    Objective To conclude the clinical treatment experience and the preventive measure about Newborn Tetanus.Methods The treatment of 7 cases with Newborn Tetanus were analyzed retrospectively.Results In the 7 cases,5 cases were cured,1 case was transported to other hospital,1 cases was dead.Conclusion The major treating measures were using large dosage Tetanus antitoxin(TAT)and diazepam,preventing and treating infection actively,providing adequate calorie and keeping the environment quiet.Small dosage TAT might make the disease delayed or more curious.Popularizing new midwifery can prevent the Tetanus of Newborns.

    Objective To analyze the monitoring results of Tetanus among Newborn infants in Nanyang city in 3 years and master the general situation of infection of Tetanus among Newborn infants in Nanyang city to make effective prevention measures. Methods The three years' monitoring data were analyzed and evaluated. Results The infective rates in 1999, 2000 and 2001 were 0 09‰, 0.07‰ and 0.04‰ respectively. The annual disease incidence in Tetanus infected counties in the 3 years all were below 1‰. Conclusion Various types of propaganda should be made to effectively reduce the disease incidence. The labor in hospital should be advocated. Women of childbearingage should be inoculated with Tetanus toxin to decrease the Newborn Tetanus incidence effectively.

    Abstract:

    Background: Tetanus is a severe disease that kills one new born every eleven minutes or 134 babies each day. To prevent the infection of both mother and the Newborn, Tetanus toxoid immunization is given to pregnant women and women of child bearing age in Ethiopia. However, little data is available on the dropout of Tetanus toxoid immunization among the reproductive age group of women in the study area. Methods: with the objective of to assess the drop out of Tetanus toxoid immunization and its associated factors among the reproductive age group of women in Debrebirhan Town, Amhara region, Ethiopia, a community based cross-sectional study was conducted from March 1 to 30, 2017 on systematically sampled 422 study subjects. The data was collected using interviewer administered pretested questionnaires and the collected data was entered into Epi-data version 3.1.5, then, exported to SPSS version 20 for analysis. Descriptive statistical analysis was done and frequency distributions displayed, mean and standard deviations were calculated. Then, bivariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis was done to identify the association between independent and dependent variables. Result: The study showed that the dropout rate of Tetanus toxoid was 72.3% of which Tetanus toxoid vaccine 5th accounts for 29.8% of the drop out. Knowledge of the importance of TT vaccine, number of required doses for full immunization, its schedules, educational status and occupational status of the study participants were found to be significantly associated with dropout rate of TT immunization. Conclusion: The prevalence of dropout rate of Tetanus toxoid immunization was high in the study area and Knowledge of the importance of TT vaccine, number of required doses for lifelong protection and, its schedules, educational and occupational status were found to be significantly associated with TT immunization dropout rate.

    In the spring of 1992 a child health survey (Monitoring Scheme for Mortality of Children Under 5 Years of Age in China) was conducted in Henan Province among 10 representative cities and counties. The sample included the monitoring sites at Gongyi City Mi County and Lushi County. The sample population included 710570 of which 55740 were aged 0-4 years 1473 were born in 1991 and 579 died in 1991. Child mortality was 55.58% and close to the national average. The ratio of male/female child mortality was 1:1.3. Infant mortality was 85.8% of total child mortality. 72.85% of infant mortality was Newborn mortality (46.40% within the first 24 hours and 81.76% within 7 days of birth). Child mortality was higher in rural areas. 59.3% of mortality occurred while the child was at home and 28.7% on the way to medical treatment and 24.35% did not have treatment or parents consciously decided not to seek treatment. The primary causes of death at 0-7 days were suffocation during birth premature delivery at birth pneumonia neural tube defects accidental suffocation and Newborn Tetanus. Ranked causes at 0-18 days from high to low were suffocation during birth pneumonia premature delivery neural tube defects accidental suffocation and Newborn Tetanus. At under 1 year the causes were pneumonia suffocation during birth premature delivery accidental suffocation neural tube defects and congenital heart disease. At 1-4 years the primary causes were pneumonia accidental suffocation congenital heart diseases other malformation and other diseases. For mortality under 4 years of age the causes were pneumonia congenital malformations premature delivery accidental suffocation neural tube defects and congenital heart diseases. The 1990 Summit Conference on Childrens Issues in the World recommended reducing child mortality by 33% by the year 2000. This means a considerable reduction for China.

    The objective of this study conducted between January 2000 and December 2007 was to assess the current epidemiological, clinical and outcome features of maternal Tetanus (MT) observed in the Infectious Diseases Clinic of Fann University Hospital in Dakar, Senegal. A total of 1156 patients were admitted for Tetanus during this period including 9 (0.8%) presenting MT. A progressive decrease in the annual number of MT cases was observed. The mean age of MT patients was 28.3 years [range, 18 to 40 years]. Most cases (n=6) involved persons living in suburban areas, as did Tetanus in women of childbearing age (WCBA) (51.9% of 129 cases) and in neonates (63.1 % of 103 cases) admitted during the same period. All patients had fallen behind the vaccination schedule. Septic abortion (n=7) was the main etiological factor. Although Tetanus was graded as moderate in 8 patients (Mollaret stage 2), the death rate was high (44.4%) due to infectious and obstetric complications. This rate was similar to that associated with Tetanus in Newborns (48.5%), but higher than that associated with Tetanus in WCBA (25.6%). The incidence of life-threatening MT is declining in the Infectious Diseases Clinic of Fann University Hospital in Dakar. A systematic immunization program along with campaigns to prevent unwanted pregnancy in women of childbearing age will be needed to eliminate maternal and Newborn Tetanus in Dakar.
