    Abstract:

    This paper presents ten species of eight genera and four families (Ameroseiidae, Ascidae, Blattisociidae, Laelapidae) of soil-inhabiting mesostigmatic mites in Kazakhstan. Eight of them are species that are recorded for the first time in Kazakhstan: Ameroseius corbiculus (Sowerby, 1806), Antennoseius (Vitzthumia) oudemansi (Thor, 1930), Cosmolaelaps lutegiensis (Shcherbak, 1971), C. markewitschi (Pirianyk, 1959), Gaeolaelaps nolli (Karg, 1962), Laelaspis astronomicus (Koch, 1839), Lasioseius ometes (Oudemans, 1903), and Pseudoparasitus missouriensis (Ewing, 1909). In addition, Gaeolaelaps kanati Joharchi Issakova sp. nov. is described from Kazakhstan, based on morphological characters of the adult female.

    Abstract:

    This paper reports on ten species, in six enera, of soil-inhabiting mites of the family Laelapidae from Assiut Governorate, Egypt. The species Androlaelaps projecta Furman, 1972, Gaeolaelaps mirzakhaniae Kazemi Khalesi, 2018, G. nolli (Karg, 1962), Hypoaspisella asperatus (Berlese, 1904a) comb. nov., Laelaspis calidus Berlese, 1924 and Ololaelaps tasmanicus (Womersely, 1956) are recorded for the first time from Egypt. Supplementary descriptions of some species are presented to facilitate species delimitation. The males of Cosmolaelaps longus (Hafez, Elbadry Nasr, 1982) and O. tasmanicus are described for the first time.

    Two new species of mites in the genus Cosmolaelaps (Laelapidae) are described from specimens collected from soil-litter in Sri Lanka-C. ceylonensis sp. nov. and C. trichiurus sp. nov. The genus Cosmolaelaps is reported for the first time from Sri Lanka.

    Two new mite species of the genus Gaeolaelaps (Laelapidae), G . lankaensis sp. nov. and G. setillus sp. nov. , collected from soil-litter in Sri Lanka, are described and illustrated based on morphological characters of the adult females. Both species have the unusual character state of a three-tined palp tarsal claw. The genus Gaeolaelaps is reported for the first time from Sri Lanka. An updated key to the species with a three-tined palp tarsal claw is presented.

    This paper reports on six species of soil-inhabiting mites of the family Laelapidae from Zanzibar, Tanzania: Gaeolaelaps praesternalis (Willmann), G. zanzibarensis sp. nov., Hypoaspisella bernhardi sp. nov., Ololaelaps placentula (Berlese), Ololaelaps placidus (Banks) and Pseudoparasitus missouriensis (Ewing). The subgenus Hypoaspis (Hypoaspisella) Bernhard, 1971 is raised to the genus level and its diagnosis is clarified.
