These mills processed 238.8 million cubic feet of industrial roundwood. There was 226.1 million cubic feet of industrial roundwood harvested from Minnesota forests. The majority of roundwood harvested was pulpwood, accounting for 61 percent of the total. The harvesting of industrial roundwood Products generated 110.6 million cubic feet of harvest residues. Primary wood-processing mills generated 1.5 million green tons of mill residues.

Michigan Timber Industry— An Assessment of Timber Product Output and Use, 2008

These mills processed 349.7 million cubic feet of industrial roundwood, of which 311.4 million cubic feet was harvested from within the State. Another 34.9 million cubic feet of the industrial roundwood harvested in Michigan was sent to primary wood-processing mills in other states and countries. Pulpwood accounted for more than half of the total harvest. The harvesting of industrial roundwood Products generated 98.8 million cubic feet of harvest residues. Primary wood-processing mills generated 2.6 million green tons of mill residues, with 1 percent of the mill residues generated not used for other Products. The Authors DAVID E. 2017Co-Authors: Ronald L. Hackett, Richard A. DahlmanAbstract:In 1992, volume of industrial roundwood Products removed from Minnesota's forest totaled 392 million cubic feet--14% more than in 1990. Mill byProducts generated from primary manufacturers decreased 2% to 1,595 thousand tons, green weight. Almost all plant residues were used, primarily for fuel and fiber Products. Pulpwood was the leading roundwood Product at 203 million cubic feet, saw logs ranked second at 59 million cubic feet, and veneer logs were third with 3 million cubic feet. The number of primary processing mills increased from 572 in 1990 to 596 in 1992. Total receipts increased 13% to 264 million cubic feet.
