    Abstract:

    Cultural misunderstanding, conflict, difsculties, anxiety or uncertainty   is stipulated due to contrast expectation, unwillingness to compromise   or the different ways of life orientation. Present study aims to validate a scale to determine the extent Multicultural Awareness among multiethnic society of Malaysia. A key snding indicated that, the instruments are walid and reliable in assessing level of cultural Awareness among Multicultural society of Malaysia using part-time post-graduate students’ samples from a public higher education institution. Multicultural Awareness is vital to lessen ethnocentrism, racism and stereotyping in building a harmonious interracial interactions and integration.     Abstract:

    Intercultural conflict is stipulated due to unwillingness to compromise or the different ways of life orientation. UnAwareness to the different cultural cues or frame of references caused resistance, rejection or separation which jeopardizes a harmonious interethnic relationship. The present study was aim to validate a scale to determine the extent Multicultural Awareness among multiethnic society of Malaysia. A key finding indicated that, the instrument is valid and reliable. Multicultural Awareness is important in order to reduce an ethnocentrism in building a harmonious interracial interactions and integration. The implication toward the effectiveness of intercultural relations are highlighted and discussed.

    Abstract:

    Culture is a cognitive element of collective learni ng knowledge that shaped individual and group behaviours, traits, characteristics and ways of bei ng. Intercultural difficulties, conflict, anxiety a nd uncertainty occur when two or more cognitive cultur al mindsets are conflicting with each other in determining the appropriate way of doing things. Le sson from tragic conflict between Malays and Chinese in May-July 1969, Malaysian government are carefully addressing interracial and ethnic relations issues to avoid any possibilities of trag ic violence. Bandura’s social learning theory underlined that a symbolic environment plays a sign ificant role influencing people’s daily ways of lives. Intercultural relations effectiveness is dep ending on the Awareness and integration of social system in harmonious socio relationship. Thus, the main objective of this study is to validate a scale to determine the Multicultural Awareness among multiethnic society of Malaysia. A stratified random sampling has been used to identify the undergraduat e students from the public higher education institution. In this cross-sectional design, identi fied students have being approached personally to administer a survey questionnaire. Thus, the key fi nding of the present study confirmed that, the instruments are valid and reliable in assessing lev el of cultural Awareness among Multicultural societ y of Malaysia. The implication to increase effectiven ess of intercultural relations are highlighted and discussed.

    Abstract:

    Building a knowledgebase regarding Multicultural beliefs and practices will help health care providers meet the challenge of caring for persons of diverse cultures. It is evident that developing greater Multicultural Awareness will also help health care workers improve patient care. For this reason, an Interdisciplinary Multicultural Patient Care Team (IMPACT) was developed at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics (UWHC) and UW Children's Hospital in 1994. The IMPACT sought funds through the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Institute on Race and Ethnicity to conduct a hospital- and clinic-wide survey of its 4,000 full- and part-time employees regarding their understanding of Multicultural issues. The goal of the survey was to expand upon the pilot study conducted in 1994 with the intent of ascertaining staff cultural Awareness and educational needs. Over 800 multidisciplinary personnel returned the survey for a 21 percent response rate. These data will be used to set up educational programs and develop a resource network for all personnel.

    Abstract:

    As the population becomes more diverse, social work educators will bear a larger responsibility for educating culturally competent practitioners. To enhance student learning, research should consider those factors that influence students' Multicultural Awareness, knowledge, and skills. This information potentially can help students better prepare for cultural competency courses and improve student outcomes. The focus of this study was to evaluate BSW and MSW students' (N = 191) Multicultural Awareness, knowledge, and skills at the beginning and end of a required cultural diversity course. The results indicate that more previous diversity trainings at different sites consistently predict higher pre-test scores while previous diversity training sites and pre-test scores predict post-test scores. The paper concludes with a brief discussion of research, practice, and teaching implications.

    Abstract:

    The 39th radiology Intersociety Committee reviewed the current state of diversity among trainees and in our workplaces and addressed future strategies for fostering diversity through inclusion. The assembled participants addressed the imperatives and drivers for diversity and developed a road map to foster diversity. Themes included the need to be proactive in increasing Awareness of our own biases and their potential impact on workplace decisions, overcoming blind spots, and being culturally sensitive. The need to identify and eliminate barriers to diversity was discussed at both the organizational and practice level and included efforts to break down structural and clinical barriers, such as training in Multicultural Awareness. Additional strategies that were addressed included building inclusive work environments; facilitating debate, conversations, and community building; and pipelining medical students through mentoring pathways. The conference ended with a call to action to develop toolkits with effective resources to support the necessary diversity and inclusion initiatives we must all undertake.
