Material y métodos: Se trabajó con 20 ratones Balb/c que aleatoreamente fueron distribuidos en 4 grupos administrándoles por vía oral (VO) de la siguiente forma: G1: Grupo blanco 0,2 ml de solución salina, G2: Grupo diazepam 1mg/kg, G3: Grupo 50 mg/kg de extracto etanólico de P. salpoense y G4: Grupo 100 mg/kg de extracto etanólico de P. salpoense. Luego, a los ratones se indujeron a ansiedad usando la prueba de Murble burying Test o prueba de enterramiento de canicas. Resultados: Los resultados demostraron que los grupos G3 y G4 disminuyeron de manera significativa el número de esferas enterradas con una media 9,60 ± 1,82 y 4,20 ± 1,30, respectivamente a comparación del grupo control blanco (G1) cuya media fue de 17,20 ± 3,03. Asimismo, los grupos G3 y G4, presentó una respuesta similar al grupo G2 cuya media fue de 3 ± 0,71. Conclusiones: Por lo tanto, que se concluyó que las dosis 50 mg/kg y 100 mg/kg del extracto etanólico de Passiflora salpoense (Passifloraceae) disminuyen los niveles de ansiedad de forma significativa (p

Material and methods: A prospective, transversal, preclinical in vivo. It was used 20 Balb/c mice that were randomly distributed in 4 groups for administering them orally in the following way: G1: white group 0.2 ml saline solution, G2: group diazepam 1 mg/kg, G3: group 50 mg/kg of ethanolic extract of P. salpoense, and G4: group 100 mg/kg of ethanolic extract of P. salpoense. Then, the mice were induced to anxiety using the Marble burying test. Results: G3 and G4 groups significantly decreased the number of buried spheres with a mean of 9.60 ± 1.82 and 4.20 ± 1.30, respectively compared to the white control group (G1) whose mean was 17.20 ± 3.03. Likewise, the G3 and G4 groups presented a response similar to the G2 group whose mean was 3 ± 0.71. Molecular phylogenetic analysis of Passifloraceae sensu lato (Malpighiales) based on plastid and nuclear DNA sequences
Journal of plant research, 2012Co-Authors: Toru TokuokaAbstract:A phylogenetic analysis of Passifloraceae sensu lato was performed using rbcL, atpB, matK, and 18S rDNA sequences from 25 genera and 42 species. Parsimony analyses of combined data sets resulted in a single most parsimonious tree, which was very similar to the 50% majority consensus tree from the Bayesian analysis. All nodes except three were supported by more than 50% bootstrap. The monophyly of Passifloraceae s.l. as well as the former families, Malesherbiaceae, Passifloraceae sensu stricto, and Turneraceae were strongly supported. Passifloraceae s.s. and the Turneraceae are sisters, and form a strongly supported clade. Within Passifloraceae s.s., the tribes Passifloreae and Paropsieae are both monophyletic. The intergeneric relationships within Passifloraceae s.s. and Turneraceae are roughly correlated with previous classification systems. The morphological character of an androgynophore/gynophore is better used for characterizing genera grouping within Passifloraceae s.s. Other morphological characters such as the corona and aril are discussed.

The Chloroplast Genome of Passiflora edulis (Passifloraceae) Assembled from Long Sequence Reads: Structural Organization and Phylogenomic Studies in Malpighiales

Almost all its members belong to the genus Passiflora. In Brazil, the yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis) is of considerable economic importance, both for juice production and consumption as fresh fruit. The availability of chloroplast genomes (cp genomes) and their sequence comparisons has led to a better understanding of the evolutionary relationships within plant taxa. In this study, we obtained the complete nucleotide sequence of the Passiflora edulis chloroplast genome, the first entirely sequenced in the Passifloraceae family. We determined its structure and organization, and also performed phylogenomic studies on the order Malpighiales and the Fabids clade. The P. edulis chloroplast genome is characterized by the presence of two copies of an inverted repeat sequence (IRA and IRB) of 26,154 bp, each separating a small single-copy (SSC) region of 13,378 bp and a large single-copy (LSC) region of 85,720 bp. The annotation resulted in the identification of 105 unique genes, including 30 tRNAs, 4 rRNAs and 71 protein coding genes. Also, 36 repetitive elements and 85 SSRs (microsatellites) were identified. The structure of the complete cp genome of P. edulis differs from that of other species because of rearrangement events detected by means of a comparison based on 22 members of the Malpighiales. The rearrangements were three inversions of 46,151 bp, 3,765 bp and 1,631 bp, located in the LSC region. Phylogenomic analysis resulted in strongly supported trees, but this could also be a consequence of the limited taxonomic sampling used. Our results have provided a better understanding of the evolutionary relationships in the Malpighiales and the Fabids, confirming the potential of complete chloroplast genome sequences in inferring evolutionary relationships and the utility of long sequence reads for generating very accurate biological information.
