    Abstract:

    The current study evaluated the validity of Rorschach variables in assessing interpersonal competence in children. Participants were three groups of 4th-5th- and 6th-grade children identified by a peer nomination measure: 24 popular children, 9 rejected, aggressive children, and 20 rejected, non-aggressive children. ANOVAs, chi-square analyses, and Fisher’s Exact Test were used to analyze data for validity indices, human representational responses, and other Rorschach variables relevant to social competence [1]. There were no significant differences between popular children and the two peer-rejected groups of children for Rorschach variables related to prosocial skills (Good Human Representation and Cooperative responses). In contrast, group differences did provide some support for Rorschach variables related to deficits in interpersonal competence (Poor Human Representation and Aggressive responses; D scores). Until more validity research is conducted, examiners should be cautious when drawing conclusions about social competence on the basis of children’s Rorschach responses.

    Abstract:

    A call is issued for a moratorium on the use of the Rorschach Inkblot Test in clinical and forensic (but not research) settings. The moratorium should last until we have determined which Rorschach scores are valid and which ones are invalid. Unfortunately, for most Rorschach scores, results from meta-analyses have been uninformative. Also, incremental validity has not been studied for most Rorschach scores. Furthermore, positive findings for Rorschach scores have rarely been independently replicated. Finally, selective reporting of results has been a problem: Some investigators report significant results but not nonsignificant results. The magnitude of this problem has not been determined. Unless a moratorium is adopted, clinicians will continue to interpret invalid scores along with valid scores.

    Abstract:

    Objective: To study the character and the possible projective mechanism of children with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) in Rorschach Inkblot Test.Methods: 40 boy children with ADHD and 40 control children were administered with EPQ and projective technique of Rorschach Inkblot Test.The results were analyzed by statistic methods.Results: The ADHD group had significant higher RIT variables scores in AG、Lambda、Sh、X-%、SCZI、DEPI and CDI variables than the control group(P0.05),and had significant lower RIT variables scores in Zf、COP、3r+2/R、Zd、X+% and Sum 6 variables than the control group(P0.05);There was significant correlation between the RIT variables scores and the scale's T score in EPQ.Conclusion: ADHD children have distinct response character in Rorschach Inkblot Test,including the impairment about object relation,emotional trait,ego function,and cognitive function.It explained that some traits of ADHD children's inner world are projected by RIT,which include badness of self-consciousness and co-personal relationship,aggressive,emotional problem,cognitive process and thinking ability problem.

    In the 1940s, inflated claims were often made regarding the Rorschach Inkblot Test. Over half a century later, overstatements regarding the Test are still common. The present article identifies problems with the Rorschach regarding norms, cultural sensitivity, interrater reliability, Test-reTest reliability, validity, factor structure, and accessibility of supporting studies. Contrary to overstated claims made on behalf of the Rorschach, the Test continues to be a highly problematic instrument from a psychometric standpoint.
