powderblue’ blueberry nursery plants from cuttings using different doses of Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) in association with Azospirillum brasilense. The following treatments were tested: 0 (control); 500 mg L−1 of IBA; 1000 mg L−1 of IBA; A. brasilense; 500 mg L−1 of IBA + A. brasilense; and 1000 mg L−1 of IBA + A. brasilense. The experimental design was completely randomized, with six treatments and four replicates, and each plot (box) consisted of 10 cuttings. The boxes were arranged in a mist chamber with an intermittent regimen controlled by a timer and solenoid valve. After 90 days, the following variables were assessed: rooted cuttings; survival of cuttings; foliar retention; sprouting; cuttings with callus; root dry mass per cutting; number of roots per cutting; and root length. It was observed that the application of IBA with the A. brasilense rhizobacteria increased the number of roots of ‘Powderblue’ blueberry cuttings, while the treatments with IBA alone and IBA 1000 mg L−1 + A. brasilense increased the root length of cuttings. However, treatments with IBA and A. brasilense had no impact on % rooted cuttings and % survival of cuttings.

  • Blueberry Propagation by Minicuttings in Response to Substrates and Indolebutyric Acid Application Methods
    Journal of Agricultural Science, 2018
Co-Authors: Ronan Carlos Colombo, Deived Uilian De Carvalho, Maria Aparecida Da Cruz, Sergio Ruffo Roberto
    Abstract:

The nursery plants supply is one of the most important factors that limites blueberries production in some areas, due to some propagation difficulties observed on this species. In this way, this study aimed to evaluate substrates and IBA application methods on ‘Powderblue’ blueberries (Vaccinium ashei) minicuttings rooting, as well as to verify the rooting development in different periods. The study was divided in two experiments. The first one aimed to evaluate ‘Powderblue’ blueberry minicuttings rooting in three substrates (pine bark, carbonized rice husk and vermiculite) in response to two Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) application methods: 50% alcohol solution and talc. The second experiment aimed to evaluate ‘Powderblue’ blueberry minicuttings rooting using the best substrate recorded in the first trial (pine bark) and two IBA application methods associated to three periods of rooting access, in order to obtain the ideal rooting period and root development. In the first experiment the rooting percentage presented significant difference among the substrates; the higher percentage of rooted minicuttings occurred in pine bark substrate (68%). Regarding the methods used to IBA application, the talc method was more efficient to promote minicuttings rooting. In the second experiment, it was observed an increase in cutting rooting percentage from 55 to 84%, according to the evaluated seasons; however, the IBA application method did not influence the rooting percentage. Therefore, to produce ‘Powderblue’ blueberry plants from minicuttings it is recommended to use pine bark as substrate and talc as method to IBA application, transplanting the nurseries at 110 days after planting.

  • Collect Seasons, Indolebutyric Acid and Substrates on Rooting of ‘Bengal’ Lychee Cuttings
    Journal of Agricultural Science, 2018
Co-Authors: Ronan Carlos Colombo, Adriane Marinho De Assis, Vanessa Favetta, Lilian Y. Yamamoto, Sergio Ruffo Roberto
    Abstract:

Lychee (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) propagation by cuttings is a promising alternative in commercial production of seedlings, since it is an easy procedure, in addition to enabling the standardization in the field and the reduction in production costs. Therefore the objective of this work was to evaluate ‘Bengal’ lychee cuttings rooting, collected in spring and summer, using different concentrations of Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) and substrates. The experimental design was completely randomized, in a 3 × 3 factorial arrangement, with 5 replications and 10 cuttings per plot, and the following factors were adopted: IBA concentrations (0; 1,000 and 2,000 mg L-1) and types of substrates (carbonized rice husk, vermiculite medium granules and coconut fiber). At 140 days, the following variables were evaluated: cuttings survival; leaf maintenance; cuttings unrooted with calli; cuttings rooted; roots number per cutting; root length and root dry mass. In addition, the pH, electrical conductivity, density and water retention capacity of the substrates were evaluated. There was no difference in IBA concentrations applied in both evaluated periods. However, in the spring, the carbonized rice husk provided highest mean for the measured variables. On the other hand, in the summer, the rooting percentage presented a lower average in all substrates (< 1%), independent of the IBA concentrations. It was concluded that the ‘Bengal’ lychee propagation by cutting can be carried out in the spring, using carbonized rice husk as substrate, without IBA.

