The so-obtained cell, Mg ¦ Magnesium Perchlorate ¦ poly ( o -methoxyaniline) ¦ gold, was able to supply energy with a power depending on discharge current and on environmental humidity. Values of power up to 2.5 mW cm −2 at discharge currents of about 2 mA cm −2 were reached.

Notably, the present method offers desirable advantages of good yields, simplicity of workup procedure, easy purification, and reduced reaction times.

Stereoselectivity was readily achieved. Secondary amines exclusively produced N,N-disubstituted cyclopentafullerenes as cis isomers, while arylamines gave N-monosubstituted cyclopentafullerenes with a preference of cis isomers as major products. N-Monosubstituted cyclopentafullerenes could be further converted into other scarce cyclopentafullerenes in the presence of acid chloride or paraformaldehyde. A possible reaction pathway was proposed to elucidate the formation of amino-substituted cyclopentafullerenes.

RSC Advances, 2016Co-Authors: Hongyu Zhang, Huijuan Wang, Fabao Li, Xiaofeng ZhangAbstract:The facile one-step reaction of [60]fullerene with arylmethanamines and aryl aldehydes in the presence of Magnesium Perchlorate under air conditions generated a series of scarce 2,5-diaryl fulleropyrrolidines in good to excellent yields. Intriguingly, all the formed 2,5-diaryl fulleropyrrolidines were confirmed only as cis isomers and thus displayed high stereoselectivity. In addition, the type of aryl aldehyde was found to have a great correlation with the formation of different 2,5-diaryl fulleropyrrolidines. Aryl aldehydes without electron-withdrawing groups always afforded exclusively the desired 2,5-diaryl fulleropyrrolidines, while aryl aldehydes connecting electron-withdrawing groups unexpectedly produced symmetrical 2,5-diaryl fulleropyrrolidines besides the anticipated fulleropyrrolidines. A plausible formation mechanism for the 2,5-diaryl fulleropyrrolidines was proposed.
