Tras un proceso de localización, selección e interpretación documental, el objetivo de este trabajo ha sido identificar la genealogía de dicho dispositivo en el contexto español. Para ello se ha puesto el foco en las manifestaciones técnicas, en los conflictos y en los discursos sobre los que se fue conformando ese nuevo espacio profesional. Journal of International Business Studies, 2004Co-Authors: Ram Mudambi, Pietro NavarraAbstract:In recent years, as multinational corporation (MNC) subsidiaries have become more closely linked to international networks, their Knowledge intensity has risen, and some of their R&D has gained a more creative role. Simultaneously, and often connectedly, many subsidiaries have acquired considerable strategic independence in all aspects of their operations, and therefore are able to exercise considerable intra-firm bargaining Power to influence the distribution of the firm's resources. In this context, we suggest that intra-MNC Knowledge flows are a key determinant of subsidiary bargaining Power. We argue that subsidiary managers can exploit such Power to pursue their own ends. Such rent-seeking behavior is implicit in much of the literature on managerialism, but our analysis suggests that such behavior can now occur in headquarters–subsidiary and subsidiary–subsidiary relations. Thus subsidiary strategic independence, designed to enhance the competitiveness of outputs (market Knowledge) and inputs (asset-seeking and learning), can be corroded when the pursuit of subsidiary objectives encourages rent-seeking. Empirical analysis of a sample of high-technology subsidiaries in the UK provides strong support for the theory. We examine several avenues whereby the incentives of units within the MNC can be aligned.

Educational Researcher, 2012Co-Authors: Arnetha F BallAbstract:In this 2012 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Presidential Address, the author considers this year’s conference theme—how to take what we know from research and put it to effective (policy and practice) use. The essay challenges members individually and collectively to improve the connection. She reflects on the history of AERA as an organization, why many seminal research studies fail to get relevant uptake, several models that are instructive in considering the translation process, and comments on several of the papers commissioned by AERA, in advance of the 2012 meeting, which also address different aspects of the translation challenge. The author highlights her own model of change, which she refers to as the Model of Generative Change, and explains the stages or phases of generativity that can be experienced in the research lives of education researchers.

Violȇncia, corpo e erotismo: uma revisăo de sadomasoquismo e a pornografia à margem da sus representatividade

Examinamos dos fenómenos asociados a la sexualidad, al cuerpo y al erotismo: el sadomasoquismo y la pornografía. Establecemos algunas consideraciones de la violencia a través de los marcos móviles que determinan su representabilidad, y posteriormente trazamos un análisis del sadomasoquismo como un fenómeno que ha sido normalizado en nuestra época a través de discursos de saber-poder, así como por medio de la industria cultural pornográfica, lo que nos conduce a suponer que la violencia en el acto erótico sadomasoquista es irrepresentable. Por último, concluimos que en un inminente régimen biopolítico es necesario desconfiar de las formas en las que determinadas prácticas son normalizadas y visibilizadas como violencia. In this paper, violence and ways of representability becomes problematic. We examine two phenomena associated with sexuality, body and erotism: sadomasochism and pornography. We establish some considerations of violence through mobile frameworks that determine their representability, and then, we draw an analysis of sadomasochism as a phenomenon that has been normalized in our time through Knowledge-Power speeches, and through pornographic culture industry, which leads us to asume that violence in teh sadomasochistic erotic act is unrepresentable. Finally, we conclude that, in an imminent biopolitical regime becomes necessary to wary of the ways that certain practices are normalized and made visible as violence. Neste ensaio, problematiza-se a violȇncia e as suas formas de representatividade. Examinamos dois fenômenos asociados à sexualidade, ao corpo e ao erotismo: sadomasoquismo e pornografia. Estabelecemos algumas considerações da violência através de quadros móveis que determinam a sua representatividade e logo depois desenhamos uma análise do sadomasoquismo como um fenômeno que tem sido normalizado em nosso tempo através de discursos saber-poder, e através da indústria da cultura pornográfica, o que nos leva a supor que a violência no ato erótico sadomasoquista é irrepresentável . Finalmente, podemos concluir que num regime biopolítico iminente é necessário ter desconfiança com os caminhos que certas práticas são padronizados e tornadas visíveis como a violência.
