  • Moral Connotation and Ethical Significance of Pre-Qin Literature
Journal of Anhui Normal University, 2013
    Co-Authors: Qian Guang-rong
    Abstract:

The intrinsic property of literature is the "natural" relation with ethics. The analysis of ethical Connotation in literary works in specific historic period is an important way to understand and grasp modern ethics. The ethical Connotation of pre-Qin literature is mainly expressed from the following aspects:praise of king, ideal life pursued by the working class, clear mind of public and private, conduct of public first, criticism of the ruling class's creating inharmonious ethics, pleasant beauty of expecting marriage, different virtue ethics between the male and female, and so on.They are of great significance in revealing the source of Chinese civilization development history, basing the logical starting point of Chinese ethics thought history, and initiating the Moral construction of "writings are for conveying truth."

  • Moral Paradox Research Needs to Expand in Three Cognitive Directions
Journal of Anhui Normal University, 2007
    Co-Authors: Qian Guang-rong
    Abstract:

Moral paradox research is a new interdisciplinary field.People who consider the objective laws of the Moral civilization development especially the perplexity in the development of contemporary Chinese society cause its rise.Certainly it still rests on the initial stage and needs to be expanded, which thus needs to clarify the three cognitive directions: analyze and describe the Moral Connotation of paradox with ethical methods;analyze and describe the historical track of the Moral civilization development with paradoxical methods;broaden the vision of logical paradox study.

  • Harm avoiders suppress motor resonance to observed imMoral actions
Social cognitive and affective neuroscience, 2014
Co-Authors: Marco Tullio Liuzza, Matteo Candidi, Anna Sforza, Salvatore Maria Aglioti
    Abstract:

Motor resonance (MR) contingent upon action observation is thought to occur largely automatically. Although recent studies suggest that this process is not completely impervious to top-down modulations, much less is known on the possible role of the Moral Connotation of observed action goal in modulating MR. Here, we explored whether observing actions with different Moral Connotations modulates MR and whether any modulation depends on the onlookers' personality. To this aim, we recorded motor potentials evoked by single-pulse transcranial magnetic stimulation from hand muscles of participants who were watching images of a model performing hand actions with the same postures and low-level goals (i.e. grasping an object) but with different Moral Connotations ('stealing a wallet' vs 'picking up a notepaper'). Participants' personality traits were measured using the temperament and character inventory. Results show a selective suppression of corticospinal excitability during observation of imMoral actions in individuals with high scores in harm avoidance, a personality trait characterized by excessive worrying and fearfulness. Thus, a combination of dispositional (personality traits) and situational (Morality of an action) variables appears to influence MR with the observed actions.

    HAL CCSD, 2017
    Co-Authors: Vialle Manon
    Abstract:

Growth in age-related female infertility in European and North American societies raises demands for assisted reproductive technologies (ART) and leads each society to question its norms and practices. In France, this question reveals the specificity of the bioethics model that frames the techniques of ART, as well as its increasing tensions and contradictions. The particularity of this model is to present itself as strictly "therapeutic" and to rely on the opposition between "normal" infertility and "pathological" infertility. This opposition encourages one another, with a more Moral Connotation, that distinguishes a legitimate ART and an ART called "personal convenience", legitimizing a social and medical discourse that is particularly conservative and reactive in the face of prospects for the use of medical techniques for the purpose to mitigate female infertility related to age.Based on two surveys, one with ART professionals and the other with women facing age-related infertility, this thesis proposes to understand infertility in a pragmatic approach by adopting a relational approach. It thus reveals that the rules governing access to ART in France and social discourse, based on the opposition between the two types of infertilities, are based on a too narrow, simplified and, in the end, not taking into consideration the view of infertility itself. Our research makes it possible to discover the existence of normative referents not taken into account by this model, which are nevertheless central in the practices of professionals and women. This thesis opens up a more complex approach to infertility that is both biological, but also and always social, relational and temporal.
