    Abstract:

    The increasing competitiveness in electronic business is motivating varying research on the principal antecedents of consumer loyalty. However, previous research is too scarce, so that there are notable aspects which must be analyzed in-depth. This research has focused on new topics about the development of online consumer loyalty, such as the role of familiarity and Usability. Firstly, we analyze the effect of Usability, reputation and satisfaction on consumer loyalty. The results have revealed the existence of a positive and significant influence of reputation and satisfaction on website loyalty. Secondly, we confirm the influence of Usability on consumer satisfaction. Thirdly, we assess the moderating role of consumer familiarity on the relationships proposed in the research model. The analyses have shown that Usability plays a special role in the loyalty formation process. At reduced levels of familiarity Usability influences on loyalty through consumer satisfaction (indirect effect). However, if familiarity increases then Perceived Usability influences on loyalty not only through its effect on satisfaction, but also in a direct way. Consequently, higher levels of familiarity mean that the weight of Usability in the explanation of website loyalty is higher. Finally, several conclusions, managerial suggestions, limitations and future research lines are proposed.

    Abstract:

    We performed a study to determine the influence that Perceived Usability has on the user's loyalty to websites that they visit. The results of the empirical analysis confirmed that the trust of the user increases when the user Perceived that the system was usable and that there was a consequent increase in the degree of website loyalty. In the same way, greater Usability was found to have a positive influence on user satisfaction, and this also generated greater website loyalty. Finally, it was found that user trust was partially dependent on the degree of consumer website satisfaction.

    AbstractThe Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) represents how users come to accept and use a given technology and can be applied to teachers’ use of educational technologies. Here the model is extended to incorporate teachers’ Perceived Usability and self-efficacy measures toward the technologies they are currently using. The authors administered a survey to K–12 teachers in two rural school districts in Virginia, and 99 teachers responded. We then analyzed the responses with both reliability statistics and general linear modeling techniques. The results indicated that the incorporation of Perceived Usability into the TAM explained more variance and was more influential to TAM elements than its absence, thereby supporting the importance, positive influence, and necessity of evaluating Usability when investigating educational technology acceptance and usage behavior.     Our experiences are neither independent of the tools we use nor of our perceptions. Culture can also affect people's conceptions upon a variety of issues, ranging from feelings of loneliness to technology Usability. As for the latter, it seems that Greek older adults make use of web technologies much less than the majority of their peers in Europe. Based on the fact that psychosocial attributes can also affect technology usage, this exploratory quantitative research is an attempt to focus on the implicit factors related to Greek older adults' Usability ratings of web technologies. For this aim, a web 2.0 storytelling prototype has been demonstrated to 112 participants and an online questionnaire was applied for data collection. According to findings, older adults' loneliness and future time perspective were associated with system Usability, whereas their chronological age did not have any statistically significant relationship with Usability. These outcomes, which are extensively discussed, contribute to the limited literature in the field by studying the interactions between older people's psychosocial attributes and their Perceived Usability of online technologies.

    Abstract:

    Perceived Usability affects greatly student’s learning effectiveness and overall learning experience, and thus is an important requirement of educational software. The System Usability Scale (SUS) is a well-researched and widely used questionnaire for Perceived Usability evaluation. However, surprisingly few studies have used SUS to evaluate the Perceived Usability of learning management systems (LMSs). This paper presents an empirical evaluation of the SUS questionnaire in the context of LMSs’ Perceived Usability evaluation. Eleven studies involving 769 students were conducted, in which participants evaluated the Usability of two LMSs (eClass and Moodle) used within courses of their curriculum. It was found that the Perceived Usability of the evaluated LMSs is at a satisfactory level (mean SUS score 76.27). Analysis of the results also demonstrated the validity and reliability of SUS for LMSs’ evaluation, and that it remains robust even for small sample sizes. Moreover, the following SUS attributes were investigated in the context of LMSs evaluation: gender, age, prior experience with the LMS, Internet self-efficacy, attitude towards the Internet and usage frequency of the LMS.

    Abstract:

    Given the wide adoption of smartphones, an interesting debate is taking place regarding their optimal screen size and specifically whether possible portability issues counterbalance the obvious benefits of a larger screen. Moreover, the lack of scientific evidence about the concrete impact of mobile phones' screen size on Usability raises questions both to practitioners and researchers. In this paper, we investigate the impact of a mobile phone's screen size on users' effectiveness, efficiency and Perceived Usability as measured using System Usability Scale (SUS). An experiment was conducted with 60 participants, which interacted with the same information seeking application on three different devices of the same brand that differed on their screen size. A significant effect of screen size on efficiency was derived, leading to an important finding that users who interact with larger than 4.3in screens are more efficient during information seeking tasks.
