  • Characteristics of the Paradigm of Marxist Economics——With Respect to Post-modernist Marxist Economic Paradigm
    Teaching and Research, 2007
    Co-Authors: Zhu Kui
    Abstract:

The author holds that the concept of paradigm helps define Marxist Economics. It shows what Marxist Economics is and what its internal mechanism and motive for perfection and development are like.Post-modernist Marxist Economics, denies the basis of logical analysis of Marxist Economics, that is,methodology of historical materialism and value of labor. For this reason,post-modernist Marxist Economics is criticized for having abandoned the core of Marxist economic paradigm. The author emphasizes that while the conceptual paradigm of Marxist Economics should be adhered to,operation of the paradigm needs further perfection and even adjustment along with the theoretical development and with the passage of time. This is mainly reflected in specific methodology and particular propositions, though.

  • the evolution of capitalism in the change of capitalist mode of production a new path of developing Marxist Economics
Journal of Guizhou College of Finance and Economics, 2009
    Co-Authors: Qiao Zhen
    Abstract:

In understanding the evolution of capitalism,we used to simply adopt the axiom that the level of productive forces determines relations of production, which brings about a difficult question: what level of productive forces determines the destruction of capitalism? In fact, there is a deep interpretation of the principle in Marxist Economics: the determination effect works with the intermediary of mode of production, which promotes the development of productivity and embodies change in relations of production. In the evolution of capitalism, capitalist mode of production has gone through three stages, which correspond with the three periods in the evolution of capitalism. This indicates that the evolution of mode of production can be used to explain the change in capitalism, and that Marxist Economics contains theories with practical explanatory power.

  • A Comparison of the Production Theories of Western Economics and Marxist Economics——A Methodological Perspective
    Economic Survey, 2007
    Co-Authors: Liu Feng-yi
    Abstract:

There are three essential differences in the approaches to production theories of western Economics and Marxist Economics: the production theory of western Economics starts from the hypothesis of "economic man" and regards laborers only as a production factor, whereas the production theory of Marxist economy starts from "historical, realistic man",researches laborers as both factor and main part of production. The production theory of western Economics only researches general production, therefore use value(that is,avail) is the center of research;Marxist Economics not only researches general production but emphasizes researching the concrete social form of production, and therefore regards value as the center of research.Western Economics uses the approach of individualism and researches production theory only in the micro field, which results in the micro and macro separation of its theoretical system;Marxist Economics uses materialist dialectic and researches capitalist production and reproduction in micro and macro organic connection.

  • Analyzing Human Beings and Their Economic Behaviors in the Light of Economics —A Comparative Study of Marxist Economics and New Systemic Economics
    Teaching and Research, 2001
    Co-Authors: Liu Feng-yi
    Abstract:

The point of departure in studying Marxist Economics is always individual persons in real life situations. In the study of the new systemic Economics, however, the point of departure is human beings in abstract terms categorized as individual economic man. It is true that Marxist Economics recognizes personal material interests, and have the interests scientifically defined. The new systemic Economics, the author maintains, only emphasizes abstract analysis of persuasion of maximum personal material interests, while neglects the social aspects of personal material interests in reality. According to Marxist Economics, realization of personal interests is not merely through rational selection of individuals, but rather, it is determined by regulation of social production relations instead. The new systemic Economics, on the contrary, believes that it is individual rational choice that determines realization of personal interest and in turn leads to social changes.

  • why Marxist Economics should be taught but probably won t be
    Capital & Class, 2003
    Co-Authors: Peter Clarke, Andrew Mearman
    Abstract:

An argument will be made for the teaching of Marxist Economics. This will draw upon the intrinsic and instrumental aims of education, as well as other literature in education. A case is made that Marxist Economics should be taught. This is based on Marxist arguments against the orthodoxy, namely that it serves capitalist interests; and also educational arguments and the perceived ability of Marxist Economics to meet educational aims. It then moves on to discuss why it is unlikely that Marxist Economics will be taught in this way.