Co-Authors: Jussara Cristina Firmino Da Costa, Rejane Maria Nunes Mendonça, Gerciane Cabral Da Silva, Silvanda De Melo Silva, Walter Esfrain Pereira, Carlos Eduardo Magalhães Dos Santos
    Abstract:

In the commercial production of guava seedlings (Psidium guajava L.) the quality of the cuttings, homogeneity, high percentage of rooting are the factors important to be analyzed. Therefore, as the Século XXI cultivar is recent, it is necessary to do more studies regarding the behavior of this guava to the factors that aid in the rhizogenic process. The objective of this work was to verify the concentrations of Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) that provide the best rooting of cuttings herbaceous and semihardwood, as well as to verify the best kind of cuttings used for vegetative propagation the guava cuttings cultivar ‘Século XXI’. The experimental design was completely randomized in a 5 x 2 + 1 factorial design, beginning with five concentrations of IBA (0, 1000, 1500, 2000 and 2500 mg L-1), two kinds of cuttings (herbaceous and semihardwood) and one control treatment (immersed in distilled water for 12 hours), with four replications and 10 cuttings per plot. In relation of the variables: the percentage of cuttings live without roots, callus, number of roots and dry weight of shoots did not present significant interaction among treatments, not adjusting to any regression model. Therefore, concluding that the herbaceous cutting is the most indicated for the propagation of guava seedlings of ‘Século XXI’; The concentration of 2500 mg L-1 of IBA promotes a higher percentage of rooted semihardwood cuttings without leaf; The hormone solution diluted with alcohol 50% (v/v) resulted in toxicity for herbaceous and semihardwood cuttings cv. Século XXI.

Journal of Experimental Agriculture International, 2019
Co-Authors: Jussara Cristina Firmino Da Costa, Rejane Maria Nunes Mendonça, Gerciane Cabral Da Silva, Silvanda De Melo Silva, Walter Esfrain Pereira, Carlos Eduardo Magalhães Dos Santos
    Abstract:

In the rhizogenic process, the immersion time of the base of the cuttings to be propagated in plant regulators depends on the concentration of the solutions, the cultivar to be used and the type of cutting required. Therefore, this research work has as objective to investigate which immersion time, in solution with Indolebutyric Acid promotes a greater rooting in herbaceous cuttings of guava cultivar Século XXI. The experiment was distributed in the completely randomized design, being defined as treatments the immersion times (5, 10, 15 and 20 seconds) of the base of the cuttings in the solution of Indolebutyric Acid - IBA at the concentration of 2000 mg L-1, with three replicates and 10 cuttings per plot. In relation the variable dry mass of the aerial part, this presents a favorable response to the different immersion times in Indolebutyric Acid. Diverging of the variables cuttings rooted, live without root, number of roots, root length, callus, sprout, leaf retention and mortality which were not influenced by the different immersion times of the base of the cuttings in the plant regulator. Concluding that the different times of immersion of the base of the cuttings do not influence in the rhizogenic process of herbaceous cuttings of guava cultivar Século XXI. For the variable dry mass of aerial part, the immersion time of 5 seconds in the concentration of 2000 mg L-1 in AIB, present the better results when compared to the other concentrations.

  • Effect of ethephon and Indolebutyric Acid on yellow mombin propagation via cutting
    Universidade Federal de Goiás, 2017
Co-Authors: Mário Leno Martins Véras, Rejane Maria Nunes Mendonça, Silvanda De Melo Silva, Christiane Mendes Cassimiro Ramires, Walter Esfrain Pereira
    Abstract:

One of the obstacles in the commercial cultivation of yellow mombin (Spondias mombin L.) is the difficulty in establishing a propagation protocol for the species. This study aimed to assess the effect of treating mother plants with ethephon and applying Indolebutyric Acid (IBA) to yellow mombin cuttings. A completely randomized design was used, consisting of nine treatments, with ethephon (0 mg L-1; 14.5 mg L-1; 50 mg L-1; 85.5 mg L-1; 100 mg L-1) and IBA (0 mg L-1; 872.35 mg L-1; 3,000 mg L-1; 5,127.65 mg L-1; 6,000 mg L-1) doses, combined according to the central compound box, with four replications. Each experimental unit consisted of 12 cuttings. The highest rooting percentages of yellow mombin cuttings were observed without the application of ethephon (45.83 %) in the matrix plants and with the use of 3,000 mg L-1 of IBA (31.94 %). For the rooting of yellow mombin cuttings, it is not recommended to use ethephon for treating the matrix plant before the cuttings are removed. The dose of 3,000 mg L-1 of IBA provides the maximum rooting of yellow mombin cuttings, being this dose the most recommended for the propagation via cutting

  • Organogenesis in vitro of Nothofagus alpina (P. et E.) Oerst, Fagaceae.
    Plant cell reports, 1996
    Co-Authors: Miguel Jordan, J. Velozo, A. M. Sabja
    Abstract:

In vitro shoot and root regeneration of 2-year-old Nothofagus alpina plants was achieved from several types of expiants cultured in vitro on a modified Woody Plant Medium formulation. Multiple shoot formation was obtained from leaf expiants using 0.45–2.27 μM thidiazuron and 0.0049–0.098 μM Indolebutyric Acid. Excised axillary buds formed shoots and roots in the presence of 0.0049 μM benzyladenine and 2.46 μM Indolebutyric Acid, or in the absence of plant growth regulators. Nodal sections rooted when 2.46 μM Indolebutyric Acid at was supplied in the medium. Subcultured shoots originating from nodal sections showed a high regeneration rate through multiple shoot and root formation.
